    Linda has spent more than 30 years working for local and national not-for-profit organizations. She has raised tens of millions of dollars for social service, health care and education initiatives. She currently works as associate vice president of Development and Alumni Affairs at Durham College and Executive Director of The Durham College Foundation. She teaches Event Planning and Fund Development in the Public Relations Program.

    Prior to joining DC, Linda was the Director of Advancement for the Lakeridge Health Foundation and has also worked as the Director of Fund Development and Communications roles for Scientists in School, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and The Children’s Wish Foundation (now Make A Wish).

    No stranger to voluntarism and community outreach, she has served as Chair of the Board for The Youth Centre (now known as Carea) in Ajax and the Durham Family Court Clinic in Oshawa. She has also been a member of the Board of Directors for the Ajax Pickering Board of Trade and volunteers her time coaching and mentoring grassroots organizations in Durham Region.

    Urmi Hossain is Bengali by blood and Italian by birth. She works in the financial services industry in Canada, where she is currently residing. Her first book, Discovering Your Identity: A Rebirth from Interracial Struggle, tells the story of a brown girl who grew up in Italy with Bengali parents who wanted her to be the perfect and obedient Bengali girl. Through reflections and confessions, she shares her experiences growing up as a third-culture kid and the struggles many South Asian girls face.

    She is an advocate of women's empowerment and very passionate about teaching and mentoring other girls and women.     On today's extra-long episode, Matisse is chatting with Barry Waite, the executive dean for the Faculty of Media, Art and Design at Durham College, about his illustrious career and PR education trends.

    Barry is an educator, communications professional, and committed volunteer with over 30 years of experience with various organizations. Before joining Durham, Barry was Academic Chair, Communications & Media, for Toronto's Centennial College faculty.

    He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the AIDS Committee of Toronto and OCASA, the Ontario College Administrators' Staff Association. His previous volunteer experience includes being the Chair of the Communications Work Group for the 2017 Toronto Invictus Games, leading more than 30 volunteers in the communications and public relations area, nine years on the board of the Pride and Remembrance Association, including four years as president where he helped double sponsorship and funds raised for the annual Pride & Remembrance Run. He served several years on the Development Committee for Fife House and two years on the board of Community One Foundation.

    Barry holds a Master's in Public Relations from Mount St. Vincent University. In 2015, he received the Lois Marsh Award from the Toronto Chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society for his contribution to the public relations industry in Toronto.
