  • Let's face it: Not only do we currently live in a world that's on fire, with big cosmological shifts that reveal the oppressive systems we've been leaning on and internalising – many of us, especially the more sensitive and neuro-spicy folks, also experience an unprecedented level of burnout!

    The questions is:
How can you care for yourself when even tending to your basic needs (like feeding yourself) already feels like a chore?

And what if that's more simple than you think and there is a way of doing it that doesn't feel like adding more things to your to-do-list?

In today's conversation my guest Lise Lønsmann and I talk about somatic healing and how it can help you deeply nourish yourself in simple ways.

    We dive into:

    - Lise's story and how somatic healing helped her support herself through burnout
    - The limitations of talk therapy when it comes to processing emotions
    - Why somatics is a quiet, rebellious tool to dismantle the systems of oppression
    - Simple ways of resourcing yourself without putting more things on your to-do-list

  • Many people have heard about PMS-symptoms – the Pre-Menstrual Syndrome can show up in a variety of physical and psycho-emotional ways, like migraines, bloating, water retention, congestion, and also fatigue, listlessness and mood swings.

But there is something only few people are aware of, which is usually more pronounced on the psycho-emotional level and leads to an intense experience that could be called "PMS on steroids": PMDD – Pre-Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder

In the days and weeks before their period, some people enter into existential despair (more than they might normally do), leading them to big questions like “Is all this living even worth it?”

This is extremely taxing on the nervous system, especially when you don't understand that this is connected to your menstrual cycle experience.

Join my guest Rianne BeCraft and me for this intimate conversation about PMS and PMDD, how they might be showing up in your life or in the lives of people around you and a few ideas on how you can support yourself or your loved ones in these experiences.

Because menstrual Cycle issues are common, not normal; and while this conversation is by no means a substitute for professional medical advice, we hope that what we share will help you make a little more sense of your experience and feel less alone in it!

This is Part 1 where we address:

    - Rianne's story and their experience with different menstrual cycle issues (PMS, back pain, their psychoemotional experience and ADHD)
    - The possible connection between PMDD and neurodivergence and how lymphatic work can help
    - Why PMS/PMDD happens in the luteal / premenstrual phase and how cycle charting can help make sense of your experience
    - How Rianne figured out patterns to their symptoms and started making preparations and requests

  • I don't consider myself a poet, but sometimes words just happen to flow through, like they did in a recent coaching session I received.

As I explored my relationship with pressure, I began wondering what a life without it might look like – something I have only experienced on rare occasions.

  • Today's episode is an example of a Soul-based Coaching session with a very practical topic: Snacking to self-soothe in situations of social anxiety and nervous system activation.

In less than 20 minutes, my client was able to dive deep into her inner knowing about why she reaches for snacks when she’s emotionally activated and what she would like to do instead – taking care of the younger part of her that feels overwhelmed in social situations.

Note how her desired outcome wasn't meant to reduce snacking altogeher, but it was about owning her power of choosing what to eat and when!

And because through Soul-based Coaching something shifts right there and then, on a subconscious and cellular level, one week after this session she reported she was able to catch herself in those moments of activation and go grab her nervous system soothing tools instead of food (maybe not every time, but hey, it’s progress!).

For me, Soul-based Coaching is a Quiet Revolution, a different approach to Life and how change can happen in an easeful, trauma-sensitive way.

By journeying deep into yourself and your own metaphors (inner images) – beneath your analytical mind – you allow your inner wisdom, the knowledge that is stored in your body, heart, mind and soul, to emerge and show you the answers and solutions that feel really good to you.

If you would like to receive a free coaching session, in exchange for your consent to use the material to show others what coaching with me can look like (I will not disclose your name unless you want me to!), get in touch at [email protected]!

  • As you may have guessed, menstrual art – or period painting – means using your menstrual blood to make art, for example on paper, or by adorning yourself with it.

Even though the idea makes my stomach queasy, I like to challenge myself to have these important conversations.

And while there's both intrigue and disgust inside of me, I'm also wondering if menstrual art could become a portal into a deeper, even more intimate connection with myself, with my womb. Because if I myself am whole and holy, why wouldn’t my menstrual blood be as well?

That’s why today, my guest Camilla and I talk about menstrual art and reclaiming the disgust, the connection and the pleasure that may come with this intimate practice.

Join us as we dive into:

    - My personal hesitations regarding menstrual art
    - How we can develop compassion for ourselves as we sit with different, maybe even conflicting emotions around taboo topics
    - What happened when Camilla first offered her blood back to the Earth
    - Whether or not it's a smelly process, and the role of the olfactory sense for our human existence
    - Ideas how you can dip your toes into menstrual art at any age and any stage of life (yes, even post menopause) and reclaim it as a practice of intimacy and connection to your own inner power

It's never too late to heal the relationship with yourself, with your body, with your cycle, with your blood!

Camilla and I would love to know:

What comes up for you when you think of using your menstrual blood to make art – or even adorn yourself?
What is (or was, if you’re post-menopausal) your relationship with your menstrual blood like?
What has stood out for you from what we’ve been sharing?

  • My guest Hayley Anderson and I are here to shed light on the hardships and challenges parents, and especially mothers, face and how harmful it can be to normalize them or uphold the patriarchal myth of the "perfect mother".

After our "Fireside Chat about the Challenges of Mothering and Motherhood" (episode 44), we continued chatting, and the more we talked, the deeper we went and unearthed some juicy insights that we didn't want you to miss.

So this episode is a series of snippets of conversation that happened after our recording, that show how we unravel our own conditioning and try to love ourselves in the process, biases and all.

Join us as we dive into:

    - the liberation and healing I personally experienced from my conversation with Hayley
    - the conflict between putting your children first and prioritising yourself

  • The ancient festival of Beltane was a celebration of the ecstatic life force energy running through all of us. A celebration of fertility, joy, and the erotic nature of, well, Nature!

Unfortunately, in our modern cultures we've become so disconnected from our bodies, from our sexuality, from our inner "eros" (our desires) that we tend to make our pelvic health decisions from an unhealthy place.

What would happen if you fell in love with your erotic life force again and claimed your sacred Yes and sacred No from this deep connection to your pelvic bowl?

Join Aurora and me in a juicy conversation as we dive into:

    - Aurora's journey from sexual trauma and dysregulation to self-empowerment and awe for the sacred science of the body
    - How eroticism, sexuality and pleasure are connected

  • Does this sound familiar?

It's hard for you to say No, especially to people you like or want to be liked by.
You hardly know what YOU really want (or don't dare wanting it).
You get by with the bare minimum and maybe secretly pride yourself in not needing much or not taking up more space.
You discount your contribution and the value you bring to the table.
You believe there is something wrong with you.

All these are patterns many marginalized folks hold in the body, that come from centuries of surviving in systems of dominance and oppression that most of our modern societies are rooted in.

Colonization is a complex topic and we certainly won't release its effects in one generation alone.

But my guest Kelsey Blackwell and I hope that by pointing out the ways you may have internalised systems of oppression, and showing you how to recognise and unravel these patterns in yourself, you will feel more free and liberated in your own life – undoubtedly contributing to the necessary collective transformation towards living more harmoniously with each other and our environment.

Listen in as we specifically dive into

    - The different lineages influencing Kelsey's body of work
    - How the colonist mindset lives inside of your body and how to identify it in your patterns of behaviour
    - The importance of re-establishing a relationship with your body and with the land you live on, wherever that is
    - Why part of the healing process can only happen in community and why it's important to have black or BIPOC spaces to do this work

  • Happy Easter!

Do you know how this festival came about and the real reason for celebration?

Because it’s not (just) Jesus dying and rising from the dead – it’s Life itself that's rising from the death of winter!

People have celebrated the rebirth of Nature, fertility and pleasure long before Christianity became a thing.

But even though I myself have broken with the Christian religion (as taught by the institution church) long ago – having been raised in a Christianised society (like in many parts of the world) still influences me big time, and has me see my pleasure as something dirty and shameful.

It's only in recent years, since I've come across new research, that I began a process of reconnecting with the original teachings of Jesus and Mary Magdalene – or Yeshua and Mirjam, their original names – and have been able to make peace with Christianity as Jesus and Mary taught it; learning to see pleasure as one of the most natural expressions of life force energy that runs through all of us.

Come along on the journey today, as I dive into

    - The symbolism of Spring Equinox and Easter celebrations
    - The influence of being raised by an uber-religious grandmother on my pleasure and well-being
    - The difference between belief-based religions and cultures of experiencing the Divine in everyday life
    - My personal belief and values (hint: underneath it all, we essentially believe in the same thing)
    - The true teachings of Jesus and Mary

    And I'm curious:
What's your relationship with religion and faith? What's coming up for you as you hear my words?
I appreciate learning more about you, your story and your views (even when they're different to mine), so tell me about them:

  • Join Leslie Ellis and me for an open and honest conversation about HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) in (Peri)Menopause, the in-built medicine cabinet of your body and different angles to consider in order to make an informed decision for yourself and your body.

This is NOT about giving anyone advice on whether or not external hormones are a good solution (we’re not doctors, after all), but an open exploration that mainly aims at exploring how to not inadvertently shame one another (or our bodies) around loaded topics like this.

    We dive into

    - Why it's important to hold space for different ideas and information and even opinions to be valid at the same time
    - The immense transition your body is going through in perimenopause and how different stressors can disrupt this natural process
    - How Leslie supported herself naturally and why she chose to support her body with bioidentical HRT too

Our goal is for you to become inspired to get all the support you need to make an informed decision for yourself and your body, and thereby take your female health into your own hands!

  • The only permanence in life is change – but some changes are more difficult to navigate than others. As a confidante through challenging life transitions – the moments of crisis – I’m really excited to have friend and fellow Soul-based Coach Corinne Konrad Calder with me for an open conversation about how to hold yourself when your world is falling apart.

Despite having a rather frightening flavour, “crisis” actually means “turning point”, simple as that. A moment of awakening and decision, where you can let go of parts of you that are outdated and decide on a new direction for yourself and your life.

But how can you navigate this challenging transition, the messy middle, so you come out the other way feeling stronger and more resilient in a new beginning?

That’s exactly what we talked about, so listen in to learn

    - Corinne's own story of many challenging and not-so-challenging life transitions
    - Why it's important to allow grief and other intense emotions to be present, including ways to process and release them
    - The role of a non-judgmental community to feel seen, heard and held in your experience
    - How creating space for the autumn and winter phase will make a new beginning more easeful
    - Questions to find out what you really really want in life
    - Corinne's encouraging message to you

  • To celebrate my 50th (!!!) episode, I share my personal story and how I got into the work I'm doing now, as a Menstrual & Menopausal Health Specialist and confidante through challenging life transitions.

It's the story about how one book changed the course of my life forever, allowing me to make peace with my eating disorders, release body shame and recognise the sacredness of my (menstrual) cycle.

    Dive in to learn

    - what the book taught me and how that deeply influenced my life
    - how I define embodied cyclical living and why I see it as both my spiritual and my feminist practice
    - the two fundamental principles of Life that made me start a Quiet, yet powerful Revolution to bring people back in touch with their own body and cyclical nature

And I would love to know: Does any of this resonate with you? What comes up as you hear me share my story? What is your relationship with your body and your cycle?

  • There's research that shows that it's predominantly female bodies that are affected by lymphatic stagnation – leading to inflammation, auto-immune disease, chronic pain, menstrual pain and different conditions of estrogen-dominance, like cysts, fibroids, PMS (PreMenstrual Syndrome), PMDD (PreMenstrual Dysphoric Disorder), endometriosis and symptoms associated with perimenopause.

What role does an optimal lymphatic flow play in alleviating any of them? Why does it get stagnant or blocked in the first place? And how can you care for your lymphatic system, and therefore your female health, on a daily basis?

Join me today as I dive into:

    - My personal reason why I'm such an advocate for lymphatic work
    - The three main tasks of the lymphatic system for your overall health
    - The crucial role optimal lymph flow plays in female health in particular
    - How it is connected to nervous system regulation, hormonal balance and breast health
    - Simple practices to support your lymphatic flow on a day-to-day basis

    Listen in to find out:

    - How you can slow down time (or rather, reduce the speed of life)

  • Talking with friends, I often hear that they experience motherhood or parenthood as a lot harder than they would have imagined. And I believe it's in part due to the distorted societal views on what it means to be a mother/parent in this world and the unrealistic expectations placed on them.

My guest Hayley Anderson and I are here to shed light on the hardships and challenges parents, and especially mothers, face and how harmful it can be to normalize them by insisting "They're normal.", "That's just how it is." and "It'll get easier".

    We dive into:

    - The impact normalizing the challenges of mothering and motherhood/parenthood has on your well-being
    - Why it's true that "it takes a village to raise a child"
    - What birth story medicine work is and how it can help you process your birth experience
    - How to release and heal internalised shame
    - The healing gift of being present with another person
