मिरी रौशनी तिरे ख़द्द-ओ-ख़ाल से मुख़्तलिफ़ तो नहीं मगर
तू क़रीब आ तुझे देख लूँ तू वही है या कोई और है
तुझे दुश्मनों की ख़बर न थी मुझे दोस्तों का पता नहीं
तिरी दास्ताँ कोई और थी मिरा वाक़िआ कोई और है
वही मुंसिफ़ों की रिवायतें वही फ़ैसलों की इबारतें
मिरा जुर्म तो कोई और था प मिरी सज़ा कोई और है
कभी लौट आएँ तो पूछना नहीं देखना उन्हें ग़ौर से
जिन्हें रास्ते में ख़बर हुई कि ये रास्ता कोई और है
जो मिरी रियाज़त-ए-नीम-शब को 'सलीम' सुब्ह न मिल सकी
तो फिर इस के मअ'नी तो ये हुए कि यहाँ ख़ुदा कोई और है

इश्क़ है तो इश्क़ का इज़हार होना चाहिए
आप को चेहरे से भी बीमार होना चाहिए
आप दरिया हैं तो फिर इस वक़्त हम ख़तरे में हैं
आप कश्ती हैं तो हम को पार होना चाहिए
ऐरे-ग़ैरे लोग भी पढ़ने लगे हैं इन दिनों
आप को औरत नहीं अख़बार होना चाहिए
ज़िंदगी तू कब तलक दर-दर फिराएगी हमें
टूटा-फूटा ही सही घर-बार होना चाहिए
अपनी यादों से कहो इक दिन की छुट्टी दे मुझे
इश्क़ के हिस्से में भी इतवार होना चाहिए

इक लफ़्ज़-ए-मोहब्बत का, अदना ये फ़साना है
सिमटे तो दिल-ए-आशिक़, फैले तो ज़माना है
ये किस का तसव्वुर है, ये किस का फ़साना है
जो अश्क है आँखों में, तस्बीह का दाना है
दिल संग-ए-मलामत का, हर-चंद निशाना है
दिल फिर भी मिरा दिल है, दिल ही तो ज़माना है
हम इश्क़ के मारों का, इतना ही फ़साना है
रोने को नहीं कोई, हँसने को ज़माना है
वो और वफ़ा-दुश्मन, मानेंगे न माना है
सब दिल की शरारत है, आँखों का बहाना है
शाइ'र हूँ मैं, शाइ'र हूँ, मेरा ही ज़माना है
फ़ितरत मिरा आईना, क़ुदरत मिरा शाना है
जो उन पे गुज़रती है, किस ने उसे जाना है
अपनी ही मुसीबत है, अपना ही फ़साना है
क्या हुस्न ने समझा है, क्या इश्क़ ने जाना है
हम ख़ाक-नशीनों की, ठोकर में ज़माना है

अश्कों की हुकूमत है, आहों का ज़माना है
आँखों में नमी सी है, चुप चुप से वो बैठे हैं
नाज़ुक सी निगाहों में, नाज़ुक सा फ़साना है
हम, दर्द-ब-दिल, नालाँ वो, दस्त-ब-दिल हैराँ
ऐ इश्क़ तो क्या ज़ालिम, तेरा ही ज़माना है
या वो थे ख़फ़ा हम से, या हम हैं ख़फ़ा उन से
कल उन का ज़माना था, आज अपना ज़माना है
ऐ इश्क़-ए-जुनूँ-पेशा, हाँ इश्क़-ए-जुनूँ-पेशा
आज एक सितमगर को, हँस हँस के रुलाना है
थोड़ी सी इजाज़त भी, ऐ बज़्म-गह-ए-हस्ती
आ निकले हैं दम-भर को, रोना है रुलाना है
ये इश्क़ नहीं आसाँ, इतना ही समझ लीजे
इक आग का दरिया है, और डूब के जाना है
ख़ुद हुस्न-ओ-शबाब उन का, क्या कम है रक़ीब अपना
जब देखिए अब वो हैं, आईना है शाना है
तस्वीर के दो रुख़ हैं, जाँ और ग़म-ए-जानाँ
इक नक़्श छुपाना है, इक नक़्श दिखाना है
ये हुस्न-ओ-जमाल उन का, ये इश्क़-ओ-शबाब अपना
जीने की तमन्ना है, मरने का ज़माना है
मुझ को इसी धुन में है, हर लहज़ा बसर करना
अब आए वो अब आए, लाज़िम उन्हें आना है
ख़ुद्दारी-ओ-महरूमी, महरूमी-ओ-ख़ुद्दारी
अब दिल को ख़ुदा रक्खे, अब दिल का ज़माना है
अश्कों के तबस्सुम में, आहों के तरन्नुम में
मा'सूम मोहब्बत का, मा'सूम फ़साना है
आँसू तो बहुत से हैं, आँखों में 'जिगर' लेकिन
बंध जाए सो मोती है, रह जाए सो दाना है

और कुछ देर यूँही, जंग, सियासत, मज़हब

मेरी ग़ुर्बत को, शराफ़त का अभी नाम न दे

हम को तोहफ़े ये, तुम्हें दोस्त बनाने से मिले

वो फ़लाने से, फ़लाने से, फ़लाने से मिले
ख़ुद से मिल जाते तो, चाहत का भरम रह जाता
क्या मिले आप, जो लोगों के मिलाने से मिले
माँ की आग़ोश में कल, मौत की आग़ोश में आज
हम को दुनिया में, ये दो वक़्त सुहाने से मिले
कभी लिखवाने गए ख़त, कभी पढ़वाने गए
हम हसीनों से, इसी हीले, बहाने से मिले
इक नया ज़ख़्म मिला, एक नई उम्र मिली
जब किसी शहर में, कुछ यार पुराने से मिले
एक हम ही नहीं फिरते हैं, लिए क़िस्सा-ए-ग़म

कमाल-ए-ज़ब्त को ख़ुद भी तो आज़माऊँगी
मैं अपने हाथ से, उस की दुल्हन सजाऊँगी
सुपुर्द कर के उसे चाँदनी के हाथों में
मैं अपने घर के, अँधेरों को लौट आऊँगी
बदन के कर्ब को वो भी समझ न पाएगा
मैं दिल में रोऊँगी, आँखों में मुस्कुराऊँगी
वो क्या गया कि रिफ़ाक़त के सारे लुत्फ़ गए
मैं किस से रूठ सकूँगी, किसे मनाऊँगी
अब उस का फ़न तो किसी और से हुआ मंसूब
मैं किस की नज़्म, अकेले में गुनगुनाऊँगी
वो एक रिश्ता-ए-बेनाम भी नहीं लेकिन
मैं अब भी, उस के इशारों पे सर झुकाऊँगी
बिछा दिया था गुलाबों के साथ अपना वजूद
वो सो के उट्ठे, तो ख़्वाबों की राख उठाऊँगी
समाअ'तों में घने जंगलों की साँसें हैं
मैं अब कभी, तिरी आवाज़, सुन न पाऊँगी
जवाज़ ढूँड रहा था नई मोहब्बत का
वो कह रहा था, कि मैं, उस को भूल जाऊँगी

हैं कई हिज्र दरमियाँ जानाँ

किस से पूछूँ तिरा निशाँ जानाँ
आलम-ए-बेकरान-ए-रंग है तू
तुझ में ठहरूँ कहाँ कहाँ जानाँ
मैं हवाओं से कैसे पेश आऊँ
यही मौसम है क्या वहाँ जानाँ
रौशनी भर गई निगाहों में
हो गए ख़्वाब बे-अमाँ जानाँ
दर्द-मंदान-ए-कू-ए-दिलदारी
गए ग़ारत जहाँ तहाँ जानाँ
अब भी झीलों में अक्स पड़ते हैं
अब भी नीला है आसमाँ जानाँ
है जो पुर-ख़ूँ तुम्हारा अक्स-ए-ख़याल
ज़ख़्म आए कहाँ कहाँ जानाँ

उस के पहलू से लग के चलते हैं
हम कहीं टालने से टलते हैं
बंद है मय-कदों के दरवाज़े
हम तो बस यूँही चल निकलते हैं
मैं उसी तरह तो बहलता हूँ
और सब जिस तरह बहलते हैं
वो है जान अब हर एक महफ़िल की
हम भी अब घर से कम निकलते हैं
क्या तकल्लुफ़ करें ये कहने में
जो भी ख़ुश है हम उस से जलते हैं
है उसे दूर का सफ़र दर-पेश
हम सँभाले नहीं सँभलते हैं
शाम फ़ुर्क़त की लहलहा उट्ठी
वो हवा है कि ज़ख़्म भरते हैं
है अजब फ़ैसले का सहरा भी
चल न पड़िए तो पाँव जलते हैं

हम जी रहे हैं कोई बहाना किए बग़ैर
उस के बग़ैर उस की तमन्ना किए बग़ैर
अम्बार उस का पर्दा-ए-हुरमत बना मियाँ
दीवार तक नहीं गिरी पर्दा किए बग़ैर
याराँ वो जो है मेरा मसीहा-ए-जान-ओ-दिल
बे-हद अज़ीज़ है मुझे अच्छा किए बग़ैर
मैं बिस्तर-ए-ख़याल पे लेटा हूँ उस के पास
सुब्ह-ए-अज़ल से कोई तक़ाज़ा किए बग़ैर
उस का है जो भी कुछ है मिरा और मैं मगर
वो मुझ को चाहिए कोई सौदा किए बग़ैर
ये ज़िंदगी जो है उसे मअना भी चाहिए
वा'दा हमें क़ुबूल है ईफ़ा किए बग़ैर
ऐ क़ातिलों के शहर बस इतनी ही अर्ज़ है
मैं हूँ न क़त्ल कोई तमाशा किए बग़ैर
मुर्शिद के झूट की तो सज़ा बे-हिसाब है
तुम छोड़ियो न शहर को सहरा किए बग़ैर
उन आँगनों में कितना सुकून ओ सुरूर था
आराइश-ए-नज़र तिरी पर्वा किए बग़ैर
याराँ ख़ुशा ये रोज़ ओ शब-ए-दिल कि अब हमें
सब कुछ है ख़ुश-गवार गवारा किए बग़ैर
गिर्या-कुनाँ की फ़र्द में अपना नहीं है नाम
हम गिर्या-कुन अज़ल के हैं गिर्या किए बग़ैर
आख़िर हैं कौन लोग जो बख़्शे ही जाएँगे
तारीख़ के हराम से तौबा किए बग़ैर
वो सुन्नी बच्चा कौन था जिस की जफ़ा ने 'जौन'
शीआ' बना दिया हमें शीआ' किए बग़ैर
अब तुम कभी न आओगे या'नी कभी कभी
रुख़्सत करो मुझे कोई वा'दा किए बग़ैर
