  • What an Episode!

We were lucky enough to get time with Larry Emdur from Australian TV fame and Dean Druce from Corowa Distilling Co. to talk to us about their current release to hit the shelves right across Australia, The Ben Buckler!

This whisky is down to earth and humble at 40% ABV just like Larry and Dean.

However it really has an amazing back story and complex tasting profile that brings you back for more over and over again. Again just like Larry and Dean.

We got so much enjoyment out of listening to the guys with their story and are sure you will as well.

We hope you can sit and listen with a dram in a comfortable chair, but of course you can listen almost anywhere, wherever you listen we trust you will enjoy the Banter over Whisky. If you have any feedback, ideas or questions for the Banter crew please feel free to contact us on Instagram, Facebook or email [email protected] Or chase up one of the crew with Adrian @that_whisky_place, Brad @banter_over_whisky, John @whisky.and.sound and Vic @vic.whiskey

    Cheers

  • G'day everyone and welcome to another episode of Banter over Whisky. With some of the crew away working and holidaying we thought we should put out an episode “from the bag”. These are episodes that we do occasionally for this very reason. In this episode we talk about Rum and bourbon, and get some insights into some larger distilleries.
Anyway we hope you can sit and listen with a dram in a comfortable chair, but of course you can listen almost anywhere, wherever you listen we trust you will enjoy the Banter over Whisky.

  • G'day everyone and welcome to another episode of Banter over Whisky! We were lucky enough to sit down with Waiheke Whisky recently and get a run down on their story, their whisky and their plans. Mark Izzard is one of the founders and we really appreciated the opportunity to discuss the Distillery with him. He and his Partner Ro are deemed the dreamers of the venture, but they have already turned a lot into reality. Patrick Newton also joins us directly from the distillery, we suspect that he is still working although it’s already fairly late into the night. Patrick’s background is in wine and he definitely brings a pretty cool perspective to his role as head distiller and of course the conversation. We are also lucky enough to taste a range of the whisky supplied by Will Pitchforth who is working with Waiheke on distribution as well as other things.
This episode was a real opportunity for us to learn an out Waiheke and we hope that you find it educational as well or at least entertaining as we had a lot of fun.
Anyway we hope you can sit and listen with a dram in a comfortable chair, but of course you can listen almost anywhere, wherever you listen we trust you will enjoy the Banter over Whisky.

  • G'day everyone and welcome to another episode of Banter over Whisky!Following Brad's trip to Japan back in February we thought it only fitting to do a session where we discussed whisky from the land of the rising sun.

Vic, Adrian and Brad taste three different whiskies and give us their notes and of course we discuss the distilleries they are from. and Naturally we talk about the distilleries that Brad visited while over there.

This is a fairly quick one and will likely do this again as there is so much to talk about.

Anyway we hope you can sit and listen with a dram in a comfortable chair, but of course you can listen almost anywhere, wherever you listen we trust you will enjoy the Banter over Whisky. • G'day everyone and welcome to another episode of Banter over Whisky! What can I say Carmen is an absolute gun when it comes to Whisk(e)y.

As a Brand Ambassador for Brown Forman looking after American Whiskey it makes sense right? Well Carmen takes it to another level and is in fact a Master of Bourbon Candidate through the Council of Whisky Masters.

Naturally we had to do a tasting of American whiskey and of course Adrian was kind enough to supply some drams that are impossible to get in Australia and in fact 2 of the three Carmen had not tried, which is no easy feat..

This episode was a real opportunity for us to learn and I hope that you find it educational as well or at least entertaining as we had a lot of fun.

Anyway we hope you can sit and listen with a dram in a comfortable chair, but of course you can listen almost anywhere, wherever you listen we trust you will enjoy the Banter over Whisky. First and foremost we have a very special guest from Cape Byron Distillery, Eddie Brook who takes us on a journey with the story of the distillery and let me tell you there are some incredible plot twists.

Secondly this is very special as we found a whisky that Vic was yet to taste.. yes that's right there is a whisky out there that Vic doesn't own or at least sampled... actually he has now so... thats a wrap.. (kidding)

So yes we do sample a couple of Cape Byron's delicous whisky's and we can't wait for what's to come..

  • G'day everyone, welcome to another Episode of Banter over Whisky.
So this episode has been a long time coming, probably 54 episodes to be realistic, and our guest has been keen for it but the stars haven't aligned until now.
we have none other than Tim Grant from Alba Wine and Spirits but famously also from Peated Perfection fame.
Tim is a man who knows his whisky and if you don't know about it yet, he has a blog https://peatedperfection.blogspot.com/ where he shares his knowledge and of course opinion. a very interesting and informative read, we suggest you check it out.
We have a bit of fun, touch on a couple of serious subjects and of course do a review of a few whiskies. Tim was kind enough to share some samples of Benromach a distillery that probably flies under the radar a little bit.
Anyway we hope you can sit and listen with a dram in a comfortable chair, but of course you can listen almost anywhere, wherever you listen we trust you will enjoy the Banter over Whisky. After Episode 50, We had a little break and re-gathered our thoughts.

But we actually had a couple of Episodes in the bank (podcast code for misplaced) and this is one of them so sorry if there is any out of date info in there.

we actually spent some time talking to John about his new role and finding out about the establishment that he works at now.

it's a bit of an insight into his world and I think we all enjoyed the opportunity to just have a chat.

hopefully you enjoy it but either way please let us know what you think and if you would like more of this content or even something else or a particular distillery or personality you would like to hear about.

  • Hi all welcome to another episode of Banter. Recently we were approached by a regular listener with some feedback and we thought we could do worse than get them on the show. After all he is the current head distiller at an up and coming distillery in Hobart. We are talking about Luke Lawrence from Battery Point Distillery. Luke gives us a really good run down on his journey, the Distilleries journey and what is on offer now and coming up soon. Anyway we hope you can sit and listen with a dram in a comfortable chair, but of course you can listen almost anywhere, wherever you listen we trust you will enjoy the Banter over Whisky.

  • This episode we took the opportunity to have a chat about Independent Bottlers.
How are they defined? What’s the difference between an IB and barrel picks? Some of the well known ones, Australian ones. Of course we all have our favorites and we have a what’s in your glass. Of course this is probably best enjoyed in a comfy chair with a dram of your own, but short enough you could listen to it almost anywhere.
Wherever you decide to listen, we hope you enjoy the Banter over Whisky!

Unfortunately we were unable to get Camille on this time but hopefully next time.
We got an opportunity to taste some of The amazing whisky that is coming out of this distillery and while I don't want to give too much away, It's outstanding spirit.
Mark takes us through their journey and gives us a run down on how they got here and what is in store for us out of this distillery.
We really did enjoy the whisky and the chat and we are sure you will as well.
Of course this is probably best enjoyed in a comfy chair with a dram of your own, but short enough you could listen to it almost anywhere.
