Jerry is in for Boomer today so it’s Gio & Jerry. We talked about the Jets press conference with Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey. Glenn said everything Jets fans would want to hear. There are still decisions to be made, including what to do with Aaron Rodgers. If not Rodgers, who are they realistically getting? How much did Glenn have to do with the Lions successful turnaround? When teams are stuck in quarterback hell, like the Jets, it is going to be tough on the head coach. Rodgers comes with a lot of baggage that a head coach has to deal with. Jerry has hope for the Jets, as both the Red Sox and Cubs figured it out. I mean, we had a Cubs/Cleveland World Series. C-Lo is in for Jerry and is here for his first update and starts with the sounds of Aaron Glenn from the press conference. Darren Mougey referenced getting a Super Bowl back to the Jets. The Jags welcomed Liam Coen as the new Head Coach and it didn’t go great. In the final segment of the hour, Al & Jerry are struggling to get views on YouTube.
    Hour 2

In the last 3 years in the playoffs, we looked at penalties called against the Chiefs and those called against their opponents. There is a big difference. This is why people think the Chiefs get the calls. A caller said maybe great teams commit fewer penalties. A woman thinks the refs knew about Dave Portnoy’s bet against the Chiefs and favored them because of it. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with the sounds of Aaron Glenn, wanting ‘this job’. Glenn said ‘get used to winning’. He will not be calling the defense because he wants to be ‘the best head coach’. Pete Carroll met the media and was interrupted by Marshawn Lynch. Jerry Jones talked about the risk of hiring Brian Schottenheimer since he has no head coaching experience. In the final segment of the hour, Brett from Long Island vs C-Mac is now a YouTube video on the WFAN channel. A caller said maybe the Chiefs don’t make mistakes so they don’t get flagged.
    Hour 3

There’s a pic on X that shows a 45 year old Tom Brady compared to a 38 year old Kenny Stabler. Kenny looks no less than 55 years old. Kenny was probably drinking and smoking a lot. Gio thinks it’s really the food we’re eating here compared to Europe, where people still smoke and still look healthier than a lot of people in America. We took calls on people looking older back a few decades ago than we do now. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with Aaron Glenn talking about the sting of losing the Championship game to Denver and how he came to get that back for the Jets. Gio channels Joe Benigno talking about Darren Mougey. Jerry Jones met the media and referenced ‘glory holes’ again and cried during the press conference. The Knicks beat the Grizzlies at the Garden. In the final segment of the hour, we took calls on why people looked older a few decades ago than we do now. Gio has been watching videos about Neptune and the moons around it.
    Hour 4

Aaron Glenn mentioned in yesterday’s press conference that he still thinks about the championship game loss to the Broncos and wants to get that back for the Jets. Gio said they have been in quarterback hell and they’re still there. Glenn needs a great quarterback and a great offensive coordinator. Ben Johnson took the Bears job because of Caleb Williams. Mike Vrabel took the Patriots job because of Drake Maye. Jerry was not impressed by Maye, but Gio thought he was pretty good. We have to give Glenn a learning curve. We can’t expect him to be a great coach in season one. C-Lo returns for his final update of the day, but first we talked about Gio’s dog situation. Jerry used to have a tick where he would say, ‘and a ballsack’ in the WFAN newsroom. C-Lo starts with the sounds of Aaron Glenn from his opening press conference. Woody Johnson also spoke about Glenn and GM Darren Mougey. Jon Gruden talked about the challenges of new head coaches. Jerry Jones talked about all the risks he’s taken over the last five years. The Moment of The Day: Gio as ...

  • The history of medicine goes back to the dawn of mankind when ancient healers used special herbs to treat illnesses.

Hippocrates, the father of medicine, laid the foundation for modern medical practice: observation, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. His work set the stage for centuries of medical progress.

In the 19th century, Edward Jenner created a smallpox vaccine, and Louis Pasteur proved microorganisms caused disease. The 20th century brought antibiotics, medical imaging, and organ transplants. In the past 400 years, the human lifespan has doubled.

But something happened to medicine along the way. It became an industry. A profitable one.

President Eisenhower warned against creating a "military-industrial complex" because if you make war profitable, you'll always have war. He was right.

So, here's a cynical question: If you make illness profitable, will you always have illness?

In recent years, trillions have been spent on cancer research and therapies. That's a lot of people getting rich from a disease that's already been cured.

Boomer is feeling bad for Giants fans this morning as Saquon Barkley scored 3 TDs and is headed to the Super Bowl. Boomer was impressed by Jayden Daniels and thought Tom Brady had his best game as an analyst. Turnovers killed the Commanders. The Bills/Chiefs game had a controversial spot on a fourth down that cost the Bills. Dalton Kincaid had a ball he had to catch on another fourth down. The NFL almost awarded the Eagles a TD as Washington kept jumping offsides on the tush-push attempt. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with Saquon’s first carry that went for a 60-yard TD. Gio said Jalen Hurts is always by himself on the sideline. We heard Kevin Harlan on the call as the Chiefs went ahead for good on a FG with 3:33 left. Sen McDermott talked about the Chiefs always being at the top. The Mets held, ‘Amazin’ Day’ with the fans and Steve Cohen talked about the Pete Alonso negotiations, which he said were ‘exhausting’. In the final segment of the hour, Eagles fans took to the streets to celebrate, including shooting a gun into the air.
    Hour 2

The Jets have a press conference later today to introduce Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey. He is a first time GM who has been with the Broncos for 12 years. This is not what Gio wanted for the Jets, a first time GM and first time head coach. We also talked about Glenn potentially working with Aaron Rodgers. And who are the coordinators going to be for the Jets? Will they be first time coordinators? Jerry returns for an update and starts with the 4th down QB sneak by Josh Allen that didn’t make it. The CBS broadcast all thought it was a first down. We heard Eagles radio as Saquon Barkley scored his third TD of the game. The refs almost awarded a score to the Eagles as Washington tried to time the defense of the tush-push. Jay Glazer said that Aaron Glenn will meet with Aaron Rodgers to figure it out and not, ‘drag it out’. Jerry had a dream that Danny DeVito drowned in a pool. Steve Cohen talked about the Pete Alonso negotiations. In the final segment of the hour, who’s getting these NFL helmets that we have in the studio? Gio thinks Jon Gruden is getting tired of watching games with the Barstool guys. We talked about the same commercials that play over and over again during NFL games and how you really notice it when there’s only one standalone game on.
    Hour 3

The Bills just cannot beat the Chiefs in the playoffs and there’s nothing they can do about it. They aren’t getting rid of the coach because of that, nor should they. We talked about some of the cap space that some very good teams have going into next season. Boomer is very into Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. Jerry returns for an update, but first Gio wonders what Stephen Waldren would have had us do if we were going to New Orleans. Our makeup artist, Aly, got engaged. For some reason she didn’t tell Boomer. Gio heard a new phrase and Boomer just did it: ‘Boomer Asking’. Jerry has the sounds of Saquon Barkley scoring on a 60 yard right. Michael Irvin was not happy seeing the Commanders and Eagles in the Championship game. We heard from Kevin Harlan as Patrick Mahomes ran one in from 10 yards out. Josh Allen isn’t sure what went wrong, but it wasn’t good enough. In the final segment of the hour, Aly checked in to say Boomer didn’t ask her about her weekend, so she didn’t tell him she got engaged.
    Hour 4

The NY Jets are having a press conference today to introduce Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey. We also talked about the draft and the Giants taking Shedeur Sanders and how that will work with Brian Daboll. We also talked about the NFL free agents that will be available. Jerry returned for his final update of the day, and he started with the Chiefs beating the Bills as we heard Kevin Harlan on the call. Dave Portnoy, like others, were not happy with the spot on a fourth down Josh Allen run. Jerry has audio of a Bills fan who needed the Bills to be there for him and they weren’t. We heard Eagles radio a ...

Aaron Glenn met with the Jets yesterday, but he doesn’t have a deal yet. We do expect that to happen though. Brian Costello put out an article with some potential names for Jets offensive coordinator and Gio is not thrilled with them. We talked about the Jets bringing in another first time head coach and another first time GM. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with Davante Adams talking to Kay Adams about the Washington/Detroit game. The mayor of Philadelphia tried to chant ‘E-A-G-L-E-S’, but she failed at that. Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco talked about Ryan Day and Ohio State. Ichiro is headed to the Hall of Fame, but one voter did not vote for him. CC Sabathia also got in and talked about his career and his ‘home in the Bronx’. The Knicks beat the Nets in Brooklyn. In the final segment of the hour, an 11-year old kid found the 1-of-1 Paul Skenes card.
    Hour 2

We talked more about the 11-year old kid who found the Paul Skenes rookie card that’s a 1-of-1. A caller told us about Staten Island cable as a kid and how you could get the Spice and Playboy channels. A caller said he had a crush on the pink Power Ranger. Boomer wondered how Barney Ruble was able to get Betty as a wife. Someone mentioned ‘Singled Out’ with Jenny McCarthy. We heard from lots of dudes that called about the first time they saw a girl on TV that they had the hots for. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Davante Adams talking to Kay Adams about the Commanders and Jayden Daniels. Mike Francesa had an incident with the trunk of his car crashing down on his head. Kirk Herbstreit talked about why he was emotional after the Ohio State win on Monday night. CC Sabathia talked about being a first ballot Hall of Famer. Ichio talked through a translator about getting in as well. The Knicks beat the Nets in Brooklyn. Shaq thought Candace Parker was dressed as the Pink Panther. The Rangers beat the Senators and we heard Sam Rosen on the call. In the final segment of the hour, Gio said if someone says, ‘between you and me’, it better be something big.
    Hour 3

Phil Simms joins us in his usual Wednesday spot. We talked about Patrick Mahomes getting all the calls from the refs. We talked about the quarterback performances in the divisional games. Phil talked about playing in terrible windy conditions in the playoffs. Phil said of the KC defense, ‘Oh My Gosh’. Phil said ‘there’s no Jayden Daniels out there for the Giants this year’. Jerry returns for an update, but first Boomer is dealing with a fellow employee who thinks others see him as a jerk. Ben Johnson was given a hero’s welcome when he went into the Bears’ facility. Brian Schottenheimer is the leading candidate for the Cowboys job and it’s not sitting well with the hosts in Dallas. Jerry Jones is not going to hire somebody that outshines Jerry Jones. Lamar Jackson went over to Mark Andrews after the dropped 2-point conversion to say it’s the whole team, not just him. In the final segment of the hour, America is definitely rooting for the Bills over the Chiefs.
    Hour 4

Overnight producer Mike Fliegelman, a huge Jets fan, tweeted something that Boomer really liked. It was in regards to Lance Newmark, the guy the Jets are likely to hire as GM. He does not seem to be a fan and he explained why. The Jets still don’t know what’s going on with Aaron Rodgers. Gio wants Aaron Glenn, in his press conference, to say, ‘I know it’s a mess here and it’s going to be a tough job’. Lance Newmark doesn’t know about the bus that is about to drive over him. Boomer thinks Patriots fans must be pumped. They got Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels is coming back. And they have Drake Maye to play under these guys. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with Dan Orlovsky apologizing for tweeting people yelling at Lamar and Andrews are losers. Nick Saban was asked if he has any regrets (he does). CC Sabathia became a first ballot Hall of Famer and talked about finding a home in the Bron ...

NFL Divisional Weekend is upon us and the marquee game is Sunday night with the Ravens at the Bills. This game is likely to come down to who turns the ball over the most. People are acting like Lamar Jackson can’t play in the cold weather. The man plays in Baltimore. Boomer wonders if the Chiefs will ever come out and just blow somebody out. Gio wonders if the Texans/Chiefs game is the big upset nobody’s talking about. C-Lo is in for Jerry and is here for his first update of the day, but first we talked about Chris Berman’s comb over flying in the wind. C-Lo has audio previewing the Divisional games this weekend. The book AJ Brown was reading on the sideline is up ‘53 million percent’ according to Gio.
    Hour 2

The Giants have the third pick and the Jets have the seventh, and both need quarterbacks. Seven of the eight QBs left in the playoffs were first round picks. Two of them were the number one pick, two were the number two pick. Gio always hears the narrative that you can get a good QB in the second round but that’s really not the case. Boomer thinks Cam Ward is the best QB in the draft. It seems like Ward is going to the Titans number one. A caller doesn’t like Gio saying Joe Schoen had bad drafts before this last one. Dion Sanders is not going to want Shedeur going to the Browns. C-Lo returns for an update, but first we shook a lot of hands last night so we will likely get norovirus. Hour 3

We wondered what playoff teams could still win if their quarterback goes down. The two best running teams are the Ravens and Eagles. Is that Boomer’s Super Bowl prediction? Boomer and Phil Simms were gushing about the Ravens at last night’s event. A caller wants the Giants to trade for Patriots backup Joe Milton. C-Lo returns for an update, but first the Dolphins are one of the teams playing in Madrid this upcoming season. Boomer said in 2028 or 2029 there will be an NFL division in Europe and they will all be expansion teams. Gio thinks it sucks and he hates it. Bill Belichick supposedly didn’t sign his contract yet at UNC but that doesn’t seem to be a big deal. Ed Werder said Jerry Jones is enamored with Deion Sanders. Adam Schein doesn’t see it happening. He thinks it will be Kellen Moore. We heard Jerry Recco on the call as Rutgers won in Nebraska. In the final segment of the hour, Rams linebacker Jared Verse said he hates Eagles fans.

We don’t normally get breaking news this early, but Ian Rapoport is saying that Aaron Glenn is meeting with the Jets today and they will not let him out of the building without a contract. Gio wanted somebody with head coaching experience. Boomer thinks Glenn will be a great head coach, but the Jets are in a whole different situation. How much of the Lions success is on Glenn? There’s Dan Campbell, the offensive genius of Ben Johnson, and great drafts by the GM. Ben Johnson is going to the Bears, who are in the Lions division of course. Who will be a part of Glenn’s coaching staff? Gio is not excited with the choice as he doesn’t want another first time head coach here. Gio doesn’t like it because it’s another coordinator with zero head coaching experience. We talked about Glenn’s gameplan this past weekend against Jayden Daniels. It’s looking like we’re getting two fair weather games this weekend. C-Lo returns for an update, but first we talked about the Championship game in KC where Walker Hayes’ ‘Fancy Like’ was blasting through the stadium as the NFL Today was trying to broadcast. Aaron Glenn was on a podcast a few years ago and talked about relating to players. We wondered if Glenn would keep Aaron Rodgers at QB. Lance Newmark could be coming as GM as they worked together in Detroit before Lance went to Washington. We wondered who some famous people named Lance were. In the final segment of the hour, Gio got a letter in the mail by someone who doesn’t like the ‘subway surfing’ that’s done in the show open on CBS Sports Network. CBS actually took it out of the open earlier this week. Gio wonders if it’s safer on top of the subway or in the subway.
    Hour 2

We talked about baseball free agency concerning Vlad Guerrero Jr., Pete Alonso and the Mets. We have not seen the flurry of activity we expected from the Mets after the Juan Soto signing. Gio said nobody really cares about pitchers and catchers reporting, they just like that it means better weather is on the way. If there was a draft for months of the year, January and February have to be the 2 last picks. A lawyer calls to say Snapple had a commercial that had to be removed because people were doing dangerous things. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Knicks beating the Sixers in Philadelphia. The Nets suffered their worst loss in franchise history last night to the Clippers. Sam Darnold went back to his NY Jets days with his performance last night in the loss to the Rams. He held on to the ball way too long and took too many sacks. He threw a pick and fumbled a ball that was returned for a TD. ‘Sam Darnold peed himself in the biggest moment’ according to Gio. And now it looks like the Vikings will turn to JJ McCarthy next season and Darnold will go elsewhere. Gio is very annoyed today and Boomer is getting under his skin. Wild Card weekend is over and there were a lot of disappointing games. The most disappointing performance from an individual was Justin Herbert and the Steelers were the most disappointing team performance. The Steelers looked ‘leader-less’ according to Boomer. The Ravens/Bills is going to be a great matchup of 2 MVP candidates in their prime. In the Packers/Eagles game, cameras caught AJ Brown reading a motivational book while sitting on the bench.
