Steph De Sousa—AKA The Frugal Foodie or steph_cooks_stuff on Instagram—is a passionate cook, author, mother of 4, and Instagram sensation.
While living with her young family on the French-speaking island of Vanuatu for a short time, Steph worked as a hairdresser and makeup artist for weddings. It was here that the island taught her about buying and using fresh ingredients from local markets, eating organic, and where she developed her love of scratch cooking.
She made her way to becoming a contestant on MasterChef, and Australia fell in love with her gorgeous personality and ability to simplify meals. Across Steph’s content, website and books, she shows us how to create simple, delicious, family-friendly meals without a lavish budget. Steph has two amazing books available—Air Fryer Queen and her new book, Easy Dinner Queen, which will have you in your own kitchens not believing how easy she makes creating food.
Steph is like a warm hug, and you will probably get hungry during this episode...so grab snacks!

When I first heard Dr Hayley Watson speak at an event, I had no idea that we would
later partner up to help thousands of kids in Australia with their mental health.Through the work of her in-school mental health program, Open Parachute, and the support of The Sebastian Foundation, we have been able to touch the lives of
thousands of kids throughout Australia. In this very special episode of Tea With Jules, I sit down with Dr Hayley to hear her own story with overcoming big life challenges and why that fuelled her passion to help others. She shares her entry into studying Clinical Psychology and her PhD in school bullying interventions. We cover off the work we are doing together, and she offers up some invaluable advice on helping ourselves and others through various stages of mental health.
There are some serious pearls of wisdom and take away moments through this whole chat. I came for the tea, but left with some pretty life altering perspective. I hope you enjoy the episode with Dr Hayley Watson.

(Sept. 29, 2019) Tash Sefton is a fashion and online business force. Her website Where Did Your Style Go teaches us how love clothes and how to love ourselves in them.
When she joined me on Tea with Jules, I was not expecting the conversation to take the course it did – but I couldn’t have been more happy with where we went. We got down to the real deal and talked about topics that affect us all. Social media is something I have been thinking a lot about lately and have been trying to navigate my way through feelings of overwhelm and insecurity, so I was happy when Tash opened up to share her thoughts around living her life online, and how she found her true calling after hitting rock bottom.
We talk about ageing in a ‘forever young’ industry and how Tash views this as a positive and uses it to learn and know more. Tash is at a fearless place in her life, and it shows. She is unstoppable. This is a powerful conversation and I think is an important one for all of us to hear.
Now go grab your cuppa and listen in.

(Oct. 19, 2019) Continuing along with our brave series on Tea with Jules, I could not go past the story of my next guest. As we sat and shared our tea, I was more and more taken with her tale of courage, determination and passion. Rabia Siddique begins her story in suburban Perth growing up as a Muslim. Her life changed forever when she became the victim of abuse and decided at a very early that she wanted to dedicate herself to helping others access justice in a way that she wasn’t able to as a little girl.
She committed herself to helping others find their voice. The law was her vehicle. After joining the British Army as a military lawyer, she served in Iraq and was sent to negotiate the release of two kidnapped British soldiers. I’ll let Rabia finish sharing what unfolded while in negotiations. It’s an edge of your seat kind of moment.
Rabia believes her higher purpose and calling is to serve people who live in parts of the world where they can’t access justice and equality is a foreign concept. What a purpose! She lives this calling out with a conviction that is rare and important for humanity.
I decided to split this episode into two parts as Rabia’s story is detailed and beautiful and I didn’t want you to miss a thing. The next episode will follow soon.
This is the epic journey of a brave woman, soldier, Muslim and mother.
To really grasp the intensity of Rabia’s life, you really have to sit and absorb this conversation. So please, make your cuppa really hot, and enjoy PART 1.

(14 Feb 2019) Who are you when you are sitting in your true self?
I first discovered Alison Rice through her podcast Offline. I was instantly hooked, then obsessed, then I stalked her down and demanded she had tea with me!
What I love about Alison, is her raw approach to self-discovery. Resigning from her high powered job in the digital space, she has taken some time to delve deeper into (her words!) exploring the often confronting concept of true self. Along for her ride are her wonderful guest who are women behind our favourite Instagram accounts. The conversations they share are real, honest, heartfelt and oh so inspiring.
We can get so caught up in the highlight reel of social media and the labels that go along with success and achievement, that it becomes easy to forget the person behind the position.
Alison and I discuss the importance of using kindness and generosity in everyday life to push others forward and what that really means.
Alison is calming, insightful, smart and a deep soul. I loved our chat, I hope you do too. If you haven't already listened to Offline, do yourself a favour.
Now, go grab your tea and enjoy the chat.

(Dec. 11, 2019) Angela Ceberano has been my friend for over a decade. We first met when my husband Guy signed to the music label BMG (later becoming Sony Music) after winning the very first Australian Idol! Ange was his assigned publicist at the label.
The first thing I noticed about Ange was her Hollywood actress looks and her kind nature. I was very new to the world of the public eye, so anybody who showed me genuine kindness and was down to earth, I clung to! We grew closer over the years and it has been a pleasure to watch Ange blossom into the business mogul she is today.
With all her music industry and PR knowledge, she decided to start her own agency. She named it Flourish. She and her team handle huge clients on all things publicity and branding. She has also recently released her very own range of candles called Marco and Co. which she lovingly named after her beautiful horse Marco.
As a busy entrepreneur and working woman, Ange has had her fair share of challenges. Earlier this year, her husband Phil and her went through a heart renching miscarriage. She was brave enough to share her thoughts and feelings around that in our chat. Running your own business, juggling staff, a marriage and all that goes in between has lead Ange to take some time to reflect, pause and really take head of what is important in life. Her mission is to inspire but to also encourage people to find a lifestyle that is right for them. This includes rest and doing things you love. She believes it feeds your soul and fuels your passions. I couldn’t agree more.

(Feb. 2, 2020) ‘There’s no shame in asking for a hand. Accepting that you need help and asking for it is the brave part. Giving someone a hand is just as brave.’ Ben Higgs
Welcome back to Tea with Jules 2020. We continue on with the brave series, learning that bravery comes in all kinds of forms. Ben Higgs is the founder of The Rise Foundation. A foundation that exists to educate and teach the everyday practical tools we can use so people no longer have to suffer with mental illness or poor mental health.
I have seen close up how serious mental health can be, so I do not treat this subject lightly. Neither does Ben. He sees his role to be an educational light to those suffering and those living with people suffering. Even though he has experienced his own battles, he does not think he is the poster child for mental health, nor does he want to be. He simply sees there are hurting people who need help to get through their days and has put up his hand to do what he can.
With mental health becoming a subject we are increasing facing head on and many men and women are embracing their struggles openly and publicly, we are normalising issues that were once seen as a weakness. That is the point of this chat. To hit this head on. To gather as communities and rally together to see change. I hope you will get some practical, helpful tools from Ben to be on the look out for cracks in the perfect persona people put together and start asking the simple questions of Are you ok? And how can I help?
Here is a link to Ben’s foundation and other helpful facilities in the show notes if you need to reach out. There is always someone there, no matter how you feel.

(15 Nov 2018) Liv Phyland & Teigan Nash are little rays of sunshine! They quite literally light up every room they walk into.
Both from a background in TV presenting they were moved by the stories of young people's struggles with low self-esteem, social media battles, and unhealthy lifestyles. They wanted to see a change in the next generation and decided to do something about it. They started workshops that travel all over the country called Girls Who Glow. The movement has been life-changing for teenager girls who get to meet Liv & Teigs amongst other inspiring speakers who give them advice and guidance on health and wellbeing, social media, goal setting, fitness, and choosing healthy relationships.
They are 2 friends on a mission and they share the same dream. To see people live their best lives and to be happy.
You will absolutely love this interview. We chat about the effects of social media and the changes they are seeing in the world, one girl at a time.

(Feb. 11, 2021) CALLING ALL PARENTS! This is a special Tea with Jules episode just for you. Trust me – get your pen and paper out and takes some notes on this one.
Maggie Dent joins me for an insightful and in-depth conversation on (one of the toughest jobs of all) parenting. She is known as Australia’s favourite parenting authors and educators and it is easy to see why. Her warmth, calm nature and wisdom had me hanging off her every word.
Maggie has written 11 books on all things parenting and hosts the ABC podcast ‘Parental as Anything’. Her website is an incredible resource helping us all to navigate the many challenges we face as parents. A mum of FOUR boys, and an engaged grandmum, Maggie’s life experience covers teaching, counselling, working in palliative care, funeral services and suicide prevention. From this Maggie has come to advocate for the healthy, common-sense raising of children in order to strengthen families and communities.
I reached to my community for their burning questions for Maggie and I tried my best to cover off as much as I could in our chat. We cover a lot of ground. From toddler tantrums, parental pauses, co-parenting as a team, her roosters and lamb theory, screen time and teaching our kids to be safe digital citizens, singing silly songs, structure, predictability and boundary’s, helping our teenagers find their spark, modelling behaviour for our kids and probably the highlight…..why Maggie is sending me into fart training!
The bottom line of this conversation is, the best thing we can ever do for our kids is to love them fiercely and unconditionally. Oh – and Maggie’s parting words to all parents everywhere – YOU’VE GOT THIS.
Please, if you are a parent or know a parent who might need some sound, sensible advice in raising their kids (that’s all of us right?!), watch this interview. Then watch it again.

(Feb. 10, 2021) What an exciting day this is! Due to many reasons (COVID lockdowns, the world turning upside-down, writing a book, raising 2 boys and well…life!) it has been over a year since I shared a Tea with Jules episode with you all. Late last year I felt the time was right to boil the kettle again and invite people into my home to have honest, heartfelt conversations about life, love and career.
My first guest is my dear friend Sam Moran. He has been a children’s entertainer for 22 years, bringing joy and fun to our homes via his show ‘Play Along with Sam’ and his time as the yellow Wiggle.
What I love about this chat with Sam is his openness about all the stages and phases of his life so far. He talks about the power of letting things go, how smart kids really are and the level of sincerity they need from their entertainers. Sam also, opens up about his relationship with depression over the years and how important it is to deal with the ‘meh’ feeling that can creep in slowly.
I can’t tell you how much I learn about people and about myself through these conversations. It’s not just sharing tea, it’s a ceremony of exchange – human to human. I love that we are back in the Tea with Jules saddle and that we get to experience this together.

(April 24, 2021) ‘I don’t know what’s on the other side of this, but I trust that I can pick up the pieces’
My next guest on Tea with Jules is surfing legend and my friend from the south coast, Sally Fitzgibbons.
I remark this in the interview what strikes me the most about this wonderful woman, and it’s her true depth. Sally is an athlete by trade but a seeker by heart. She is in constant learning from the world around her and any conversation with her leaves you feeling uplifted and inspired.
Her relationship with the ocean is spiritual and you can see the profound impact it has on her life both when she is surfing it’s waves or watching on as she reads and anticipates what mother nature will do next. It’s her meditation, her connection and her power.
We speak about fear, permission to pause, our addiction to forward momentum and the brilliance in the ordinary. We really go there and I can honestly say, this has been one of my most favourite chats to date.
I can’t wait for you to tune in and see what this sun kissed, smiling slice of sunshine has to offer us. I promise you will finish wanting to either take your shoes off and find some sand, or exchange some, as Sal calls it ‘intentional energy’ with someone you love.
Go grab a cuppa and enjoy Sally Fitzgibbons on Tea with Jules. xx

(June 21, 2021) Steve Cordony is a master of interior style and life styling. What a treat to have him for my latest episode of Tea with Jules.
I first met Steve when he waved his magic style wand over our house for a shoot we did with Belle Magazine Australia where he sits as Style Director at Large. He struck me as kind, generous with information and meticulous with his impeccable taste, and he has absolutely lived up to that first impression.
With so many of us spending so much time at home right now, it is lovely to hear Steve talk about how he gives his home a soul. Steve shares with me how growing up he always felt that coming out, might be a risk or an unachievable dream to have his own perfect image of home life. Remaining neutral, was safer. He believes that everything happens for a reason at the right time, and with a moment of complete honesty with himself and those around him, he was released into his truest identity. Once he stepped into that, the sky has been the limit.
We talk about the secret sauce of a successful relationship, what is the soul, finding purpose and of COURSE I wouldn’t let him get away without asking him some very important home styling questions!
I loved this chat and Steve’s wonderful insight into life, love and career. He is a true gem-I hope you enjoy too. Oh, and please check out his and Michael’s current dream home renovation Rosedale Farm. It is serious #housegoals

(Nov. 22, 2019) I first heard Leane Flynn speak at 2 events I attended earlier this year. Her story sparked inside of me an urgency to get her message out as far and wide as I could, so I invited her for tea. I'm grateful she came to willingly deliver what I think is vital information to women everywhere.
Leane was suddenly diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in April 2017. There were no obvious signs, no pain or convincing warnings that a large tumour was growing on each ovary and another tumour was growing between Leane’s diaphragm and liver. She had put her consistent bloating and frequent need to urinate down to menopause. After the appropriate surgery, she was diagnosed with Stage 3C advanced ovarian cancer.
As a wife and mother of 3 daughters, her life was understandably turned upside down. She went through all of the emotions and the doctors recommendations for treatments, but the cancer has been relentless and has returned since her initial diagnosis and treatments. She continues to fight the good fight and encourage women to be aware of the signs their bodies may be giving them.
To really grasp the understanding of some facts about ovarian cancer, I turned to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation website (www.ocrf.com.au) and included some of their helpful information around the disease.
‘Raising awareness won’t save lives. In order to save the lives of Australian women, we need to first fund the innovative research that will find an early detection test, and then focus on widespread adoption.Currently, only 20–25% of women diagnosed with advanced-stage ovarian cancer will survive beyond five years. But with an early detection test, that would skyrocket to over 90%.
Every year, an estimated 1,600 Australian women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
The vast majority of these are at an advanced stage, as there is currently no early detection test, and symptoms are frequently misdiagnosed or not reported. The only way to definitively diagnose ovarian cancer is by taking a tissue sample during surgery.
In Australia, one women dies every eight hours from ovarian cancer.
Although tests and scans can show abnormalities, they cannot provide a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. The only way to currently confirm a diagnosis is by taking a biopsy during surgery and looking at the cells under a microscope.
Ovarian cancer is the eighth most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian females, but the most lethal gynaecological cancer.
Over 50% of the community incorrectly believes a Pap smear will diagnose ovarian cancer.’
The best way we can help as a community and individuals is to help fund research that will find an early detection test. As we have learned, raising awareness won’t save lives.
Leane has put up her hand to be the voice of this horrific disease. Her mission, alongside www.ocrf.com.au is to see funds raised and for ovarian cancer to have early detection available for women.
I hope you are as moved as I was by this chat with Leane – she was so generous in sharing her emotional journey, and I am forever grateful to her for this.

(June 21, 2019) Eleanor Pendleton is intimidatingly beautiful, insanely cool and just to top it off, she’s really, really, lovely. She is the brainchild behind the beauty site and online magazine grittypretty.com and has build a cult following amongst beauty lovers. The site is dedicated to all things make up, skin care and hair. It’s a stunning site – make sure you check it out.
Elle and I have has similar upbringings in terms of being raised in smaller towns by stay at home mum’s and stable families, but as we know, not everything is always smooth sailing in life. That’s what makes it beautiful. Elle shares her story on her rise to the top and the sacrifices she has had to make along the way to get there.
What I love about Eleanor is that she is raw and honest and doesn’t hide behind anything shiny (except for maybe her immaculate skin!)– she is so real about what life looks like. It’s imperfect, it’s messy and she is very aware that everybody is fighting their own silent battles. She has fought her own battles, with confidence and self worth that she was so brave to talk about with me.
I never take for granted the exchange that happens when I am chatting with someone. People’s stories are precious and I try to handle them all with care. Eleanor is no exception. She is insanely loveable, so very smart and has a determination to change the world for the better
