The sisters are continuing the Year of Sequels with The Skin Stealer's Son by Allison M. Kovaks! You can catch our (very) in-depth recap of the first book, Fox's Tongue and Kirin's Bone, here.
In book two we now know 75% of what's happening in the life of Aaron and discuss some of our burning questions like: What is the lady really up to? How does this doppel-ing work? Where does Aaron's allegiance lie? And, thank goodness someone finally realizes he's not Markus!! (not a question, just an observation).
But before all that, we spend a substantial amount of time talking about Candi's upcoming trip to Mexico (flying over the Gulf of America?), Candi's origin story of why she hates tomatoes, and a new game "what weird thing did your family do?" The winner of this game is the infamous Reddit post about the poop knife, but we would love to know what strange things your family did too- Send us an email at [email protected] !

The Bookalicious Sisters revisit the beautiful world of Marsyas Island by TJ Klune as recommended by one of our listeners (We see you Defy Gravity/Guy35!)
While met with familiar faces, there is a tonal shift in TJ's writing - one of frustration and hurt that seeps through these chapters. To better understand where TJ is coming from, Candice prepares background material that TJ references throughout the book (links below for Spotify users!)
We do our best to discuss these very heavy topics, but we might not get it 100% right! If you think we missed something please let us know [email protected]

Join the sisters as they wrap up The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine! We laugh, we cry, we talk about how great Vollys is as a villain, how crazy Addie and Rhys' relationship is, and how much we love the sisters. We read reviews on Reddit and Goodreads and disagree any that aren't perfect 5's. 1 listen = 1 vote for turning this into a Gail exclusive podcast.
We hope you enjoy this book as much as we did! Join us next week for TJ Klune 2.0: Somewhere Beyond the Sea
Move that Bus! (crack that nut!)
-
We're completing the trifecta and reading one of our other childhood classics from our favorite, Gail Carson Levine! This book is under-appreciated but we think it's our favorite one yet. Join us as we talk all things Bamarre, including: Is Addie's solution to "think positive thoughts" enough to cure cancer? Why is Meryl such a toot? Red flag or deal breaker for our hunky sorcerer Rhys? And our vocab game, What do you Le-Mean?
Plus, we chat about Chrissy's school update, the top secret lab at Candi's alma mater that was housed in an entirely glass building, and Chrissy's adventure in a stairwell. Thanks for joining our club!

Join us for Part 2 of ACOTAR by Sarah J. Maas! Some of the topics discussed include:
- Is Tamtam an F-boy or a lover boy?
- Should you really do whatever brings you joy?
- Did the naga give Feyre a lobotomy because what else could explain her sudden personality shift?
- What's the deal with Nesta and is she secret hero or secret villain?
Next week we'll FINISH the book!! In the meantime, send us questions to [email protected] for a Q&A episode! We'd love to hear from you!
-
Join the Bookalicious girlies for Part 1 of Sarah J. Maas’ best selling novel A Court of Throne & Roses which came highly recommended from Friend of Pod - Lexi!
The sisters postulate why this series is considered YA when it feels more A. Candice’s final assessment is that due to Feyre being insufferable, the series was classified as YA. Feyre is SO insufferable Chrissy wonders if she actually likes YA or if she only likes John Greene.
-
We finish our first Agatha book just in time for Christie-mas! Topics covered include:
- Picture This emoji game
- Plot recap (and maybe plot holes?)
- Pearls of wisdom from Agatha
- TikTok-donut vs Myspace-sandwich
and more!!
We gave this book a 5.0 (after rounding up from a 4.9). We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
Next up on the docket:
End of year Q&A: Send us allll your questions! Thoughts on a book? Theory you'd like to share? Questions for us? Send 'em all at [email protected]

Get into the Christie-mas spirit as the Bookalicious girlies get into a Christmas Muuuuurder Mystery by Agatha Christie - Hercule Poirot Christmas!
We start off with a very detailed author recap on Dame Agatha Christie uncovering some of Agatha’s mysteries and her slightly circular family tree. The sisters get into the minds of the killer by plotting and scheming their own murder strategy of Old Simeon Lee. Candice gets skeeved by everyone sexualizing the very young Pilar & Chrissy convinces Candice that David is NOT a closeted 1920’s gay.
Thanks for joining and make sure to email us your questions for a Reader Q&A episode coming up!

Candice and Chrissy rehash Fox's Tongue and, by the end of it, know about 65% of what just happened. BUT we are here to deliver all of our wisdom from the book so you may know more about what's going on!!
And, in the beginning, we discuss our own Gypsy Rose experience and whether cottage cheese is only for old people. Thanks for joining our club!
-
Join us as we recap part one of Fox's Tongue and Kirin's Bone by Allison M. Kovaks! If you haven't heard of this book, we highly recommend it. And we especially recommend listening to our recap as you read to help sift through the many moving parts of this tale.
In the author summary, Candice doesn't talk at all about Allison Kovaks and instead explains all the German and Japanese folktale lore behind the book, so now the book makes a lot more sense to Chrissy. We use the magic of Mariah Carey to figure out what's happening in this book and make predictions for next time.
Thanks for joining our club!
**Next on the docket is Hercule Poirot's Christmas by Agatha Christie! Get your copy today to read along with us!**

Thank you for joining our club and make sure to visit Kindred Kindles!

Join us as we read the childhood classic (and the beginning of the fantasy genre as we know it??) The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald!
We begin with a (very) detailed biography on George MacDonald (had a farm?) before summarizing the book and then sharing our thoughts on the plot, the princess, Lootie, and goblin feet (among other things).
We would love to hear what you thought about this book! Snooze-fest? Beloved childhood tale? Let us know at [email protected]!

In the final part of The Housemaid's Secret, Freida McFadden jumps out of her spaceship and into another one as she lands this story in a way we never could have guessed. We've got LOTS of thoughts on the final murder that went down, the Spirit of Killie, and how super-ninja Marybeth learned all her skills on the car ride over. We have many questions for Freida and even draft an email *live* that we sent to our new favorite author.
We hope you loved this book as much as we did! Join us next week as we start Fox's Tongue and Kirin's Bone! (**edit- we're actually starting The Princess and the Goblin!)
Looking for more book club material (and Frieda content)? Check out Kindred Kindles on Spotify!

Another Housemaid, another rocket ship! Candice and Chrissy discuss how this mystery is unfolding, including:
- How does Millie get bamboozled so easily?
- Why is BrockBot such a bad lawyer?
- Why is Wendy a better assassin than Millie?
- Will Enzo join forces with Millie, Bonnie and Clyde style, or is he actually playing double agent?
- And, most importantly- Is this series really just Amelia Bedelia for adults?
And before all that, a shout-out to Guy56 (53? 47? All the Guys!) who requested we do Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune! Candi is currently on a 6-month waitlist for this book so, if you'd like to join us in reading it, maybe put your name on the waitlist too.
