  • This time on The Activity Continues, Megan and Amy rolled the dice and landed on The Holzer Files: Lambert Castle. What followed was a haunted castle, mysterious past-life connections, family secrets, psychic roadblocks, and one very persistent paranormal mystery that may or may not have been completely solved.

Along the way, we also spent a surprising amount of time introducing Megan to Amy’s newest foster-fail pup, discussing whether ghosts can keep secrets for over a century, and trying to decide if Lambert Castle was genuinely haunted or just really committed to being dramatic.

This is the public (edited) version of this episode. If you would like to see the full episode, mostly unedited, please go to our Patreon where you can join us, and watch this and all our upcoming episodes ad-free and often extended. Or you can purchase just this episode. We’d love to have you as part of the Ghosty Fam!

Grab a drink, meet the newest member of the canine cast, and join us for a night of ghosts, castles, and chaos.

OBS made a terrible life choice during this recording and partially hid Megan behind the episode footage. We didn't discover it until editing. The audio is fine. Megan survived.

  • Our first Holzer Files Reaction: Grave Secrets

This week, Amy and Megan continue their experiment of rolling the dice and reacting to a paranormal show they've never pre-screened. Their random selection leads them to a haunted house, a mysterious bloodstain, a tragic family legend, and one very unsettling ghost whose preferred method of communication appears to be shushing people.

As the investigation unfolds, long-held local stories start to unravel, leaving Amy and Megan questioning everything they thought they knew about the haunting. Along the way, they spiral into discussions about nightgowns, muumuus, Blair Witch trauma, ghost-hunting gadgets, and whether some paranormal legends survive simply because they're too good for a town to let go.

Join us for haunted history, unexpected twists, and a healthy amount of paranormal tomfoolery.

  • Research and Rabbit Holes for TDF "The Lady in Black"

After our first-ever watch-together episode, it was time to do what we do best: pull on every loose historical thread we could find and see where it led. Spoiler alert: it led to failed divorces, mysterious house histories, censured juries, tornadoes, and at least one rabbit hole that ended in a spectacular dead end.

This week, Amy brings the receipts leaving listeners and Megan equally surprised by every twist and turn. We discuss a podcast review so sweet it nearly makes us cry, the accidental Midwestern art of saying "uff da" and "ope," and why the best podcasts feel less like shows and more like hanging out with friends.

Then we head back to Marshalltown, Iowa, where the questions only get stranger. Did the house have a dark history before Kelly and Mike moved in? Did their paranormal investigations bring something home with them? Why did previous residents report nothing unusual? And how exactly does a house drop nearly 70% in price?

Along the way, we uncover an eerie letter from the homeowners themselves, featuring flying wine glasses, mystery scratches, grandchildren chatting with an old woman upstairs, and a laptop that somehow froze on a photograph of Angie Braddock's gravestone before anyone knew who she was. Because apparently normal coincidences were not invited to this party.

We also dive deep into the story of K.C. Roberts, the faith healer at the center of multiple death investigations. That sends us into discussions about Christian Science, coroner's juries, old-timey public shaming, legal loopholes, and the frustrating realization that some human behaviors haven't changed much in the last 125 years.

    Plus:

    · Megan invents new legal theories despite not attending law school.

    · Amy becomes temporarily obsessed with spelling variations of the same man's name.

    · We mourn a very good dog.

    · We discover that Angie once tried to divorce her husband.

    · And we once again prove that no historical mystery is safe from becoming a tangent.

    ·

So, grab your mug of hot cocoa and join us where

  • Recapping The Dead Files “The Lady in Black” (Season 10 Episode 6)

This week we did something we’ve somehow NEVER done before: we rolled dice live on-air to randomly pick a Dead Files episode, and watched it together completely blind in real time, IN PERSON.

Which means you get our uncensored reactions, immediate theories, interruptions, chaos, and approximately seventeen side quests.

The dice landed us in Marshalltown, Iowa for The Lady in Black, featuring a haunted house owned by paranormal investigators who may have finally found a case they can’t handle themselves. Along the way we discuss violent hauntings, creepy staircases, spirit attachments, whether dead people sleep, and one deeply upsetting shallow grave situation involving Richard Tasler, AKA “the hobo con man.”

    We also spiral into:

    · whether closed captions help or destroy your ability to watch TV,

    · paranormal investigator qualifications,

    · Christian Science and faith healing,

    · Michael Peterson and the owl theory,

    · how many post-conviction filings is TOO many,

    · and why Amy would absolutely interview the family dog if given the opportunity.

There are ghost children, a woman in a black veil, increasingly alarming injuries, and several moments where we completely derail ourselves before trying to remember we are technically recapping a television show.

    Ponder:

If multiple people in a house think one family member is “changing” because of paranormal activity
but that person doesn’t believe any of it
 who do you trust?

    Witness:

Steve swearing when he sees the sketch, and Megan reminding him it’s a family show, damm*t!

    Weigh-In:

If Amy Allan told you a spirit wanted your family gone and said moving was the only option
 would you leave the house?

So, grab your dice, your closed captions remote, and maybe a flashlight for the staircase
 and join us where

  • In this episode, we wrap up our three-part Death Valley series by diving into the 2000 documentary Amargosa—and let’s just say
 we had thoughts.

We get into Megan’s slow burn experience with the film (it took about an hour to click
but when it did, it really did), while Amy was immediately charmed by its very specific “1970s educational film” vibe—grainy footage, questionable cinematography, and all. Somehow, this thing both feels amateur and also won an Emmy, which
 we’re still processing.

But what really pulled us in wasn’t the filmmaking—it was Marta

We talk about her resilience, her wildly difficult upbringing, her complicated relationships, and how she somehow came out the other side as this deeply optimistic, slightly woo-woo, fully committed artist who just
did whatever the hell brought her joy. Whether that was painting murals she didn’t own, performing for empty rooms, or building an entire life in the middle of nowhere, Marta didn’t wait for permission.

So, grab your wildflower seeds and join us where

  • Research and Rabbit Holes for The Dead Files “Death Valley” (Season 2 Episode 19) which aired May 17, 2013.

This week we’re back in Death Valley Junction—but this time, we’re going deeper. Like
five days of rabbit holes deeper.

In part two of this three-part series, we leave the recap behind and dive headfirst into the history of the Amargosa Opera House and Hotel
 and things get complicated fast.

We uncover the origins of the property as a 1920s mining hub built to impress investors (for a booming industry that lasted
about three years), complete with dormitories, a cafe, a general store, and—yes—an infirmary that the show barely touched on.

From there, we follow the story of how the place sat abandoned for decades before ballerina Marta Becket arrived in 1967 and quite literally adopted it—painting her own audience on the walls and performing for them when no one else showed up. (We love her. We would die for her.)

    But then
 things take a turn.

We dig into what may have really happened with Rich and Mary Lee—because despite what the show implies, it doesn’t seem like ghosts are the only reason they left. There are power struggles, conflicting stories, a very suspicious letter that may or may not have actually been written by Marta, and just enough missing information to make everything feel a little
 off.

So, grab your refrigerator yogurt (labeled it so Terry from accounting doesn’t take it) and join us where

  • Recapping The Dead Files “Death Valley” (Season 2 Episode 19) which aired May 17, 2013.

This is the first episode in our three-part series based on this episode of The Dead Files.

In this episode, we switch things up and go back to our roots—Amy watches the episode and recaps it for Megan, who comes in completely blind (and highly caffeinated). What starts as a simple desert haunting quickly turns into a “wait
 what is this place?” situation.

We talk about the bizarre reality of Death Valley Junction—a “town” that is basically just one property, an opera house, and a hotel sitting in the middle of nowhere. Amy Allan is immediately overwhelmed, Steve asks the important questions (and misses a few obvious ones
looking at you, Dracula nails), and we spiral into discussions about scratches, ghostly bed-sitters, and whether older skin is just out here betraying us.

There are tangents (of course), including our old recording habits, late-night exhaustion, and the realization that we’ve always been like this
we’re just better at editing it now.

Also: ring shots, reservoirs, and the very real possibility that this entire place is just
 off.

So, grab your coffee (before we have to take another break to refill it) and join us where
 The Activity Continues.

  • This week we’re recapping The Dead Files “Buried” (Season 14, Episode 11) which originally aired February 3, 2023.

Amy and Megan close out their Ohio series with a case that somehow includes: teachers recommending paranormal investigators, a basement ghost who apparently runs a burial service, and one very stressed nine-year-old who just wants to go back to being a “playful boy.”

Along the way, we discuss the truly wild moment when Kingston’s teachers tell his mom she should call The Dead Files, debate whether ghost kids are ever a good sign (spoiler: absolutely not), and wonder why Steve always asks clients if they’ve been “taking any weed.”

We also tackle the real mysteries of the episode, like why the show suddenly discovered drone shots, why Word absolutely refuses to learn how to spell Steve DiSchiavi, and how a ghost can apparently keep burying the same victim over and over while yelling “stay dead.”

    Plus:

woodpecker headaches, ghost LEGO buddies, purse-strap demonstrations, basement dread, and a brief but passionate discussion about woodpeckers that absolutely nobody asked for.

    Ponder

If a ghost is trying to keep their victim quiet by repeatedly burying them in the basement
does that mean the haunting is less about revenge and more about covering up a crime that refuses to stay buried?

    Witness

Both Amy and Megan try to explain things that they have no business explaining.

    Weigh-In

If your child’s teachers told you they think your kid is seeing ghosts
and suggested you call paranormal investigators
would you be relieved someone believes them, or immediately start looking for a new school?

So grab your bird-watching book and join us where
The Activity Continues.

    Content Warning:

In this episode we mention child death in history (fire), so please consider before listening. But if you watch The Dead Files, you should be fine. Also we swear.

  • Recapping The Dead Files “Demon War” (Season 4 Episode 4) which aired August 2, 2014.

There are demons. There are bat faces. There is a mirror moment that made us deeply uncomfortable. And yes, Steve is once again diggin’ tru the archives.

But what we really found ourselves talking about? The baby.

When a toddler becomes central to a paranormal narrative, things get complicated. We explore the historical threads Steve uncovers, the emotional energy inside the home, and how quickly folklore imagery can escalate when fear enters the chat.

    Also: math gets us again.

As always, we balance curiosity with compassion
and maybe just a little healthy skepticism.

Observe: Amy attempting to pronounce “qigong” (chee-gong) without Googling it first.

Ponder: How do you even make an appointment for a child exorcism
and is it covered by insurance?

Weigh-In: How do you feel about adults calling each other “baby”? Better or worse than “lover”?

So, grab your bat-faced demon sketchpad and join us where

  • Recapping The Dead Files “Tangled” (Season 10, Episode 2) which aired June 22, 2013

We kick off our Ohio Three-Fer with shadow snakes, basement rage, and a 19th-century commune that absolutely did not get good Yelp reviews from the town. This house isn’t just haunted — it’s rooted.

Black vine-like tendrils creep through the land and into the living, and we unpack what happens when depression, history, and paranormal energy all tangle together.

We talk Free Love backlash, Victorian motherhood (twelve children??), morphine, menopause vs. malevolent spirits, and whether tar water is a reasonable Amazon purchase or a sign it’s time to move.

    It’s eerie. It’s layered. It’s feral.

Ponder: If negative energy can embed in land
can it spread like an infection?

Witness: Steve calling the commune “woo woo crap” while literally working on a ghost show.

Weigh-In: If Amy told you to spray tar water around your entire house — would you stay
 or would you move?

So, grab your tar water (don’t miss a spot!), and join us where

  • Recapping The Dead Files “Betrayed” (Season 2 Episode 13) which aired April 5, 2013

We talk mental health threads (this officially completes Amy’s accidental Three-Fer), basement dread, and why being six feet tall does not automatically make you immune to fear. Fred earns MVP Dad status, and we unpack how terrifying it must be to feel like you can’t protect your own kids from something you can’t see. It’s heavy
but it’s also Egg Haba, so we manage to spiral appropriately.

  • Recapping The Dead Files “Satan’s Revenge” (Season 4 Episode 5) which aired August 9, 2014.

In this episode of The Activity Continues, we dig into one of the most intense episodes of The Dead Files yet. This was a listener request from long-time supporter, Zoey! Thank you Zoey!

Steve and Amy travel to rural Michigan to help a family whose dream home has become a waking nightmare. What begins as reports of footsteps, shadow figures, and unexplained injuries quickly escalates into something far darker. The basement of this home appears to be holding dozens of hostile, negative entities, including a powerful shadow figure with violent intentions.

As the investigation unfolds, we talk about:

    · A terrifying concentration of negative spirits in one location

    · Physical injuries, scratches, and life-altering accidents

    · Trauma, PTSD, and how past abuse may intersect with paranormal experiences

    · The psychological vs. paranormal question (and where it breaks down)

    · Why doors, stairs, and basements are never just architectural features on The Dead Files

    · Also don’t forget the side quests: Minnesota weather, headaches, and sleep socks (yes or no?)

It’s disturbing. It’s emotional. And it raises one big question:

How the hell do you end up with fifty bad dead people in your basement?

So, grab your footie jammies, and join us where
 The Activity Continues.

    Content Warnings

    This episode contains discussion of:

    · Childhood sexual abuse

    · Suicide

    · Miscarriage / infant loss

    · PTSD and trauma

    · Self-harm

    · Physical injury and medical trauma

Listener discretion is strongly advised. Also, while Amy and Steve's swears are bleeped on TV, ours are not.

This week, we kick off Season 7 by revisiting “Am I Crazy?”, a case that asks a familiar question with an uncomfortable twist: is the homeowner losing her grip on reality, or uncovering a long-buried truth no one wanted exposed?

In Great Falls, Montana, Kelly believes she’s being contacted by the spirit of Valeria Gibson, a woman erased from the historical record and dismissed in death as “hysterical.”

Through dreams, intuition, and a growing pile of unsettling clues, Kelly uncovers a story that doesn’t match the official version, and medium Amy Allan corroborates that story.

As Steve Dischiavi digs for missing blueprints, vanished records, and suspicious inconsistencies, a pattern emerges: when women tell the truth, history has a habit of calling them unstable. But three women—Valeria, Kelly, and Amy—tell the same story across time.

She’s not crazy. She’s just not being believed.

    So
is this a haunting? A cover-up? Or both?

So, grab your Nespresso, and join us where
 The Activity Continues.

  • It’s the end of another wild and weird year on The Activity Continues! In this season finale, Amy and Megan hunker down with cocoa, cozy blankets, and a healthy dose of sarcasm to look back on all things TAC 2025. We revisit our favorite moments, share clips from standout episodes, and shout out the listeners and Patreon crew who keep us (mostly) sane.

Buckle up for haunted Minnesota, listener requests, out-of-context pig facts (yep, you read that right), gratitude for the lovely people we interviewed this year, and our ongoing quest for the perfect ghost story.

There’s talk of imaginary friends, spirit guides, investigating haunted hotels (with adult diapers and crystals, obviously), and a whole lot of gratitude for everyone who stuck around through the shenanigans. But don’t get misty-eyed—this is just our season wrap, not a goodbye!

We’ll be back after a short break with even more ghostly antics, wild tangents, and haunted hijinks.

  • This week we’re recapping The Dead Files episode “House of Mirrors,” (Season 5 episode 3) but — in true TAC fashion — we veer wildly off the rails in the best possible ways.

We also talked about Megan’s full-blown Oregon Chai obsession, Amy’s unexpected backyard cryptid sighting, whether possums are adorable or demonic, why yelling at ghosts never works, and the ongoing “tree burial vs. cremation vs. body farm” debate that absolutely will not die.

We talk of the upcoming season finale, listener suggestions for new investigations, potential paranormal podcast crossovers, and haunted places within road-trip distance that the TAC crew could visit in 2026.

Prepare for tricksters, history, side quests, and a whole lot of laughing at the absurdity of it all.

So grab your Oregon chai (trust us), get cozy, and join us
where The Activity Continues.

    Content Warning:

In this episode we mention suicide by hanging (or was it?) and some child death in history.

Also, while Amy and Steve's swears are bleeped on TV, ours are not.

  • Guest: Diana Doty — co-host of Homespun Haints

She’s back—and so are the ghosts.

This week, we welcome Diana Doty of Homespun Haints for her long-awaited return to TAC, and things get deliciously weird (again). From haunted mirrors that open into impossible green hallways to the eerie overlap between skepticism, storytelling, and sleep paralysis, we explore what happens when logic meets the paranormal—and what it means to keep laughing in the dark.

    In This Episode

    · Revisiting Diana’s famous basement haunting and what’s changed since she sold the house.

    · Her haunted bathroom mirror portal (yes, really) and why some objects refuse to behave.

    · The push-pull between science and spirit—how a Vulcan mathematician dad and a fairy-healer mom made her the perfect paranormal hybrid.

    · When storytelling becomes summoning—can talking about ghosts actually attract them?

    · A deep dive into sleep paralysis, shadow figures, and the line between dream and visitation.

If you like your ghost stories smart, your skeptics funny, and your haunted objects a little too familiar, this one’s for you. It’s an episode about curiosity, fear, and the fine art of not taking eternity too seriously.

So grab your favorite athletic cup and join us, where The Activity Continues.

  • with Beverly McChesney

Beverly is back, and she’s bringing dragons, past lives, and Prince with her. In this episode, we reconnect with Beverly McChesney — a psychic channel, event organizer, and all-around magical being — who last appeared in Episode 134: The Channeler and the Dragon Meister.

We catch up on all the fascinating things Beverly’s been up to since her last visit, including organizing metaphysical markets, channeling spirits (including you know who from Paisley Park), and sharing wisdom from her vivid past life regressions. One of those lives? A swamp-dwelling herbalist named Mama Ruby with serious healing skills and a no-nonsense attitude.

    We also dive into:

    · Whether everyone is secretly a medium

    · The difference between being psychic, a medium, and just highly intuitive

    · Protection, energy clearing, and why light is your best defense

    · The myth of attachments and the power of personal vibration

    · The ethics (and scams) in the world of psychics and healers

    · What happened when Beverly visited Prince’s studio... and spoke to him

    · Time slips, ghost kids, and haunted mansions

    · Her gallery readings and traveling witchy bazaars in Kentucky

Plus, we get her advice for how to stay spiritually grounded when the world feels like it’s crumbling.

It’s heartfelt, spooky, occasionally silly, and totally enlightening. This one’s for the woo-curious, the spiritual skeptics, and the ghost-loving weirdos in all of us.

    Mentioned in This Episode:

    · Mama Ruby’s Mystic Market events in Kentucky

    · Owensboro’s haunted Cupola mansion

    · Past life regression and hypnotic memory recall

    · Ghost Brothers TV show (and their real-life kindness)

    · The energy of grief and loss in public tragedies

    · Psychic medium Rose Campbell ("Sessions with Spirit")

  • and the Turd in the Car

Recapping The Dead Files Fatal Attachment (Season 2 Episode 1) which aired August 10, 2012.

This week, TAC digs into one of the most haunting (and surprisingly sweet) early episodes of The Dead Files: Fatal Attachment. A small-town dentist’s office is plagued by strange activity, a sad little girl spirit, and the looming shadow of an abusive father. Amy and Megan unravel the mystery behind Lavina Wall’s tragic story — and discover just how much empathy can tether the living to the dead.

Expect stairwell chills, ghost logs, creepy teddy bears, and yes
 The Turd in the Car.

Haunted dentistry, toxic family secrets, and more than a few laughs —

So, grab your radiator moonshine, and join us where
 The Activity Continues.

    Content Warning:

In this episode we mention domestic abuse. Also, we swear.

  • Haunted Prison: A Shadow Devil, 1980 Riot Energy, and a Burned Relic

Recapping The Dead Files “Death Sentence” (aka “Prisoner of Shadows”): (Season 1 Episode 19) which aired June 29, 2012.

We review a film shoot inside a decommissioned penitentiary, a whispered “Hey,” a client who took home a souvenir (then
burned it), and Amy & Steve breaking protocol mid-case.

We unpack why prisons hang onto rage, fear, and you-really-shouldn’t-take-that energy.

Expect: shadow-devil vibes, wall-crawlers, portal “holes,” and a reveal where the sketch is meh but the consequences are not.

So grab your stolen hat, and join us where The Activity Continues

    Content warnings

Prison violence (referenced), discussion of the 1980 prison riot, medical distress, demons/attachments. No gore.

    Highlights

Why this prison case hits different: protocol break (Amy & Steve meet pre-reveal)

“Don’t take souvenirs from haunted sites” — and definitely don’t burn them

The “Devil Shop” nickname, shadow-devil activity, and that gross basement hole

Sound design tricks (insect buzzing = instant dread) and Exorcist homage vibes

How mob mentality supercharges hauntings long after the riot is over
