    He is a WFD Hiring Coordinator, WFD Truck Coordinator, Georgia Smoke Diver #1043, FDIC H.O.T Class Specialist, Wichita HOT Board Member/Instructor, Suspended EMT.

    In this episode we discuss his beginnings with WFD, how the culture has changed over the years, hiring practices, and dive in to the Georgia Smoke Diver program.

  • On today’s episode I speak to Jesse Clark of the Boise Fire Department.  He has a passion for Fitness and firefighter wellness and is currently a senior firefighter paramedic, and fitness lead for the BFD.   As someone who has been a First Responder for the past 17 years and was directly involved in one of Boise Fire’s most tragic incidents, he understands the need to fortify yourself to withstand the worst and have mechanisms in place when it becomes too much. 

    In this episode we discuss his involvement in developing the "Forging Wellness, Optimizing Resiliency" Conference hosted by the Boise Fire Department.  The class that he’ll be presenting is called, “The Fitness Key, Opening the Door to Overall Wellness” and discusses the latest research on optimizing resiliency, fitness, and long term wellness for firefighters.  We dive into some key take aways and things that he learned while creating his presentation as well as cover topics like program design, the benefits of crew workouts, and the power of physical fitness in building resilient first responders.

  • In this Episode we talk to "Gus" from Westside Barbell and Conjugate Tactical.  We briefly discuss his background, what brought him to Westside, and how Conjugate Tactical came to be.  We dive into "The Methods" and how we can use them to address the needs of the Fire Service and other Tactical Populations.  His unique background, experience, and wealth of knowledge gives "Gus" a really good vantage point to discuss how can train Tactical populations like the fire service as he passes the baton to coaches around the world to take the work of Louie Simmons and apply it to their specific environment and occupation.

  • Frank Beauvais is a Captain for the City of Nampa where he has served for the past 24 years. He has owned and operated a thriving gym in Nampa, ID for the past 10 years. Frank has numerous certifications in Strength and Conditioning including being an IAFF Peer Fitness trainer for over a decade and currently assists in teaching coursework for the College of Western Idaho’s Fire Science program. Frank is the Co-Founder of Brotherhood in Training and over the years has helped develop programs for fire departments all over the country.  He brings a unique set of skills to the Fire Service with his ability to teach fireground skills as well as has an eye for movement and a passion for coaching. In this episode we revisit what it was like when he first joined the fire service, how "Fitness" was viewed at the time, and how that has changed over the years.  As is common when talking with Frank, we get sidetracked, go down some rabbit holes, and have a little fun discussing his career, motivation, and the reality of getting older and finding a way to stay consistent.
