Which Detroit Lions SAF would you want for this season?

    Reddit u/Maximum-Examination1

I think it's too early to see the 3rd thru 5 round rookies that beat out incumbent starters. I like NE Marte Mapu. Brian Branch of the Lions' 1st safety is probably high. Jammie Robinson if Jeremy Chinn is more big Nickel or both see the field. Chris Smith LVR. Antonio Johnson if he can beat Rashawn Jennings and love Andre Cisco. Sydney Brown Eagles lost the secondary player's 2nd safety was probably high. Camarillo Cornee on KC if good news teams got to play catchup. Brandon Hill if he wins Texans suck. It's more about reading camp news. Looking for nickel safety players to see the field?

    Facebook u/Andrew

I'm curious about whether you should be getting any New York Giants linebackers not named Bobby Okereke. I believe that because the Giants are investing so little into the inside linebacker position and they might give Xavier McKinney the green dot, he's one of the top safeties to pick up. I'll take your thoughts on that.

Vikings released LB Eric Kendricks. Kendricks was in the final season of a five-year extension, but the Vikings opted to move on from the 31-year-old. Rams released LB Bobby Wagner, Wagner's release will free up at least $5 million in cap savings. The Titans released LB Zach Cunningham. Cunningham's release saves Tennessee $8.9 million while incurring a $4.5 million dead cap hit. They also released EDGE Bud Dupree ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Chiefs are expected to release EDGE Frank Clark. The Rams are expected to release EDGE Leonard Floyd. Per ESPN's Field Yates, releasing Floyd would clear $3 million in cap space if done now. However, with a post-June 1 designation, they could spread out his dead money over two seasons and create $15 million in 2023 cap space. The Rams will reportedly look to trade Floyd if possible, but his time with the team appears to have come to an end. Commanders released DB Bobby McCain. McCain's release saves the team $4.42 million, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting that McCain was the "odd man out" with the Commanders having young talent in the secondary. The Athletic's Jeff Howe reports a trade of Rams CB Jalen Ramsey to Dallas is "picking up steam in league circles." The Athletic's Nate Taylor writes Chiefs DT Chris Jones wants an extension "that will make him at least the second-highest player at his position." As expected, the Commanders assigned the franchise tag to DL Daron Payne. The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia writes he expects the Bills to "put their best foot forward" to retain LB Tremaine Edmunds. The Score's Jordan Schultz reports Colts LB Bobby Okereke "has a significant market" and could sign a deal "in the $12-14M range, per season." The Athletic's Daniel Popper writes it is "unlikely" the Chargers will exercise Kenneth Murray's fifth-year option. Big Shoutout to MFL for the move towards true position with the IDP position designations.Main EventCombine ReviewLinebackers Who was an LB who stood out to you and helped their draft stock? We also have an opening in one of our listener leagues. It's free but a very competitive league. Offense & defense dynasty league looking for a good owner.

    News and Notes

Two Eagles have flown away as former Philadelphia OC Shane Steichen was recently hired as the Colts' new Head Coach while former DC Jonathan Gannon was hired as the Cardinals' Head Coach.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports the Eagles are expected to "make a big push" to keep S Chauncey Gardner-Johnson this offseason.

The leader for the Denver Broncos' open DC job is Rex Ryan, followed by Vance Joseph and Kris Richard.

49ers EDGE Nick Bosa has been named the Associated Press 2022 Defensive Player of the Year. Bosa produced 51 tackles (41 solos), 19 TFL, a league-leading 18.5 sacks, and 48 QB hits this season.

Jets CB Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner has been named the Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year. Gardner had a stellar rookie season compiling 75 tackles (51 solos), 3 TFLs, a league-leading 20 passes defended, and 2 interceptions.

ESPN's Rich Cimini expects the Jets to release DE Carl Lawson. The Jets have $37 million tied up in Lawson ($15M) and LB C.J. Mosley ($22M). Releasing Lawson would clear his entire $15 million salary while Mosley could be asked to restructure.

Washington coach Ron Rivera said the team has opened contract talks with DT Daron Payne. The Commanders didn't extend Payne last offseason, letting Payne play out his fifth-year option. Payne went on to produce career-highs in tackles (64), sacks (11.5), TFL (18), QB hits (20), and passes defended (5).

The Athletic's Zac Jackson writes "it feels like" John Johnson won't be back with the Browns in 2023. Johnson had a down season and is one of Cleveland's best avenues to clear cap space this offseason. He's got a $13.5 million cap number and the Browns can save $12.6 million by cutting him.

The Athletic's Matt Barrows writes the 49ers are "unlikely" to pick up Javon Kinlaw's fifth-year option in May. Ravens DE Calais Campbell announced he would return for a 16th season in 2023.
