Los cuerpos presentan un espantoso estado de descomposición de al menos seis semanas, hinchados y sumergidos en una sustancia espesa de fauna cadavérica. El caso se presenta complejo desde un inicio, pero el misterio aumenta cuando la primera testigo asegura haber visto a las fallecidas con vida apenas dos días antes del hallazgo.

On June 23, 2019, San Pedro, Belize, police were called to a crime scene on the waters of Ambergris Caye.
After a short search, they found the body of fly-fishing guide Mario Graniel slumped behind the wheel of his flats skiff. Not far from the boat was his client, Dr. Gary Swank, floating face down in the warm Caribbean water.
