Our children are online, we cannot avoid it. Online safety is a priority for every child. Parents are the best teachers, so we advise that parents spend time teaching and guiding children about how to stay safe online. The internet has a lot of benefits but the reality is that there is also a host of online safety tips every child needs to know.
Some Highlights
1. A stranger online is still a stranger.
2. Not all news and stories you read are true as fake news is rampant on the internet.
3. Everything you do online leaves a trail, you build your digital assets with every comment, picture and interaction online.

Welcome to another episode of Abundant Living for mums podcast, in this episode I want us to talk about 5 myths of parenting during these uncertain times. Parenting has been on a real 24/7 round the clock mode! And many families, parents and children are learning new things about themselves at this time. Some families are navigating the changes seamlessly enough, while some others are taking the time to make necessary changes.
Some of the myths of parenting during this time include: You do not need to talk to your children about what is going on, online learning is easy, relationships are not going through any changes at this time, your parenting style is "fixed" or it doesn't need to change and lastly that children are not affected by what is going on. Which of these myths do you think applies to you or your family?
Everyone needs to pay attention to their mental health and prioritize self-care during high stress and uncertain times such as these.
How are you really doing? I would love to know what you have found out about your parenting, relationships and children at this time? Are you needing to pause and reset or is it life as usual? We are all in this together and will get through it!

It is more important than ever to have the right mindset during uncertain times.
Right now most families are spending more time together than ever before and the words that you speak and the actions you take as parents can set the tone in your home. Essentially all parents are getting a bit of a report card at this time, how well are you getting along and offering a safe space for everyone's mental health.
Rather than focus on what you cannot control, focus on what you do control, which are your thoughts and your attitude.
Maximize the current situation with a focus on a better future! Learn to communicate as a family and use this time to bond.
There are so many ways to grow even during these difficult times.

We all have some level of success with the seemingly elusive work-life balance struggle.
Depending on who you ask it is either possible or it is a myth. I believe that work-life balance is possible but it is only so if you are ready to accept that you need to be comfortable with the idea of sacrifice and being flexible.
The average person has the equivalent of two or more jobs. How do you ask? By the time you add the amount of time spent on social media, scrolling through all your feeds and notifications, responding to messages, liking and posting online- you have probably spent the equivalent of a part-time job. Add this to your other demands and no wonder we all seem to struggle with work-life balance. How can we balance it all? We need to take control and focus on what is important. Listen to the podcast as I discuss some steps for you to take control of all the demands on your time.

Is it okay to have a favourite child? This was a discussion from my weekly #ParentingToday Radio show | Thursday @ 12.30 PM on LagosTalks 91.3FM
Join me as we discuss this matter of favourites? Should parents have a favourite child and is it okay? What about how the children feel about this. In some situations when children know that there is a favourite child, there tends to be some tension. In the situation where this is left unmanaged, it could cause strain between the siblings as they grow older. The theory of "the middle child syndrome" suggests that the middle child usually feels ignored. As Intentional Parents, these conversations should encourage us to ask questions about our parenting styles.
