Greetings and welcome to the 17th episode of Rally in the Valley, a podcast that is one of the things that comes up when you search âRally in the Valleyâ in your search engine of choice. I hope itâs WebCrawler! Tom and Michael make a return! It is shoddy work at best. Big news on the Rally in the Valley home front though. Youâll have to listen to find that one out!
Tom and Michael stumble through some emails, then the rest of the episode keeps that awkward cadence up. Pax Romana, does it make these boys wanna wanna play? And Michael soloâs Unhappy King Charles! ? What is the world coming to. ASL rule of the week returns while Michael offers no excuses in his lack of Liquid Courage. An eBay Quiz occurs in a most unusual fashion. Was it worth the wait for all this âqualityâ? You tell us dear listener! And will they ever pick up any of the many games theyâve hinted will be covered in previous episodes? -
Itâs something you may or may not have been clamoring for, the most 16-est to this point episode of Rally in the Valley has arrived! Itâs a podcast, about games, about war. Tom and Michael bring their A game in a stunning turn of events after their absence. Email talk leads to some hardcore, hot and heavy game talk. The Lamps are Going Out (Compass Games) has ignited a passion in Michael that leads him to boringly discuss the gameâs mechanics in detail for twenty odd minutes. Desert Heat (Lock n Load Publishing) is more lukewarm in Tomâs early previews, while Michaelâs Enemy Coast Ahead: The Doolittle Raid experiences leave Tom a bit hot under the collar that he gifted it to his cohost. ASL Rule of the Week has Michael do his best to âsound Germanâ, while the boys say âsparkling wineâ far too much during a Liquid Courage segment. Tomâs Ebay Quiz is bonkers as always, and weirdly ties into Michaelâs new job?! The lads [...]

Hello and welcome to the 15th episode of Rally in the Valley, ever (for the second time)! It is a podcast about war games, board games, tabletop RPGs, cocktails, and âjokesâ. Tom and Michael manage to start the episode without much difficulty after a bout of the PIZZACAST and launch into some emails. Then, Tom gives a bevy of thoughts on Bataan from Compass Games. Michael is impressed on how cheap it was! The boys try to be clever about their next game, but it is Spirit Island. A game that they try to spin as a counterinsurgency. Let us know if that convinces you! Next, a preview of whatâs coming. Austerlitz 1805: Rising Eagles, Band of Brothers: Screaming Eagles, Enemy Coast Ahead: The Doolittle Raid, Fire in the Lake, and others all in the pipeline! ASL Rule of the Week is given the due it deserves from Tom, while Michael comes out swinging in a proper Liquid Courage. An Ebay Quiz rounds it out again. How long do you think Michael will put up with this nonsense [...]

Regardless of your feelings on the idea, welcome to the newest episode of Rally in the Valley war-game time! Tom and Michael start off with a few emails, managing to keep that section to a reasonable length. Then, they tackle their mystery first official review! Was it worth it? Probably not. Next Tom gives us his thoughts on Unconditional Surrender while Michael does his best to help focus those thoughts. Then the boys ramble at some length about Blind Swords and Eutaw Springs. Grasping at straws anyone? Tom covers some ASL in his Rule of the Week, while Michael says an unceremonious goodbye to ASL. Then, Liquid Courage is about Scotch. Making amends or more enemies among the Scotch drinkers, youâll have to see! Finally, an Ebay Quiz brings us gently home for once.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Tired of top ten lists yet? Too bad. The boys do a best of 2017 list (mostly) about wargames. Things were rated, there were twists, there were turns, Tom had to pick his favorite non-wargame of 2017. Did he play any? Youâll have to listen to find out.
***Warning: This episode contains evidence of Bruce Gerykâs voodoo magic. Not for the faint of heart.***

Hello and welcome to the triumphant return of Rally in the Valley, a podcast (once more!) about wargames, board games, and tabletop RPGs! Tom and Michael promise to probably miss episodes again. After quite a bit of nonsense and reading emails, they finally give their thoughts on Pericles. Itâs a hard game to describe, is it hard to play? Then, they discuss the newest C3i issue number 31 and its companion game Men of Iron Battle of Wakefield. And by âtheyâ we mean Michael. Then, Blades in the Dark an RPG about stealing things and living in a world of ghosts, no sun, and industrial magical revolution. It is basically a contemporary piece. ASL Rule of Week is wintery fun and Michael walks a fine line in his Liquid Courage. Another âthemedâ Ebay Quiz takes us into home plate in a very long episode. You asked for, we delivered more content. A lot more. Good content? Uhhhhh.< [...]

Hello and welcome to the FIRST EVER Rally in the Valley Interview Special! Also, the biggest downgrade in audio quality this podcast may ever see (Tom and Michael are working on it for next timeâŠ). In this episode, Tom and Michael talk briefly with Harold Buchanan, designer of Liberty or Death. They begin by discussing his background in gaming, what lead him to design a COIN game, and design choices in Liberty or Death. Then, the juicy bits! Harold talks at length about his upcoming South China Sea and Saratoga endeavors (different titles, not one mega cross-centuries extravaganza). After that, the strange bits! In which our guest graciously answers Michaelâs attempt to emulate the great James Lipton.
Apologies again on any audio issues. Thank quick thinking on Michael and Tomâs part (also Michaelâs laptop and Tomâs phone), Tomâs editing skills, and mostly Haroldâs infinite patience. Check o [...] -
Welcome to the late and latest episode of Rally in the Valley, a podcast about wargames and board games and RPGs and games you play at home! Tom and Michael touch on some emails, then discuss Tomâs completion of an ASL Festung Budapest campaign game. Michael also has maybe made up his mind on ASL, finally?! Next, they give some initial thoughts on Table Battles and Ukraine Crisis from Hollandspiele. And we learn that maybe Tom can finally really like a Hollandspiele game. They round the game discussion with some hot-hot strawberry coated RPG action in the form of the Paranoia RPG. Will Michael ever get back to being to properly explain a game? Donât hold your breath! ASL Rule of the Week and Liquid Courage make appearances for better or worse, as does the eBay Quiz. Will they jazz up these segments with musical intros already!?

The 11th ever Rally in the Valley is here! Shame Tom and Michael werenât though. A podcast about wargames, board games, and tabletop RPGs and⊠pizza?! You decide! Michael shares his time at NEWGame 2017 and bringing new people into the hobby. Then some emails, with thankfully little about pronunciation. Tom brings us back to hardcore gaming with GMTâs MBT. Is it A-OK, TBH? Find out! Then both of our hosts discuss Battles on the Ice and Michael rants (positively) about Hollandspiele. ASL rule of the week is about the coolest way to ride and Liquid Courage is designed to keep you warm. An Ebay quiz that is even more outside of Michaelâs normal comfort zone seems to round us out, till things REALLY go off the rails. We all knew the full extent of these two dangerously insane human beings was gonna be exposed sooner or later. Ten episodes seems like a good run!

Prepare for the tenth EVER episode of Rally in the Valley, a podcast almost 100% about wargames this time. Tom and Michael are back from another week off, what a bunch of lazy curs! Getting back on track, they start with some emails. Mostly about pronunciation, of course. Next, they discuss Musket and Pike: Nothing Gained but Glory and decide they havenât decided on the game yet. Next, Tom finally gives us his thoughts on Clash of Monarchs. What a wait, heâd better have a lot to say! Also, Michael discusses the solo Agricola: Master of Britain. Is it about farming? Maybe! ASL Rule of the Week is as crazy as ever, and Michael is very pleased on his cocktail recommendations in Liquid Courage. And they finish it all off with a rapid fire Richard Berg Ebay Quiz and imagined past events from Tom. Be sure to check out Tom and Michaelâs interview on the 13th episode of Wild Weasel with Bruce Geryk! Iâm sure youâll agree they were the weakest part of the episo [...]

Welcome to the very ninth episode of Rally in the Valley, a podcast about games mostly! Tom and Michael race (though not too hard) against the clock to finish before Tom goes to play muzak. Michael recounts his bumbling efforts to enact/stop Operation Dynamo in GMTâs France â40, while Tom starts the first campaign game of ASL Festung Budapest in earnest. Michael rambles about RPGs for seemingly no reason, then Tom does a strange take on his ASL Rule of the Week. A simple but delicious Liquid Courage cocktail prepares us for a less simple but still delicious Ebay Quiz. Hopefully Canada still loves us, cause we still love them!

Welcome to episode 8 of Rally in the Valley! Michael and Tom spend far too long on listener mail, and then finally talk about games. Invasion 1066, both Battle of Hastings and Stamford Bridge impress, while Tom finally waxes about Dien Bien Phu: The Final Gamble. We finish off with some RPG action via Dungeon Crawl Classics. In our regular segments, Tom threatens to blow himself up in his ASL Rule reading. Michael goes off in odd directions and maybe upsets a country full of people (or giant demons?) in Liquid Courage. And a quick eBay quiz calms things back down.

Welcome to the third ever Rally in the Valley Special episode! Michael and Tom talk about beginner wargames.
