In this episode I have the privilege of chatting with Joe Lekkas and Ben Douglas, the two main drivers behind the band Palm Ghosts. I chatted with the fellas about their beginnings, inspirations and writing process as well as digging into some of the songs off of their latest album, I Love You, Burn in Hell. The duo, along with drummer, WaltEpting, craft melodic yet brooding rhythms and melodies that sway you back and forth between the New Wave/alternative sounds of the 80âs and the modernalternative post-punk revival sounds of the 21st century. Joe & Ben are a couple of really down to earth guys and I really enjoyed our conversation. The band manages to remind the listener of a myriad of 80âs & 90âs new wave/post-punk/alternative/shoe gaze bands while creating a new unidentifiable genre that seems to belong only to them. If you love Joy Division, New Order, The Cure, Peter Gabriel, XTC, Echo & The Bunnymen, MissionUK, The Psychedelic Furs, The Doves, Bloc Party, Simples Minds (Yeah⊠the list goes on and on!) then you will be as enamored with Palm Ghosts as I am. This year (2024), the band will be releasing a series of songs, one at a time, every 2 weeks, which will end up populating 4 EPs andultimately a double LP by the end of the year so be sure to check them out on the streaming platform of your choice. In this episode I chat with Patrick Av who creates post-punk dramatic alterna goth under the project name Pazz Kluger.
Pat is drawn to the drama of relationships in new wave and post-punk songs and seeks to write and sing about the darker, tortured side that we’ve all felt at times in our life. Even with the darkness, one can feel an underlying longing for peace and wholeness in each of these songs. We had a great conversation
about his musical beginnings, his post-punk influences, and discussed some of the songs from his substantial catalogue. In this episode, I do a follow-up to Episode005 - What is Post-punk and welcome to the Post-punk Heartstrings State of Mindâ In that episode, I gave my own personal definition of post-punk and offered my pick for the first post-punk album released. In this episode, Jamie Harmon returns to the podcast and we discuss The Policeâs new wave/post-punk/Jazz master work Synchronicity. The influence of The Police on later post-punk bands is often overlooked and Synchronicity displays the band at their most eclectic and chaotic. In spite of the infighting, the band was able to put together the #1 album in the country and create the most ever played rock song: "Every Breath You Take."

In this episode, Mark & I discuss Cruel Inventions, her beautifully moody and tense 1991 album that explores exploitation, consumerism, capitalism and the dark side of love while struggling to understand just how we all fit into this crazy messed up world.
