In today’s episode, we met up with the multi-instrumentalist talent that is Zac from the American pop rock band HANSON, in a hotel bar in The Westminster Hotel in London. Hanson, probably best known for their smash hit song MMMbop, have been nominated for 3 Grammys, and sold over 16 million records worldwide…May 6th has even been declared ‘Hanson Day’ in their hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Listening back to this episode had us in stitches laughing and we hope it does the same for you too, Zac had so much energy, and with 3 decades worth of tour stories we somehow managed to cram them into this episode, we couldn’t think of a better way to finish Series 2!
Stay tuned to hear stories of surviving stage invasions, what happens when 6000 people turn up to a small performance in a mall, how to act when the legs of your drum kit break mid-song forcing your kick drum to literally roll off stage, and what to do when presented with a decaying rotten apple in a glass cage which you apparently took a bite out of several years earlier!

In today’s episode, we met up with Aston Merrigold from JLS, in a hotel bar in central London. As ¼ of one of the UK’s biggest ever boy bands, JLS chalked up an impressive five No. 1 singles, sold over 6 million records, and won 2 Brit awards. They’ve headlined London’s 02 Arena a whopping 16 times and shifted more than 1.4 million live tickets during their four album career… all four of which went multi-platinum.
Today’s podcast was a real rollercoaster of emotions: there were moments when we were howling with laughter and moments when we got deep into analysing what happiness and success even is.
Expect stories of Vegas memory loss, why JLS have a no white towel policy in their dressing room, impromptu arena power cut acapellas, and getting a life-changing phone call from the Jackson family.

In today’s episode, we met up with Alice Merton in our favorite hotel bar, you guessed it, Islington’s Hilton Hotel Bar.

In today’s episode, we met up with the multitalented, fountain of musical knowledge and living legend Andy Burrows from Razorlight. Due to a last-minute change of scheduling, we ended up recording the episode in his dressing room instead of the usual hotel bar.
Andy is best known as being the drummer for indie sensations Razorlight. A band who have sold upwards of 4 million albums, sold out arena tours, and headlined festivals across the world. The band’s single ‘America’ went to number one here in the UK and was actually written by Andy himself. Outside of Razorlight, Andy has also achieved success as a solo artist, soundtrack composer, actor and was even a founding member of Ricky Gervais’ infamous Foregone conclusion.
Stay tuned to hear stories of reusable wet wipes, what it’s like to be in a band with David Brent, being victims of an accidental assassination attempt while returning home from a show in Russia & how to deal with a drunk bassist who refuses to play anything other than ‘come as you are’ by Nirvana whilst playing mainstage at the Isle of Wight festival...

In today’s episode, we met up with Irish pop sensations, Picture This, in a hotel bar in Camden the morning after their sold-out headline show at Koko. And in a ‘Meet At The Hotel Bar’ first, we had not one, but two members of the band, Jimmy and Ryan. The band's debut album went triple-platinum and went to #1 on Ireland's Overall Chart for four weeks. Since then all of their 3 albums have reached #1 on the Irish charts. The band have over 450 million total streams, have sold out arenas (including a five-night stand at Dublin's 3 Arena), and headlined Electric Picnic's Main Stage!

In today’s conversation, we sit down with the truly unique, John Rhino Edwards, AKA Freddie's Dad. He’s best known for being the bassist in the rock group Status Quo but has also toured with the likes of Dexys Midnight Runners, Kim Wilde, and Judie Tzuke to name a few. We met up on a sunny Tuesday afternoon in a hotel in London, the day after he’d got back from a show in Bilbao. We’d also like to add that, while this episode might suggest otherwise, Rhino really isn’t a violent person and we don’t condone fighting in any way.
Today you’ll hear stories about how he got his place in Status Quo, what got them into the Guinness world records, the origin story of his nickname Rhino and why Freddie ended up in a helicopter.
This is RHINO from STATUS QUO coming up on 'Meet At The Hotel Bar'!
Prepare for a stampede...

In today’s episode, we met up with the infectiously fun and self-proclaimed Jack of all trades, Natti from Fickle Friends. Fickle Friends continue to release banger after banger and have toured all over since forming in 2013. Fun Fact… Natti is actually the first guest that Flawes have officially collaborated with in the past (if you don’t count the various Ella songs JC played on and the song we wrote with Thom). Fickle Friends did a remix of 'Here To Stay' that we released a couple of years ago!
Stay tuned to hear nightmare stories on stage in Bingley, Natti’s guide to securing work with Harry Styles and an array of off-topic tangents seemingly beginning with the letter C - caves, car insurance, curries, cats, and coffee.
This is NATTI from FICKLE FRIENDS coming up on ‘Meet At The Hotel Bar’! -
In today's episode, we met up with the amazingly talented and knowledgeable, Thom Powers. Thom is an incredibly gifted songwriter, producer, and musician, and is best known for playing in his band, The Naked and Famous. We were out in LA writing and recording our second album and met up with Thom at our hotel bar after a session.
Stay tuned to hear stories of beef with Machine Gun Kelly, a spoiler alert for bake-off 2021, and Freddie’s impression of Huss’ mum.
This is THOM from THE NAKED AND FAMOUS coming up on 'Meet At The Hotel Bar'!

In today’s episode, we met up with the incredibly interesting and fantastically spoken Hugh from the Kooks. Having begun his touring life at the tender age of 15 Hugh continues to tour the world with one of the biggest bands of the last 20 years! They have scored number 1 albums, have headlined festivals across Europe, and toured the world over!
TODAY however was a first for ‘Meet At The Hotel Bar’... JC sadly tested positive for Covid so it was up to Freddie and Huss to hold the fort whilst JC called in from his quarantined bedroom.
Stay tuned to hear stories of beef with pretty much every UK band in the mid-noughties, how to successfully ask for Kylie Minogue's phone number, actual band fist fights whilst drunk on Kraken rum, and Hughs's favorite fan fantasy erotic fiction. Yes… we went there!
This is HUGH FROM THE KOOKS coming up on 'Meet At The Hotel Bar'!

In today’s episode, we met up with the talented and hilarious man, Dan from The Wombats, in a hotel bar in Clapham. The Wombats have released 5 studio albums, their latest 'Fix Yourself, Not The World' hitting the number one spot! They’ve toured the world, winning over fans with their infectious hooks and tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, and also recently headlined at the mighty O2 arena.
This was one of our favorite episodes we’ve done. Dan was probably the most talkative guest yet, we spoke for hours and actually had to cut down so much of our conversation to fit it into a presentable single episode… (maybe one day we’ll release an uncut version!). It was actually the first episode where a fellow hotel bar drinker, actually pulled up a chair to listen to our conversation too. Our very own studio audience!
Stay tuned to hear stories of how to survive terrible reviews while touring the east coast of Norway, tour managers appearing from nowhere and falling from stage, the adventures of their trusty travel companion Steve the squirrel, and what happens when you bring magical gummy bears on tour.
This is DAN FROM THE WOMBATS coming up on ‘Meet At The Hotel Bar’!

In this week’s episode, we met up with the amazing, Ella Eyre in a hotel bar in London. Ella has won BritAwards, Mobo Awards, toured the world over, had a number-one single, and has one of the best, and most instantly recognisable vocals out there! Now, as you’ll find out with all the stories of tour shenanigans, JC and Ella go way back so it was a mad trip down memory lane for this one. Expect tales of “cursed” tour nightmares, tour bus crashes in Ireland, why she was expelled from school, and why laser quest is the best day off activity. This is ELLA EYRE coming up on ‘Meet at the hotel bar’!
-
In this week’s episode, we rendezvoused with the amazing Woody from Bastille in a hotel bar in Bournemouth, on day one of their world tour in promotion of their 4th studio album ‘Give MeThe Future’! Bastille are one of the biggest bands out there, they’ve won brit awards, had number-one albums, headlined festivals, sold out arenas across the world and as you’ll soon find out are famously some of the nicest guys on the touring circuit.
Expect stories of their truly unique rider requests, their genius response to being held ransom and blackmailed for €250K, days off in banana museums, and fake beef with Alt-J.
This is WOODY from BASTILLE coming up on ‘Meet at The Hotel Bar’. -
In this week’s episode, our debut episode, we sat down to chat with the legend that is Chris from Muse, in a hotel bar in the outskirts of London. He really needs no introduction whatsoever... it doesn't get any bigger than MUSE, having scored Six No 1 albums, 2 Brit awards and 2 Grammys. They’ve headlined the pyramid stage at Glastonbury a mind-blowing three times, headlined pretty much every other festival and they continue to sell out stadiums across the world from Buenos Aires to Wembley!
The three of us grew up as massive muse fans so we were super excited to sit down with Chris for this conversation. He was extremely generous with his time and was surprisingly down to earth given what Muse have accomplished!
Expect stories of dangerous nights out with the Strokes, private jetting with Bono, low-blow insults from The Stereophonics, exactly how Matt Bellamy learnt to sing, and enough diarrhea stories to last you a lifetime!
This is CHRIS from MUSE coming up on ‘Meet at the hotel bar’
