This episode is extra close to my heart because Iâm sitting down with one of my long-term clients, Alannah, to talk about her naturopathy journey - the hesitations, the financial fears, the deep need for support, and what actually changed for her once she finally took the leap
What we cover in todayâs episode:
⨠Alannahâs honest experience seeing a naturopath for the second time (after her first one didnât stick)
⨠The biggest hesitations she had before starting and how she worked through them
⨠How gut health became the foundation that changed EVERYTHING for her - mood, cycles, energy
⨠Moving through mum-life overwhelm, postpartum depletion, and finding herself again
⨠Her small business journey (and how improving her health helped her grow it)
Alannah is also the owner of a small business where she hand-sews beautiful, practical baby + toddler clothing.

Endometriosis is complex. And if youâve ever felt like youâve âtried everythingâ but your symptoms still arenât shifting, this episode is for you.
In todayâs solo episode of Beyond the Bleed, Iâm breaking down the biggest reasons I see people continue to struggle with their Endo symptoms, even after making diet changes, lifestyle swaps, or working on their âoestrogen.â
If youâre stuck, overwhelmed, or starting to lose hope, I want you to know this: there is a deeper layer that often gets missed and thatâs exactly what weâre unpacking today.
In this episode, I cover:
Why surface-level changes (diet, lifestyle, supplements) arenât enough without understanding your root cause
The often-missed biochemical drivers, like SNPs in oestrogen-metabolising enzymes and elevated beta-glucuronidase
Why your Endo symptoms â like Endo belly, fatigue, headaches â are not something you just have to accept
The mindset shift that can pull you out of âgiving upâ mode
Why relying only on a GP or Gyno keeps so many Endo patients stuck
The types of practitioners you actually need on your team for holistic, sustainable progress
If youâve been feeling dismissed, unheard, or unsupported, this episode will help you understand the bigger picture of Endometriosis .

Endometriosis isnât just a painful period. Infact, itâs not even just about the physical symptoms. It takes a mental, emotional and social toll that is rarely spoken about, or even acknowledged.
In this episode of Beyond the Bleed, we chat to Naturopath & Nutritionist Alex Sheaffe (she/her) - who has learnt the hard way of how to manage heavy menstrual bleeding, fibroids and navigating a long journey to an Endometriosis diagnosis. Together we explore the hidden challenges of navigating life with Endo, the emotional labour it takes to manage your body and your life, and practical ways to reclaim control, resilience and self-compassion.
As two Naturopaths both living with Endometriosis, we get the mental load that living with Endo (suspected or diagnosedâŚor any other chronic health condition really) brings.
If youâre currently feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood or exhausted by your pelvic pain/Endo, we hope the episode helps you feel less alone in your journey - and reminds you that hope and help is out there for you!

In this episode of Beyond the Bleed, I explore why acne is always the last place to show up, and why true healing needs to be multifactorial and multi-lensed. From your gut to your nervous system, hormones, and lifestyle, your skin reflects whatâs going on beneath the surface.

After one run in 2023 that left me on the floor in the fetal position feeling clammy & nauseous with pelvic pain, I developed the belief of: âBecause of my pelvic pain, I canât run anymoreâ.
In this solo episode of Beyond the Bleed, Iâm sharing how that moment really shaped the way I related to my body AND how training for a half marathon (even though on the day I woke up and was unable to run it - more on that in the episode), helped me rebuild trust, safety, and connection with my body.
In this episode youâll learn:
How pain can create deep-seated fear and distrust in our bodiesWhy âI canâtâ is often a story built from protectionWhat training for a half marathon taught me about compassion, pacing, and body trustIf youâve ever felt disconnected from your body, or like itâs betrayed you, this episode is for you.

Ever felt the pressure to shrink yourself, hustle through your period and put your needs last?
Cos, SAME! And in this episode weâre going to do change that.
In this episode, Iâm joined by Nikita Maddren (she/her), a fellow Naturopath passionate about helping people with periods reclaim their health outside of the pressure of societal expectations.
Together, we explore how body image, food pressures, and patriarchal systems influence our cycles and the way we view our bodies. AND what it looks like to step outside those expectations to find true nourishment and connection with your body.
In this episode, we discuss:
How the patriarchy, capitalism and diet culture have shaped the way people with periods view their bodies and cyclesThe impact of diet culture on ovulation, stress, and long-term hormonal healthPractical strategies to start redefining your relationship with food and body imageTools for cultivating body neutrality and moving towards body confidenceHow small shifts in perspective can free up brain space, energy, and self-trustTune in to hear how reclaiming your cycle outside of patriarchal standards can be the first step back to freedom!!
Nikita and I would both like to acknowledge our privilege as cisgender western women in being able to sit down and have this conversation openly. We acknowledge how much of what we discussed in this episode is not possible for many AFABs and women in many parts of the world today where systemic barriers, stigma, and lack of access to healthcare mean their voices are often silenced.
