Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski tried to clear the air on Thursday, following last weekâs interesting comments about Bryce Harper.
Did he? Dombrowski shot down the ridiculous suggestion that the Philadelphia Phillies are thinking about trading Harper. They are not. But Harperâs agent Scott Boras might have had the most interesting things to say about this whole idea that Harper might not be an elite player anymore: If the Phillies want Harper to crush MLB pitching again, they need a legit power hitter to hit behind him in the lineup.

Dave Dombrowski spoke for nearly an hour on Thursday morning at Citizens Bank Park.
He hinted at change for the Philadelphia Phillies following their latest early exit in the postseason. But what does change look like? Big, bold changes? Maybe a few tweaks? Itâs over. The Philadelphia Phillies lost the NLDS to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the most impossible way in Game 4 on Thursday at Dodger Stadium. Orion Kerkering got a ground ball back to the mound with the bases loaded and two outs in the 11th inning. He booted it. He panicked and he threw a ball over J.T. Realmutoâs head, when all he needed to do was throw the ball to first base to end the inning.
Now, the Phillies must try to pick up the pieces.

The Phillies are alive.
They beat the Dodgers in Game 3 of the NL Division Series on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium, 8-2. Kyle Schwarber crushed a game-tying homer in the fourth inning that landed beyond the bleachers in right field. Aaron Nola and Ranger SuĂĄrez executed a pitching plan that worked to near perfection. Schwarberâs blast sparked a slumbering offense as Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto also homered later in the game.

The Phillies clinched a first-round bye on Wednesday night, and they did it in historic fashion.
They smashed a franchise-record eight home runs in a victory over the Marlins. Edmundo Sosa hit three, becoming the first shortstop in Phillies history to homer three times in a game. Kyle Schwarber hit two, moving within two homers of tying Ryan Howardâs franchise-record 58 homers in a season. Bryson Stott, Alec Bohm and Otto Kemp also homered.
We also talk about the craziness in the NL Wild Card race, and JesĂșs Luzardoâs impressive first season in Philadelphia.
