In the wake of COVID, local governments are looking for ways to construct cities to center around individuals rather than cars. 15-Minute Cities are a concept designed by urban planner Carlos Moreno to have cities include all necessary amenities within a 15-minute walk or cycle, so people do not need to rely on cars. This approach aims to reduce car dependency, emissions, meet climate goals and promote healthy and sustainable living and quality of life. However, some right-wing politicians and conspiracy theorists have condemned the idea as an example of authoritarian control, a form of climate lockdown and a "socialist concept" that will impose severe traffic restrictions confining people to their neighbourhoods and curtailing their personal freedoms.
Join our guests Brent Toderian, formerly Vancouver’s former chief planner, Niamh Moore - Cherry, a Professor of Urban Governance and Development, James Woudhuysen, Spiked Columnist and veteran environmental campaigner Arthur Pendragon as they explore the conspiracy theories surrounding 15-Minute Cities. -
Five British MPs have been caught on camera salivating over the chance to make well over $10,000 a day! Led by Donkeys, an anti-Brexit group, set up the sting operation. Although the MPs, including Kwasi Kwarteng, Gavin Williamson, and the already scandal-hit Matt Hancock, did nothing illegal, it raises the question as to whether MPs should have second jobs. Considering this expose occurred during the country's cost of living crisis, for many Brits, the whole thing smells really, really bad.

The contest to replace Nicola Sturgeon as Scotland’s first minister has been a pretty nasty affair - especially for Kate Forbes. Many of her own Scottish Nationalist Party colleagues turned on her as did a good chunk of the press. With just three candidates left in the race, we asked our panel if any of them can unite the party and resurrect the case for independence.

Journalist Isabel Oakeshott leaked 100,000 of the former health secretary, Matt Hancock's WhatsApp messages to The Daily Telegraph, which exposed to the UK public the allegedly scandalous conduct of the government during the pandemic. This week on Nexus, we look at Prince Harry's candid memoir Spare. It has fast become the best-selling non-fiction title in the UK. While the Royal Family has mostly maintained a dignified silence about its salacious revelations, many of the media have not. The Prince, once a favourite of the tabloids and the public alike, now ranks as one of the least popular royals. And that's only going to get worse. Alongside claims many dismiss as whining, Prince Harry revealed he had killed 25 Taliban fighters in Afghanistan. The Taliban say this is an admission of a war crime, while the media say it puts more British lives at risk. Helping us get to the bottom of these revelations is an expert panel including an Afghan government advisor, Meghan Markle's former bodyguard and Philip Ingram, a former British army colonel and two Royal experts.
But amidst the silence of the Royal Family, there has been a lot of outrage in the national press as many criticise his constant complaining as indulgent as millions of ordinary Britons endure an unprecedented cost of living crisis. We speak to Meghan Markle's former bodyguard Steve Davies and ask whether the revelations, for example plans of Buckingham Palace and 25 Taliban killed will endanger Prince Harry, Meghan and the rest of the Royal Family. -
This week on Nexus, we're in Romania for a special investigation. Matthew Moore is on the trail of social media influencer Andrew Tate, who's been arrested and detained on human trafficking charges. While others we speak to including a human trafficking expert say they are convinced of his guilt. Whatever the truth, Nexus is on the ground to discover it in this special episode.
