As events escalated in the Middle East over the weekend, Britain found itself unceremoniously dragged into another criminal conflict. Despite Donald Trump’s evident contempt for "Sir" Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister has fallen right in line behind the latest US-Israeli attack on Iran.
Trump has signaled that he views Britain not as a 'Churchill' but as a third-rate power with little choice but to follow the US lead.

While figures like Keir Starmer attempt to wash their hands of the fallout, the reality is clear: this grubby network of businessmen, bankers, royals, and billionaires isn't an anomaly. It is a core feature of the day-to-day running of the capitalist state.
As Pam Bondi, the United States Attorney General allegedly remarked, 'If we arrested everyone in the files, there would be no one left to rule.' This is no longer just another scandal — it is a crisis of legitimacy that capitalism may not survive and consciousness of millions of workers is being stirred.

This week we ask: why is the left seemingly incapable of fighting the right wing? It is not simply a question of weak organisation or a lack of working-class support for a left-wing programme.
The deeper issue is that the left, as it currently exists, is organically incapable of solving the problems of the working class because it refuse to lay the blame on the capitalist system.
We trace the history of the left wing surge of the 2010s, in the form of Podemos, Jeremy Corbyn and Syriza, explaining why they ended in defeat. We examine the emergence of Zack Polanski and the Greens, alongside 'Your Party' to explain where their popularity comes from. Ultimately, we argue that the reforms being put forward will only work on the basis of a struggle against the capitalist system as a whole - which is what the Revolutionary Communist Party is trying to build.
