Diego Ruiz (born 1980, Colombia) a.k.a DFRA is a DJ and music producer based in Buenos Aires Argentina. During the years 2015-2021 he studied Music and Composition at the UCA (Universidad Católica Argentina), with a focus on classical and modern compositional genres and from an early age he acquired a taste for Hip Hop of the 80’s and 90’s, gospel music, Soul, R&B and Disco. He currently fuses Jazz, Soul, Neo Soul and Funk with House music and is characterized by a strong influence of House and Detroit sounds of the 1990s and 2000s. In his productions two facets are reflected, on the one hand the musicality of Jazz and Soul, fused with electronic elements and on the other hand some sounds more focused on the characteristic chords of Detroit and Chicago, more aggressive bass lines and 100% electronic percussion. During his career he has had the possibility of playing in several cities in Colombia, Argentina, Germany, France and Spain. He has released music on labels such as Groovin (IT), Hudd Traxx (UK), Mate (ES) among others.
Today he is the owner of Silver Walker, a label whose music is inspired by all his musical roots and where he embodies the beautiful fusion of Jazz with electronic music. The project he is currently developing is DFRA Experience Jazz Band, where he works with Jazz musicians from the Argentine scene.
He has a new release on Berlin-based label Ascension on Wax, and continues its deep, jazz-inflected trajectory with A Quiet Storm EP, arriving June on 12” vinyl and digital formats (Cat No: AOW005). Available to buy and pre-order from May 15, the EP showcases DFRA’s refined blend of soul, jazz, and classic house sensibilities, enriched further by a remix from Detroit’s Jon Dixon.

We've got a bit of a musical legend in the house today for the guestmix!
Here's some words from the man himself
Lately I’ve been getting back into playing a lot more vinyl-only sets after spending the last few years deep in film scoring and studio work. I will be getting back out playing more shows this year, so this mix felt like a good snapshot of where my head is at musically right now.
I’ve also been putting a lot of energy into my label PRONTO, which has become a home for music from artists and friends like Marcellus Pittman, Osunlade, Rick Wade, Art Of Tones, Oliver Dollar and Make A Dance. I’m currently working on a new project with Osunlade called Nomadics that I’m really excited about.
Outside the club world, I’ve had music in the new Jackass film and the latest Farrelly Brothers movie, plus I recently finished scoring a new feature starring Ron Perlman and Theo Rossi. Before all of that I spent years making music for Grand Theft Auto which was honestly one of the wildest chapters of my career.
This mix is just a bunch of records I love, Chicago roots, deep house, disco, weird late-night stuff and a few curveballs. I also recently got to remix Joe Smooth’s “Promised Land” for DJ International, which was a pretty surreal full-circle moment for a kid originally from Chicago.
Hope you enjoy it.
James

The Manchester raised Berlin based Detroit house head steps up to take the reigns this week for us! It's a sublime mix that showcases his penchant for water, jazz + Detroit. Formally known as Black Eyes he has a new EP out on 'Ascension of Wax' featuring a remix by Nico Lahs which is well worth checking out.
He likes to build deep house vibes with weight. He calls it Hydro-Trip — raw, soulful and slightly tripped-out. It’s patient music. Built for rooms that understand space and time. No theatrics. No rush. Just deep records, properly played. Through his imprint Lost Control 2097 and a seven-year residency with NTS Radio, he refined a sound that stays deep without drifting. More recently, sessions on Balamii Radio extended that reach, keeping things consistent and uncompromising.

Hold tight for a belter of a mix from Paperkraft - the latest crew member to be join Sally C's Big Saldo's Chunkers label. We're loving the vibes on the Somethin' Nasty EP so go check that after this mix! https://ffm.to/bsc008a
"I felt that this mix needed to capture my whole style.
It’s centered around my roots in house music, but also includes music from the 90~00s that deeply influenced me, some of my current favorites, my latest Chunker release and unreleased tracks — from funky and techy to more proggy vibes.
People might have different impressions of my DJ style, and that’s probably because I imagine so many different settings — from small bars to big venues, in Japan and abroad. It’s impossible to express everything within just one hour, but I think this mix turned out to be something special. I hope you can let the music take over and enjoy it with me. Thanks!" - @pprkrft -
Its been a while but Pat's back with another selection of newish/oldish bits from his trusted SlothBoogie Bangers USB. Hit up the comments for ID requests or head over to the website for the tracklist in full.

‘It's been a few years since I've recorded something but was recently inspired by the hot summer we’ve had here in the UK to put something mellow, bright and beautiful together which I wanted to make into a bit of a journey. Expect hazy jazz, stoner soul, balearic bites, tear jerkin 45’s & international rhythms. Recorded on 100% vinyl from my listening collection for extra warmth!’
Jonna has been playing music with soul for the past 20 years, from the City Fly basement parties @ Sophbeck (RIP) in his hometown of Leicester, to the festival circuit in Croatia to the dark underground clubs of Berlin and as far as Tokyo. He has also supported the likes of Roy Ayres (RIP), Children of Zeus, Benji B, Underground Resistance & MCDE to name a few!
Jonna has released notable music on Lumberjacks in Hell, BBE, Shadeleaf Music, Flat White Records and his own imprint City Fly Records which has gained support from the likes of BBC 6 Music, Mr Scruff, Jimpster and Derek Carter to name afew. His last release 'Jus Move' featuring Javonntte with Marcellus Pittman & SoulPhiction (RIP) Remixes was featured in Juno Records Top 10 'Best Deep House Records’ of the year and was ‘Release Of The Day’ on Resident Advisor.
Recently, Jonna has been concentrating on his music promo service ‘Unveil PR’ and starting a family but is still an avid record collector and selector spanning many genres of the musical spectrum.
