Joseph Smith, shortly after he escaped from Liberty Jail, made his way to Nauvoo, met with the 12, and shared with them about a vision he saw.
:I saw men hunting the lives of their own sons, and brothers murdering brothers, women killing their own daughters, and daughters seeking the lives of their mothers. I saw armies arrayed against armies, I saw blood desolation, fires, etc., The son of man hath said that mother shall be against daughter and daughter against mother. These things are at our doors. Elder Jedediah M. Grant was present when Joseph described what he had seen to some of the brethren. He said that Joseph told them he had gazed upon the scene his vision presented until his heart sickened, and he besought the Lord to close it up again. (Grant, improvement era, February 1915, 287)
