Venom: The Last Dance is pretty mediocre as far as Marvel movies go and that is why Ryan and Mark give it a 7.5 and 5.5, respectively. The film has many of the same funny dialogue sequences between Venom and Brock that many loved from the previous films, but the main issue is that it lacks action, which is what you would expect from this kind of movie.
Don't rush to see this one but it is worth seeing especially if you are a Venom/Marvel fan.Send us a text

Conclave is a great movie that Ryan and Mark both strongly recommend. They give it a 9 and 8.5, respectively and do suggest seeing in the theater. Ralph Fiennes puts on no less than what you would expect in a stellar performance as Cardinal Lawrence, the recently appointed manager of the pope selection process.
The movie is interesting from start to finish and keeps you guessing until the very end. It also has many underlying messages and explores some challenging and controversial topics.Send us a text

Woman of the Hour directed by and starring Anna Kendrick, is a film based on the true story of how Rodney Alcala was able to kill an estimated hundred plus women mostly during the 1970s. Cheryl Bradshaw (Kendrick) visits a game show called "The Dating Game" where Alcala was a contestant. Alcala was actively killing women at the time of his appearance on the show.
The film explores the gender dynamics at the time that very likely helped create a perfect environment for a monster like Alcala. Ryan and Mark give the film an 8 and 8.5, respectively. It is a Netflix film and that is all the more reason to see it sooner rather than later.Send us a text

Smile 2 is the second Smile film and follows Skye Ridley (Naomi Scott), a pop star. Ridley is about to go on tour when she starts experiencing wild events that are extremely frightening. The events really don't make much sense which makes the situation worse.
Ridley's search for answers and ultimately a way out of this terrifying reality will have you on edge from start to finish. Mark gives this film an 8 and recommends to those that enjoy horror films.Send us a text

Terrifier 3 is the third of three slasher/horror films where the main antagonist is the murderous Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton). WARNING -this film is graphic and does not hold back with its violence.
Art the Clown has been resurrected in the film and his rain of terror continues on Christmas Eve. Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera), the main protagonist, is still trying to get over the trauma she suffered from Art in Terrifier 2. Unfortunately, her healing will have to wait as she is the only person able to challenge the clown and hopefully end his murder spree.
Mark gives the film a 9 and says it isn't quite as good as the second film but he still recommends to all interested.Send us a text

Joker: Folie à Deux, the second Joker movie starring Joaquin Phoenix, just isn't a good movie. Even if you ignore the unnecessary musical numbers, the story and sequencing of events is mediocre at best and is likely to put many to sleep. Ryan and Mark were disappointed to give the film near record low ratings considering how good the previous film was.
WSM does not recommend seeing this film.Send us a text

The Substance is a horror movie starring Demi Moore (Elisabeth Sparkle). In the film, she is a celebrity that is aging but is also falling out of relevance. In an attempt to regain her glory days and return to the starlight, she takes a substance that allows her to, at a cost, become a younger version of herself.
This film is gross, so go in on an empty stomach if possible but outside of that the concepts, acting, and pretty much everything else is great. That is why Mark gives this film a 9.5 and strongly recommends it to those that can stomach it.Send us a text

Turns out, he wasn't actually terminally ill but because he thought he was dying, he set into motion some events that could not be stopped. That is, he set a hit on himself.
The movie has great action and is exciting to watch despite the bits of ridiculousness here and there. Ryan and Mark give this film a 6.5 and 7, respectively.Send us a text

Beetle Juice is back for another film and this time he has similar ambitions. The movie has many members of the original cast but also some great new additions. Overall, it is a great film and Ryan and Mark give it an 8.5 and 8, respectively. This is one to see in theaters this fall!
If you've never seen the original or if it has been a while, you might consider watching it so you fully understand what is going on. You will probably enjoy it either way though!Send us a text

AfrAId is a recent Blumhouse production directed by Christ Weitz that explores some of the potential dangers of AI (Artificial Intelligence) by following a fictional family that recently underwent a trial run with an AI in their home.
As you might expect, things start out pretty great but eventually go very wrong as the AI begins to make rogue and questionable decisions that have serious consequences for every member of the family.
It is a decent film in that it does what the writer likely intended, that is, provokes thoughts around the costs vs benefits of AI. Unfortunately, outside of that it has some serious story issues and just doesn't make sense in some spots. That is why Ryan and Mark give the film a 6.5 and 5, respectively.Send us a text

Blink Twice is a psychological thriller that starts out confusing but comes together later and is quite disturbing. The film opens with a trigger warning and for good reason. Ryan and Mark both recommend this film and give it an 8.5 and 8, respectively.
The film centers around the concept of abuse of power. It turns out the "rehabilitated" tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) isn't really better. In fact, he and a group of others are taking advantage of their power and abusing a group of people without their knowledge.
This film could be particularly disturbing for anyone that has ever been a victim of sexual abuse.Send us a text

Alien Romulus is the most recent in the Alien movies taking place chronologically between Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). The story follows a group of young people attempting to find their way to a better life by salvaging some Cryosleep equipment from a random and seemingly abandoned space station that drifted into their planet's atmosphere. Little do they know, there's a reason the station is drifting and it's not quite abandoned.
It is a great film filled with suspense, intense and gruesome scenes, and of course, Aliens. Ryan and Mark give it an 8.5 and 7.5, respectively. Be sure to catch this one on the big screen if you can.Send us a text

Cuckoo (Pronounced Coo Coo) is exactly what it sounds like, a crazy film. It is a story about girl named Gretchen that recently moved to the German Alps with her father. While there she encounters some oddities, to say the least, and has to overcome them all while dealing with the loss of her mother. The movie is more suspense than horror but does have some really creepy parts.
Mark gives this movie an 8 but expects mixed reviews from others. It is one you might have to watch a few times to fully understand exactly what is going on.Send us a text

The latest in the Deadpool movies was nothing short of great. It is action packed, hilarious and FULL of great cameos and appearances. For those reasons, Ryan and Mark give it an 8.5 and 9, respectively.
If you were waiting to see a Deadpool and Wolverine team-up, wait no more. These two characters compliment each other perfectly as they somewhat begrudgingly work together to save the world (well, one of them anyway).Send us a text

Trap is the latest from the mind of the Great M. Night Shyamalan. The movie is about a serial killer that unexpectedly becomes trapped at a concert that turns out to be one giant sting operation just for him. The first part of the film is great, has excellent suspense, and keeps you engaged. Unfortunately, the end of the film gets a little outlandish and requires the audience to overlook a lot.
Ryan and Mark are split in their rating of this film giving it a 7 an 4.5, respectively. If it is something you that catches your attention, go see it. Otherwise this might be a good one to sit out.Send us a text

Twisters is a movie about exactly what you might expect, tornadoes. It is a sequel to the movie made in the 1990s called Twister starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton. The main characters have similar interests to those in the previous film, that being better understanding tornadoes with the goal of ultimately changing how they affect society.
The movie is exciting and unnerving from start to finish. Ryan and Mark give it a 7.5 and 8, respectively.Send us a text

This is a film about the somewhat controversial trip to the Moon by the USA in the late 1960s. The film includes lots of fiction but does pull some truth about the efforts by NASA to put a man on the Moon.
