In July of 2023, Stacey agreed to sponsor a #soilyourundies challenge for SJND High School's AP Biology class. KENT provided us 26 pairs of their Hipster Underwear, which we buried in the forgotten garden bed behind the school’s offices. 2 months later, in April of 2024, they were unearthed and the results of the experiment were jaw dropping.

  • Ben utilizes drone photography, satellite data, and LiDAR technology to create stunning topographic maps. These maps not only showcase the landscape's beauty but also provide vital insights into its hydrology, making them essential for permaculture designers. By meticulously analyzing the terrain's features, such as contour and slope, Ben's maps serve as invaluable tools for understanding water movement. This knowledge guides his permaculture strategies, ensuring a harmonious integration of human design and natural systems that prioritize water conservation and sustainability.

  • Back in 2017, Tim and Jon wrote a paper about a unique and audacious experiment in Costa Rica. Truckloads of Orange peels were dumped onto degraded pasture in the late 1990's, and left to decompose. The result is renewed forest with increased biodiversity, which begs the question: where else in the world can agricultural waste streams help restore degraded soil?
