  • The more control you have in your life, the more free you are. It may sound counter-intuitive, but it’s true, and in this episode Alexis tells us why.

Alexis Fernandez is the host of the podcast Do You F*ing Mind, she has a Masters of Neuroscience, she's obsessed with the brain, and thankfully for us, she is REALLY good at explaining how it works. We wanted to speak with her about discipline and oh boy...did she blow our minds 🤯

In this episode, Alexis explains why discipline isn't something to be scared of and how it gives you more control and freedom to choose the life you want.

Plus Alexis shares how she used discipline in her own life to get over a breakup, level up her career and transform her life.

  • Tell us you’re married without telling us you’re married. In a recent wardrobe clean out, Laura discovered an old drawer of sexy underwear (aka: barely there lace underwear that would give you thrush by looking at it) and realised she’s happy to never wear it again. If you’re in a long term relationship and you’re getting dressed up or having sex anywhere that’s not a bed with sheets on it - good for you!

Then we open the KICMAIL Box and hear what you think of our book reccos, pelvic pain and break up stories, and how you’re smashing the Kic run program.

And we introduce a new NICHE segment. If you have cracked heels, this one’s for you. Check out Power Podiatry if you’re interested: https://www.powerpodiatrybrighton.com.au/contact

  • If you have legs…you have legging legs. That’s it. In our catch up today we chat about the viral TikTok body trend "legging legs" aka what Millennials will remember as the "thigh gap". Thankfully the search term has been banned by TikTok and we hope this is the first and last time we speak about it. Our bodies aren’t trends and leggings are for everyone.

  • Sam and Izzy are figuring it out. After less than a year of full-time social media, the pair started their podcast ‘Just For Girls’ to chat, learn and figure shit out, and it has well and truly BLOWN up.

We asked for your questions and got Sam & Izzy’s answers: do people take you seriously? What do your parents think about what you do? How’s your friendship? What really goes on at influencer events? And we (Millennials) ask for their Gen-Z opinion on what’s hot and what’s not in 2024.

In this episode Sam also opens up about navigating an eating disorder.

  • Kim was 27 weeks pregnant with her first daughter when she noticed a tiny amount of bleeding. After almost a week in hospital, and a traumatic birth experience, Kim gave birth to Elsie. Elsie then spent 11 weeks in the NICU and in that time, Kim and her husband Greg learned that Elsie had suffered a brain injury through pregnancy or birth and she was given a diagnosis of spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy.

In this episode, Kim shares her story with Steph: her mostly straightforward pregnancy with Elsie, Elsie’s traumatic birth, their NICU stay and how it felt to finally hold Elsie for the first time, learning of Elsie’s brain injury, finding support online from parents of children with disabilities, and the decision to have a second baby.

Thanks to Kic community member Kim for reaching out with her story. We hope her story helps other parents going through similar things feel less alone.

  • Taryn Brumfitt is a body image activist, documentary director, writer, speaker, and the 2023 Australian Of The Year. Taryn created the documentary ‘Embrace’ to help us change the way we think about our bodies and ‘Embrace Kids’ to teach 9-14 year olds how to respect, move and nourish their bodies.

Kids learn their first messages about food, movement and body image from their parents but parents can’t control what messages their kids learn outside the home. This is where Body Blocks comes in: a free learning resource for childhood educators.

In this moving conversation, Taryn joins Steph to discuss how Taryn has reframed the parts of her body that changed through childbirth and feeding 4,000 meals to her children, the impact that parents’ and teachers’ language can have on kids for years afterwards, and the importance of sending positive messages to kids even if you don’t always feel them inside.
