  • I finally have a guest back in the studio. Patrick Greenan, Pitching Coach at Salem State and Pitching Coordinator at 781 Evo joins the arena.

Pat and I met in Vermont playing American Legion against each other and have kept in touch ever since. Pat brings a similar philosophy as Primal Baseball to the table.

in this episode, we talk about Pat's baseball journey, along with his recovery from TOS and his training methods and protocols.

We end the episode by debating the importance of having a mechanical sided player (lab rat) and making sure they can compete when things arise in the game(gamer).

In life things will not be smooth, if you train with grit and non-perfect conditions, you will be prepared when obstacles arise.

The obstacle is the way, Let's have a week.

  • In today's episode, I have former farm roommate and former Babson College teammate Henry Leake on the podcast.

Henry is the current Director of Pitching Development at Boston College. He recently finished his collegiate career that covered 6 years, two divisions, and one summer playing in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Henry and I tackle the mindset shifts that come with changing from starters to relievers. As well as the struggles we had mentally during our time in college baseball.

We talk about the passion and drive behind the success we have had in college baseball and the performance enhancers no one is talking about because it doesn't sell.

Henry touches on the fundamentals of enjoying the game and having fun through simplicity as one of the main factors that led to his performance increases.

We give actionable steps on how to handle little to no resources, and what to do if your school does not have a pitching coach.

This is one you do not want to skip. Enjoy.

  • Another thoughts of the day episode packed in between some new guests on the show. Today I give some thoughts from my experiences over the past couple of days and try to relate them to baseball and life.

First, if we have a target, we have a better chance of getting there. If we don't know what we are aiming for, how are we supposed to hit it? As we identify a destination, we can correct the trajectory if we get lost along the way. We can always be off line, reset our sights.

Think about it this way, if you are driving from your house to the store, there are generally lots of different roads to take, they all get to the same place, not one is right. Find a way to the target.

Lastly, if you have intention with the plan, you have a better chance at finding a way to your goals. If you are committed and unafraid of making mistakes, instead attacking, the universe rewards you. Throw a curveball with all your intent and hang it? You can still get a ground out. Baby a curve with little intent, there's more of a chance it gets crushed.

  • Just like the weight room, you can use progressive overloading to level up in your life. Slowly get better at reading, working, learning etc. Slowly add difficulty and tasks/responsibilities into your life. You become stronger and can handle them little by little.

When you look back at how far you've come we generally want to go back and savor the moments we desperately are trying to get out of. We want to fast forward to being rich, to being famous, to being popular and having it all. Look around and find the gratitude and fun in having nothing. Having to grind everyday, having to build your character, being forged in the fire. Enjoy that part, without it there is no bright future. Embrace it.

Lastly, try to worry about yourself, cut off social media for a second, enjoy what you are doing, build what you are doing. Be happy for others, yet focus on your path. Your way, your dreams.

  • Today's guest is Brent Pourciau, Founder of Top Velocity, a pitching development company with a unique approach to developing velocity and pitchers.

Brent and I discuss various topics including controversial baseball training modalities, methods, pitching mechanics, and ensuring pitchers are getting individualized performance training.

Pitching is not a one-size fits all category, just because a big leaguer does it a certain way, does not mean you should. Every pitcher has different strengths whether that be pitch type, arm slot, velocity or movement. It all adds together making you the pitcher you are.

  • Professional Baseball Player Weston Lombard joins the podcast and we go down the rabbit hole of playing multiple sports and why it is beneficial to training and pitching. Weston talks about his experience of going from playing Division III to securing a spot on a Division I roster and finally playing professional baseball.

Being from Minnesota, Weston understands not everyone has resources to technology and coaching. He gives advice and recommendations for players with less resources, allowing them to continue chasing their goals regardless of where they are from.

We discuss becoming a better person through continuous improvement in the small tasks we complete each day. Becoming a better person allows us to perform better, the foundations and processes are already built in, allowing our high performance to be a default setting.
