An American on the Western Front allows us a fresh glimpse of the United States’ story in World War I. A narrative history of America’s war, it is woven around the story and letters of the American serviceman Arthur Clifford Kimber. Kimber carried the First Flag of the United States to France in spring 1917 and served as an ambulancier and pilot with both French & American forces.
