  • 104: to live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffering with Rhys Ibbott

    · #MerryBiz

"He had been out running and collapsed on the side of the road. No one knew what had happened and they thought he had been hit by a car so they didn't want to touch him. A woman, named Valerie was driving by and noticed the commotion around a lifeless body. She jumped out of her car in the middle of traffic and started giving CPR. When she initially started, people shouted at her to stop as she could be causing more damage, but she said she knew he needed serious help. He was lying on the ground with his eyes wide open and had no pulse, so she immediately started CPR. She performed CPR for 5 mins on her own..." This excerpt is from our guest's cousin, recapping the first cardiac arrest Rhys experienced at age 26.  We'd heard bits and pieces of Rhys' journey during Yoga Teacher Training (this is how we met) but after sitting down with Rhys for just over 2 hours, hearing his story being told so openly and all at once was... and that's where we get stuck. There are so many words to describe Rhys' story. When you listen you'll experience one, two, maybe all of these: inspiration, gratitude, compassion, empathy, passion.  This is an excerpt from Rhys, 'a former letter to myself', recapping just after his first cardiac arrest: "This event turns your world upside down, 2 days later you wake up in Hammersmith hospital and start to make sense of all the crazy things that have happened. That outlet of running and hardcore physical exercise to alleviate your stress has been taken away from you, and once you return home you fall into a deep bought of depression. You decide to remain in London, and start back at work soon after getting out of hospital going about your daily life as if nothing has happened. Denial is what seems to be at play here. You are very weak and constantly fatigued following the accident. Working, partying, and the inability to see the severity of what has happened to you causes several problems in your life. You continue to fall into a deeper state of depression and soon you decide to leave teaching for a while." You can tell just from reading this that this episode is very different to anything we've ever shared before. We focus on the story and then we get into the big learnings that have come from Rhys' experience.  Rhys goes on to finish his letter: "Have faith in your ability and always be kind to the people around you. Spend every day mastering your health and fostering strong and meaningful relationships. Your journey is only just beginning." Be sure to tune into this one, it's full of gold, just like Rhys.  Support Rhys' Everyday Hero fundraiser for Heart Care Foundation. Check out Drop Consulting: aims to enhance understanding of self, culture, wellbeing and performance. Merrymaker mantra of the week... the judge of all Earth shall do right. Which means, lead by example. Do YOU first, which will then influence others around you.  Sending out huge LOVE to Rhys for being so vulnerable and open with his story. By just you doing that you have inspired many. Always merrymaking, Emma + Carla

  • 103: 5 things I didn't think Yoga Teacher Training would teach me

    · #MerryBiz

10 weeks have passed since I started Yoga Teacher Training with Essence of Living here on the Gold Coast, that means I'm done! Certified yogi: tick ;)  I seriously can't believe how fast 10 weekends went. That's 20 days. 200 hours. Boom. Going into the training I knew I would learn a heap of stuff. I mean I was about to spend 10 weeks in yoga land... how could I not learn some cool stuff? BUT I wasn't prepared for the epicness of the learnings and the changes that I went through. From the get go, I had this knowing that I was supposed to do my yoga training... it wasn't a matter of if, it was just a matter of when. So to be able to finally go on this adventure was a freaking blessing in itself, and thank you to Michelle, founder of Essence of Living for having the belief in me and for making this happen. But let's get into the good stuff... you're here because you wanna know the surprising things I learnt BUT let's quickly cover the unsurprising stuff I learnt... (all kind of duh moments)... epic yoga technique (during the 10 weeks I did a total of 91 hours of yoga practice... that's a lot I reckon), so my down dawwwgs are pretty much #onpoint most days #10xselfbelief ;) really cool breathing techniques aka pranayama that literally change your thoughts in minutes and the physicality of your body (if you do them enough)... that's freaking cool. I'll be sharing some of these inside our next Challenge! some Sanskrit. This is the ancient Indian language that the yoga teachings are written in. One of my goals for 2017 was to learn a new language, I feel like this could almost tick that off :P. Because, Utthita Hasta Padangustasana. Seriously, that is so fun to say. Extended-hand-to-big-toe pose if you're wondering (you totally were).  how to meditate. I also got a hell-o-va lot more inspired to meditate too... because we talked about the benefits A LOT (that's like a whole other 50 blog posts). bones, muscles and all the systems of the magical human body. That I have an 'Ether' body type. Ok so this wasn't really a duh moment because I didn't really know there were different body types like: air, fire, water, earth and ether... but because this was part of the Ayurvedic day we did it wasn't a surprise that I learned this. Basically, it means that I should learn lots and focus on the big picture/creativity ;). Ok yay, for better yoga and yay for all that cool stuff... but let's get to the juicy stuff. The stuff that came out of the woodworks and hit me like a big freaking AHA! moment more than a few times during the 10 weeks.  Enthusiasm is a super power we all have... you just have to use it I love being enthusiastic about pretty much everything, it makes life way more fun and magical. I was described as 'Carla is very enthusiastic' multiple times on school reports. I remember looking it up in the dictionary in year 5. Ready for the surprise? Being enthusiastic about your goals, your life and realising your higher purpose makes it all come to reality faster. It's not woo-woo crap. Think about it. If you're enthusiastic about what you're doing, if you're truly excited and passionate OF COURSE it's going to come faster... because you're actually doing. If you were complaining, procrastinating and taking zero action, then you'll get zero results or change.  Flashback to high school when I wanted the lead role in the school musical. I enthusiastically asked my Mum for singing lessons so I had the best chance at scoring the lead. I practised every day. I prepared. I was excited and shared my enthusiasm with the Director of the show (pretty much every day until the audition :P, over kill? Maybe!).  Either way, I got the lead. Even though I wasn’t the best singer, the best dancer… I showed up with enthusiasm. Be impeccable with your words Choose your words carefully and speak only when you truly have something meaningful to say. I LOVE to talk. Em and I recently realised how many random conversations we have when we're working. It may be because we spend so (too) much time together that we run out of 'normal' stuff to talk about so we get into the weird and wonderful.  Either way, I talk a lot. So when I learnt the term 'be impeccable with your word' it really forced me to self-reflect and catch myself in moments when I was talking just because I wanted to fill the space. Usually, it was because the silence made me uncomfortable or I didn't agree with something so felt I had to voice it (why are you uncomfortable, Carla? Do you really need to be 'right' all the time?). Not judging here... just noticing, questioning. Not only is this about choosing your words carefully and using them when necessary... it's also about keeping to your word. Doing the things you say you're going to do. Integrity. That's always been a value of mine anyway, so I liked that it popped up in the yoga teachings.  It's not what you do... it's how you do it It definitely is what you do but it's definitely more how you do it. Because you can DO all the yoga classes... but are you really, truly showing up with enthusiasm, commitment, passion and giving it your all? If you're not then maybe it's not your thing. When you show up... SHOW. UP. Not with half your ass... with your full ass. Not with a cranky ass, with a kind ass. I'm not sure why I'm saying ass all the time but we have that quote hanging up in our office/lounge and I think it's kinda perfect. Let's use clearing your inbox as a fun (ha!) example. How do you usually act when you read and respond to your hundreds of emails per day? Are you like: why the frig is this person emailing me... again? I wish I had zero emails. Email is the worst. idea. ever in the history of ideas! Without a doubt, I bet if you went back and read some of your sent emails when in that cranky-ass mind space you'd surprise yourself. I know I've re-read sent emails and thought... oops, that was a bit rude slash a lot rude. And then I'd make some excuse as to why I was rude, when in actual fact I was just being rude... because. And that just ain't Merry.  Now, if I ever get in that space, I've taught myself to get out of the inbox. Abort all drafts and just leave. Even if it means I don't respond in 2-3 days, I still leave.  Imagine if you responded when you were calm and kind. Your emails would have so many exclamations and emojis (well, mine do :P) and the receiver will feel all the cozy love.  A simple example, huh?! But I know it's something I struggle with and I'm pretty sure the rest of email land does too.  Where else are you showing up but not really showing up? A question I now keep in my pocket at all times.  Detach detach detach OMG this one seriously had me talking (impeccably, of course) for weeks. It was probably the theme of the day in Merrymaker land for the majority of the Yoga Teacher Training. Not to mention it kept popping up in books, podcasts and other conversations too... synchronicity? I think YES!  I feel like the reason I wanted to talk about it more was because of how much it made me stop and question wellbeing, business, happiness and relationships (life in general). The idea of detachment is that you detach yourself from EV-ER-RY-THING. The idea of detachment is that you detach yourself from EV-ER-RY-THING. It's a weird idea that I hadn't ever thought of before. And man oh man... I was attached to A LOT OF STUFF.  Yep. Detachment from reaching goals. Detachment from people you love. Detachment from food. Detachment from weather. Detachment from everything. It means whatever the weather, it doesn't change who you are (hello, I used to complain about the cold ALL. THE. TIME... ok I still do sometimes, oops). If the cafe doesn't make your coffee 'right', it doesn't scar your day (even though today my chai wasn't as good as yesterday... eek, see gotta practise more!). Whether you reach the goal or not, it doesn't bother you. This doesn't mean you get a free pass to be lazy. You still give it all you got (note: the how you show up lesson). It means that if the plan doesn't turn out the way you thought it would, that all is well... and just know that the way it turned out is the way it was supposed to.  Practising detachment is game changer. Nothing can stop you. Nothing can bring you down. You're like water, you flow, sometimes fast, sometimes slow and you elegantly bend around the rocks (obstacles). HOW to love myself (not just the idea that I should love myself) Self love and compassion has been part of my journey from the very beginning of starting Merrymakers. I remember watching Louise Hay's documentary You Can Heal Your Life 4 years ago.  That's when I first started mirror work. This is where I'd say words of affirmations to myself while looking in a mirror. There's a bunch of other self love things I've tried but nothing had re-wired the brain pathway to default to self love.  Before I started Yoga Teacher Training I was still very much in a self loathe mindset... I'd say 70:30 self loathe to self love ratio. Boo.  The first day of Yoga Teacher Training with Essence of Living we went around the circle and said why we were here. I wasn't really sure as I waited for my turn but then as I started introducing myself, I told everyone that I wanted to learn to love myself and to ACTUALLY love myself. Not just every now but like ALL. THE. FREAKING. TIME.  I can't tell you the exact turning point of when the ratio flipped (now it's like 5:95!) but I know that practising yoga, the postures, the breathing (pranayama), the meditation and the focus on learning new stuff that I'm actually interested in all played a huge part in showing me HOW to love myself. And let me tell you...IT FEELS GOOD. Like really good.  My training for this particular course is done but just like a friend told me... now you have a lifetime of yoga training ahead.  Always merrymaking, Carla xxx

  • 102: the anxiety episode with Jonny Yang

    · #MerryBiz

Jonny Yang, the acupuncturist, traditional Chinese practitioner... actually just an amazing guy. He shared a heap of magic on this episode. The thing we like the most is that all the stuff he shares comes with a bunch of action steps. Action steps to help your anxiety and so much more.  The main reason we wanted to chat about Anxiety was because Jonny helped me (Emma) with my anxiety.  Which came about from my break up. I'd never ever really truly suffered from anxiety, not like this anyway. The up all night, can not sleep for a week level (seriously, sucked so bad). I felt so disconnected from myself. I literally felt like I had a different human living inside me and she was not shutting up. She was just going on and on and on.  I used an old addiction to try help me. Exercise.  One day I did an hour of super hard pilates, walked for 8 kms and then walked for another 8 kms. The next day I did more pilates and the BOOM my foot spasmed and felt like it was burning from this inside out.   Maybe...  too much exercise?  I put up with more sleepless nights, now, not only from the alien in my head but also the burning foot.  I know there is some kind of proper term but it was like my body and mind were operating at an intense pace. When they shouldn't be. For example, when I was laying in bed trying to sleep, it felt like I had been running. My temperature was up/down. It was so weird. Intuitively I knew it was to do with my central nervous system. I've interviewed enough epic health experts on this topic from our challenges to know this is not a good thing. Judes Yang (we interviewed her here on yoga, connection and meditation) came to my rescue, first with a foot massage and then connecting me with her bro Jonny Yang.  I kind of joke about it (coz that's what I do in shitty situations) but he really did coach me out my breakup depression/grief/anxiety/whatever you call it/craziness (along with my epic family and friends and yes, I FEEL all the FEELS).  What started as a helping foot thing turned into helping me deal with anxiety which happened because of the breakup BUT actually, at the core, it was from a fear of being alone. And Jonny helped me figure this out which helped me to deal with ALL OF IT.  Anyway enough of my rambles.  Here’s the stuff we talk about… What is anxiety? What causes anxiety? Ahhh everything HAHA. How self-awareness, action and creating new habits is key to helping your own anxiety.  Zen and yoga stuff.  Acupuncture, meridians, muscle fascia, energy. Breathing. Ahhh we actually loved this!  The worry jar. Super easy exercise you can do at home. How to support your loved ones when they suffer from anxiety. How we over complicate everything when it comes to anxiety. Small changes, additions, subtractions you can make from and to your life to help your anxiety. Far out we feel bloody lucky to connect and chat with people like Jonny Yang.  We 100% recommend Jonny and the whole team over at Life Synergy. Grateful for all that they do! Check them out HERE. Book in if you live on the Gold Coast! Please share this podcast with anyone you know who suffers from anxiety if you think it might help them and remember if you need help now, there's always someone who will listen, contact Lifeline.  Always Merrymaking, Emma + Carla

  • 101: biz and life and rambles with the Merries. Reflection of 2017 so far

    · #MerryBiz

If you're a keen #GetMerry listener (we love you) you probably already listened to episode 100. It was epic. Can you believe it... 100! Woah, crazy! Also, if you haven't listened you should listen, after or before this biz and life reflection ramble. Take your pick.  The year so far. The good, bad and probably the right word would be sad.  It was really fun doing a podcast just us two. Who really knows what we talked about, but we're pretty sure it's something like the below (probably, maybe?!). We (think we) talk about stuff like… What went awesome during the first half of 2017. What didn't. Our goal to keep everything really real on our social media, how we're well and truly over the fake crap. The new way we're operating our biz, surrendering. Devotion, it's our new thing. Plan to do everything we do with this in mind.  The break up comes up a-bloody-gain, Emma cries some. Other stuff, can't remember!  Send us or tag us in a pic of you listening to #GetMerry. Because FUN!  Always merrymaking, Emma + Carla

  • 100: shame and shadows with Karly Nimmo

    · #MerryBiz

We had this idea for our episode 100. Actually, it wasn't our idea... heaps of other people have done this. We wanted to get someone else to interview us. It would be a huge celebration of goodness to mark this epic 100 number. Did you catch the title? Shame and shadows. Yeh, it's full of goodness but not what we expected and probably not what you expect either (now you have to listen, yeh?). We asked our amazing, beautiful, red headed, potty mouthed friend AKA Karly Nimmo AKA the sexual dancing goddess (this will make sense if you listen and yes Karly, we are officially keeping you accountable) to do the interview. If you know Karly you know she doesn't do stuff inside the box so when we gave creative control we quickly realised anything was possible. And please note. This episode contains swear words.  So Karly rocks up to our house. We catch up (saaah fun), talk about our Merry apartment picnic happening later this same day (best kinda love fest), sit on the couch with our microphones ready and Karly throws in the topic of our conversation... SHADOWS. To be honest this was me in my head (it's Emma FYI)... I don't really even know what the term shadow means, I've heard it so much, I've read about it, but never ever have I thought about my shadows. Woah. WTAF am I gonna to say...  So it turns out I have lots in my shadows. Also turns out it feels bloody good talking about them and bringing them to the light.  Here’s the stuff we talk about… What Carla hides in her shadows, how they were 'good' things and yoga brought them out.  Emma's addiction to external validation. Relationships, break ups, ups and downs. Depression. Expectations. Pilates and yoga duhhhh.  Dancing and being a sexual goddess. Shame! Wow what an interesting topic. Let us know what you think! And also if you do the #ShameShare let us know and tag us @themerrymakersisters!  Also! We think you should also tune into episode 101 (hello Get Merry marathon!), we did a biz/life/everything reflection of the last 6 months. There was laughter and tears. It's real. Check it out right over here.   Always merrymaking, Emma + Carla Also, remember you're not alone. If you need to chat to anyone about anything you’re going through and need extra support you can call Lifeline.

  • 99: magical herbs and chocolate with Kyle Laz

    · #MerryBiz

The Gold Coast is such a cool place. Most of you know we grew up in Canberra (we love Canberra) it's sahhhh different to the Gold Coast. You might think of Gold Coast, and automatically think of Surfers Paradise and partying hard. But there's so much more! And there's this polar opposite thing going on. Like with vibes, attitudes, people etc. It's interesting to observe. Like there's one side where everything seems so materialistic and fake, and then the other side with this realness, connection, yoga, spirit, holistic healthy vibe thing.  Another cool thing about the GC is the abundance of crazy cool events and workshops.  Emma met Kyle Laz aka the Chocolate Wizard aka the magical herb man at his botanical boutique high tea (like fo-realz, how could I not go to that?!).  "Herbal medicine is where you find the balance of ART and SCIENCE. It is the beginning of a path, one of learning and sharing, To alleviate suffering, the fundamental intention. Encircled in MAGIC and MYSTICAL processes." Kyle Laz We're super pumped about this podcast. There's so much magic to listening to someone talk about something they're passionate about... and even better when you know nothing about it. There is so much magic to different perspectives. Love love love.  Here’s the stuff we talk about… How plants and herbs can help you heal yo-self.  Cannabis, how the laws are slowly changing. The health benefits. We included a disclaimer about this, yay our first disclaimer on our podcast hehe. Since we've rarely talked about cannabis and also since lots of you listen with your beautiful kiddies! And we love that! But we get it, this may not be your vibe.  Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate! We also eat it! Oh, and also... apparently it helps you lose weight (we will take that!). How plants, nature, herbs help you connect to yourself, to others, to spirit or your higher self.  Power of intention.  Harry Potter pops up. Happy dance!  Alchemy.  Shamanic ceremonies. Ayahuasca in particular and how too many people are doing it without researching it. Oh, so much more! Go and listen! Ahhhh! And then come and join us for a Merry Chocolate party YAY. Like actually.  Let us know what you think of the episode! We're keen to have Kyle back on the show to go deeper into a particular subject. Watch this space! Merrymaker mantra of the week: I live in a friendly universe.  Ahhhhh we hope you can feel the love vibes.  Links to stuff we talk about… Kyle's Instagram, check it out. Kyle's delish chocolate, Supherb Chocolate. If you loved this podcast you might also like our chat with yoga and meditation teacher, Judes Yang. Always merrymaking, Emma + Carla

  • 98: how to get more confident!

    · #MerryBiz

Are you a confident person? Do you believe in yourself? Do you love yourself, your whole self? Whether the answer is yes, no or sometimes or I dunno?! We know you're going to get some gold from this podcast episode. Right now, we are both the most confident we've ever been and we're keen to keep this going and growing for the rest of our lives. So, let's talk, how to get more confident!  Because one believes in oneself, one doesn’t try to convince others. Because one is content with oneself, one doesn’t need others’ approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts him or her.― Lao Tzu Here’s the stuff we talk about… What is confidence? What does it mean to be a confident person?  We share our personal stories. How Emma went from 'the shy' kid to becoming pretty darn confident in herself (hell yeah). How self-doubt, fear and a negative mind ruled for many years (and how it still comes and goes).  How Carla was pretty much born confident, how school bullies impacted her negatively. How her confidence became a mask to hide the hurt from the bullies.  The 3rd chakra, the solar plexus. What it is and the things we can do energetically and physically to unblock this chakra.  How hanging out with less confident people or more confident people can influence you. But it's your responsibility. What you can do to get more confident. These are real easy and do-able steps.  To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. – Ralph Waldo Emerson Links to stuff we talk about... • 89: Courage, surrender and breaking through upper limits with Bronnie Ware | IRL Interview

    · #MerryBiz

We first met/saw Bronnie Ware when we attended the Hay House Writers' workshop in 2016. We instantly fell in love with her real-ness and humor... oh and her EPIC story (which you'll have to tune into to hear!).  We have no doubt that when you listen to this interview that you'll feel a calmness come over you, because that's what Bronnie does to the world. She makes you feel like everything is ok and that everything is happening just as it should be.  During the interview Bronnie Ware shares words of wisdom that made us go "AHA!" and "holey sh1t... yes!" We loved every minute and we know you will too! This is the stuff we talk about: The top 5 regrets of the dying (not just the regrets but the story of how Bronnie Ware published her best-selling book (titled the same :D))... over 1 million people have read this book and they're making a movie! We hear Chris Hemsworth is up for the love interest! UM OMG YES! Read it! Surrendering to the flow of life. Giving and receiving. Allowing space in your life. The importance of connection. Following your heart and intuition. Trusting that the 'bad times' won't last and that you'll become a better you from them. Bronnie's new book: Bloom (you must get a copy! Yah!). • 88: Why to make the switch to organic skincare with Therese Kerr | IRL in the studio!

    · #MerryBiz

You know we always say we love each and every #GetMerry podcast episode but this one was ah-freaking-mazing. We LOVE LOVE LOVE Therese Kerr. This is why we love our new format of podcasting. YAY for live IRL podcasting.  Chatting to these amazing people, feeling the energy, the passion, the eye contact, the hugging after, etc etc. It wins! It makes podcasting oh so fun and meaningful. We're so grateful for each and every guest. We feel so excited to share them out to you, each and every week (except when we are busy or we forget, ooooopsie!). This is the stuff we talk about: Chemicals in skin care and the health damages they do to us. How Therese Kerr started The Divine Company. We chatted about all the amazing Divine products. This was super interesting as there was a heap of science behind it all. Therese knows a lot!  The importance of family. Conscious shift happening around the world. Especially with young women. How we can detox from chemicals. How to get them out of the system! And more! Merrymaker mantra of the week: As I embrace the riches of nature to cleanse and nurture my body, I restore myself, my divinity and the service I am to all that is. Loved this mantra shared by Therese!

  • 87: Embrace your own authentic connection | Live interview with Amber Hawken and Wellsome Jema-Lee

    · #MerryBiz

This is definitely an explicit interview, swear words = tick! This week we chat to not one but two of our awesome, new Gold Coast friends! We've sparked quite the friendship through LOTS of good food, dancing, laughter and connection (hence the title of this episode!).  They're both EPIC-AS-GOOD humans who have so much knowledge and inspo to share with the world.  During this episode live angel card readings kind of take us on a journey of topics... but it all comes back to self-connection and truly embracing who you are.  It's an hour full of good convo and serious amounts of fun/laughter... we know you're gonna love it!  This is the stuff we talk about: Acceptance... of everything. Self-connection: why it's so important and how to practice more of it. Being honest with yourself and others. Unpacking your baggage and letting go of that sh1t. Yoga and why it's the ultimate practice to get to know yourself. Relationships and how to create meaningful ones.  Merrymaker mantra of the week: Embrace your own authentic connection. Everything we spoke about kept coming back to self-connection and awareness. They're kind of the same thing. Life is a discovery of who we truly are, peeling back all the layers and really getting to know ourselves... even though this can be a really difficult thing to put ourselves through. In being vulnerable, we allow ourselves to FLOURISH and blossom.  Links to Ambz and Jem Jem! Check out Amber's stuff over here (including her #1 book, online program and more!). Check out Jema's stuff over here (she can help you with all your nutrition needs!). Amber's book launch is happening Sunday 23 April on the Gold Coast, RSVP here! Jema's Liver Cleansing event is on Sunday 7 May on the Gold Coast, RSVP HERE! Take a listen to the episode and share with anyone you know who needs to hear more on this topic.

  • 86: Don't train to get a better body. Train to be a better body | Live interview with Nate Hammon

    · #MerryBiz

This week we chat to Nate Hammon, who is an epic Personal Trainer (been doing it for 17 years) as well as the founder of Fitness Training Academy. Carla is currently studying for her Certificate 3 and 4 in fitness with Nate which is a lotta fun (which means we'll be sharing some fun workouts here on the bloggity blog soon!). It's an hour full of good convo we know you're gonna love!  This is the stuff we talk about: Body image from the male perspective (listen to THIS episode if you want our personal stories). Why people fail at their fitness goals and how NOT to do this. Other ways to motivate you to exercise besides always trying to hit PBs.  Comparison and how it sucks. WE talked in more detail about this topic in THIS episode.   Actual beauty, the inside stuff is what really matters.  Merrymaker mantra of the week: Don't train to get a better body. Train to be a better body. We talked a lot about exercise since Nate is a PT and we love love LOVE this mantra! It was so interesting to hear Nate talk about body image issues from a male perspective and also from a trainers perspective.  Like how he would train one person and they would look at someone else in the gym and make a comment like... "Ohhh.... she has lovely legs. I'd love legs like that" Then Nate would go and train lovely leg lady and she would say... "I really need to work my legs more, I hate them!" Take a listen to the episode and share with anyone you know who needs to hear more on this topic.

  • 85: Social media is not socialising | Live interview with Marcus Pearce

    · #MerryBiz

This week we chat to the epic man Marcus Pearce. It was a heap of fun. Marcus is such a lovely dude we have a lot of love for this man!   This is the stuff we talk about: Setting goals and why so many of us fail How to get re-motivated Human connection, self-connection Social media taking over human connection Importance of physical touch How good exercise is The relationship between lack of exercise and dementia (YES, dementia!) AND MORE! Merrymaker mantra of the week: Social media is not socialising. How much time are you spending on social media? Is it replacing in real life (IRL) connection? For us... yes it was. So we love that this topic came up and we love this mantra Marcus shared with us.  Don't get us wrong we LOVE (love love love) social media! It's bloody amazing BUT we started to use it way too much and it does have a way of getting in the way of REAL life human connection.  So if you're feeling a bit off with your relationships... where are you putting your focus? The real life people or the people on your social media? Because where your focus goes energy will flow (as Tony would say!). We go into way more detail on the episode. Listen and let us know what you think! If you love it, be sure to subscribe on your podcast app. Here are the links to iTunes and Stitcher for Androids. If you love the episode we'd be forever grateful if you left us a review and a 5 star review (ok, we'll accept 4 star but really what's an extra star hehe). We're already excited about next week's live interview in da studio! YAY! Always merrymaking, Emma + Carla
