Welcome back to the pod! After a short break we are happy to welcome Yamini from Rescue Dog Love Pod to our first episode back. Yamini represents the millennial take on the rescue world through her podcast, and many many reels she posts on Instagram. We spent an admittedly long time chatting with Yamini about the loves of her life... Boss and Queenie (pretty sure we mention her partner Dan also), her rescue experience and how she get started, and of course dissect the differences of our generations. It's a long but entertaining episode, so grab a snack or two and enjoy!

Episodes manquant?

Each year countless dogs are dumped, surrendered, or saved from an unsafe situation. Those dogs are then thrust into the shelter system as they wait for humans to come and take them home. The unfortunate reality is that the Canadian and US shelter systems are overrun and underfunded to provide the love and care the millions of dogs in their possession deserve. Millions of friendly dogs, small dogs, big dogs, purebred dogs, and even puppies are set to be euthanized each year, purely due to lack of funding. So the question then arises…. Is it ethical to breed thousands and thousands of puppies when the western world is already faced with the problem of overpopulation? Why not adopt instead of shop?

Back to school season is upon us!
This episode is a short and sweet catch up as we prepare for school and prepare to jump back into fostering.
Adoption Spotlight
Today's adoption spotlight is Blue Lacy Mix Herrah. Herrah has a special place in my heart as she came from Texas along with my last foster Corn. She is a beautiful, goofy, 3 year old who loves humans!
Herrah is the most affectionate dog you will ever meet, she is beyond smart and is quick to learn new commands. She is 100% crate and potty trained Herrah has an unknown past and displays some leash reactivity, unfortunately, many potential adopters can’t look past this to see her shining personality. All sweet Herrah wants is to find a family who she can love 24/7. To learn more about Herrah visit fetchandreleash.ca or find her on Instagram @the_foster_moms_

This episode is super special! With advice and questions from our followers we take a deep dive into how reactivity manifests itself in the dog world, and what makes it such a tricky thing to deal with. We chat about what may trigger your dog (and why), what reactivity might look like, and how to work through it.
* Please keep in mine we are NOT dog trainers in any aspect and are purely sharing our experiences. If you are struggling with reactivity please reach out to a trainer you trust!*

Daisy is an 8-month-old Bulldog mix, looking for her forever home! Daisy loves to cuddle and just wants to be with her humans, big or small! Daisy also enjoys spending time with other K9 companions and could thrive with another dog in the home. This beautiful baby was born without a tail and will continue to require the use of diapers on a long-term basis due to her urinary and fecal incontinence. Daisy is a medium-energy dog and is highly food motivated. She already knows how to sit, shake, and lie down. Plus she's fully crate trained!
