She also reveals that Resolutionists, a group of mages dedicated to freedom from the Chantry through violent means. Because of their influence, Lelianna reveals that the Divine in Orlais may take serious action. Bartrand's old hightown estate is giving the new owners a hard time, what with the disembodied voices and furniture levitating. Varric recruits his favorite problem solver to search the house for any relics Bartrand may have left behind that would explain the haunting. After a thoroughly spooky investigation, Varric becomes more agitated to the point where he becomes aggressive with a maid just trying to escape. An ethereal golem takes her life and nearly takes ours, revealing the small piece of the idol that once drove Bartrand mad. Varric is convinced it would help Bartrand. Oh hey, we were supposed to do something for the Viscount. Good thing that guy is still at the hanged man getting drunk and bragging about being an absolute shithead. Hawke gets some information out of the guy, a templar with the grand cleric's seal abducted the qunari and paid our drunkard to turn his head. We don't get the opportunity to speak with Grand Cleric Elthina, though, because Mother Petrice intercepts us to say that the grand cleric would never sanction such a thing but surely it's fine because she trusts her subordinates to do the right thing. If we press Petrice, then she will sacrifice her trusted bodyguard Ser Varnell and label him a fanatic. She gives us his location and arrives on our heels to disavow Varnell's actions and set Hawke up as the coming retribution. One dead templar later, the Viscount has a huge headache to deal with.
