He identified four archetypes of modern workers: side hustlers, freelancers, multi-hyphenates, and focus experts. Side hustlers, particularly prevalent among Gen Z, balance full-time employment with additional ventures pursued during evenings or weekends. Freelancers leverage their expertise across multiple clients, while multi-hyphenates juggle diverse roles and income sources. Focus experts, on the other hand, excel in integrating their various interests into a cohesive narrative, offering unique insights and services.
Central to this career evolution is the concept of Ikigai, a Japanese philosophy meaning "reason for being." By aligning personal passions with societal impact and financial viability, individuals can chart a purpose-driven career path. Charlie emphasised the importance of discovering your Ikigai as a guiding principle for career planning and fulfillment in the rapidly changing work landscape.
