Steve Smith is an award winning recording engineer, scoring engineer and mixer.
Today, Steve serves as Creative Director of Creatio, Northwest University’s Center for Technology, Media, and Design, where he has spent more than fifteen years preparing the next generation of creators, storytellers, and industry leaders. He also leads the C.A.S.E. (Communications, Arts, Sciences, and Entrepreneurship) program at Shawnigan Lake School on Vancouver Island, helping students develop innovative, interdisciplinary skills for a rapidly changing world.
He is talented ,brilliant and funny.
He's also my older brother, without whom I would not have had a career. Steve got me started as a studio manager at Take One Recording and has always been there to support me over the years.
I hope you enjoy hearing about his incredible career that spans 5 decades.

Clint Welander is an amazing recording and mix engineer. He is a Grammy Winner, having won best Reggae album at the 55thAnnual Grammy Awards.
Clint has worked with many great artists including Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Brad Gilderman has been my friend since the 80's... He's a very talented engineer, 4X Grammy winner. He also owns a studios in Burbank called Little Big Room, where he continues to work with artists of all genres and bring their music to life.
He is one of the funniest and smartest people I know.

Gordon Bahary
Gordon Bahary is a multi-platinum recording artist, songwriter, composer and producer. As one of the early synthesizer pioneers, Bahary got his start at the age of 15 working with Stevie Wonder as his synthesizer programmer in 1975. They collaborated on his album “The Secret Life of Plants.” Bahary’s blockbuster hip-hop/R&B hit “Electric Kingdom” reached number 7 on Billboard. Other collaborations include synthesizer programming for Herbie Hancock, producing jazz legend Ramsey Lewis and actor/singer Raven Symone, as well as Grammy recipients: soprano, Hila Plitmann and composer, Richard Danielpour. He is currently focusing on scoring for TV and film, and his electronic music projects.
He's a very talented and funny guy. Happy to call him a friend.

Katja Rieckermann- an amazing saxophonist, producer, and author.
She has had a fascinating life as a successful touring musician with Rod Stewart, and she has a cool live band. Make sure to go see her play if you ever get a chance

Richard Smith began his recording career at the famed Record Plant Los Angeles in the early 70's.
Then owners Gary Kelgren and Chris Stone along with iconic studio manager Rose Mann Cherney helmed one of the most famous recording studios in the world.
Th record Plant was home to many well known recordings, including Steve Wonder's -"Songs In The Key Of Life",, Frank Zappa's Burnt Weenie Sandwich, and may more. Richard worked with many well known artists and producers of that time.
Gary Ladinsky also a Record Plant alum opened an audio gear rental company -Design FX where Rick worked alongside his best friend and well known Record Plant alum Lee Kiefer.
He then went on to live and work in Honolulu HI, working at studios throughout Honolulu and also working with the Honolulu Symphony.
Richard returned to his hometown of Charleston SC a few years ago where he continues to play guitar and delight the residents of Charleston.
AND btw he is also my older brother. Love you Rick!

I met Bradley Kohn when he came to east West as a client a few years ago. Since then we have become great friends. he is a talented engineer, producer, artist, songwriter. He has helped many artists along their way to becoming very successful.
He has great ideas for modern production and has a deep appreciation of all music and the people who make it.

Rob Chiarelli is an American record producer, mix engineer, musician, published author and multiple Grammy Award winner. Widely recognized as a music producer for Will Smith and Men in Black II (2002), Chiarelli's work appears on numerous gold and platinum albums and motion picture soundtracks, including twenty Grammy winners.
He's also an old friend of mine. Rob hails from Newton MA. He is a gent and a talent.

David Channing is a very talented guy. He's understated and unassumingly brilliant.ever since I met him I have respected his technical abilities as well as his ability to read a room..
A skill that is most essential when working under pressure on a soundstage or when helping to edit a score.
He is most definitely the smartest person in any room, at least any room I've been in...

Tom Camuso • Grammy Award–winning engineer and studio owner
Best known for work with Blondie, Steve Earle, Medeski Martin & Wood, Lenny Kravitz and Les Paul.
Tom is a dear friend and one of the most talented engineers I know.
He has brought Les Paul and Mary Ford's legacy back to life. Along with the team at the Les Paul Foundation he has created a working studio utilizing Les Paul's original console and 8 track tape machine.
Housed in historic United Studios, Studio D at 6050 Sunset in Hollywood, this amazing studio also has a lathe.

My friend EveAnna Manley, longtime president of Manley Laboratories, Inc. is a renowned
leader in high-end vacuum tube audio design and manufacturing. She led
Manley Labs for over three decades, shaping the sound of modern
recording and hi-fi. Now retired from manufacturing, having sold her
company in July 2025, she is currently developing a post-production
audio hub alongside her personal creative maker-space in Eagle Rock, Los

Dave Schiffman is a Grammy-winning, multi-platinum producer, mixer, and engineer known for his work with a wide range of artists, including Adele, Vampire Weekend, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. He did many projects at Ocean Way, and Cello Studios, working with legendary producer Rick Rubin on numerous projects. Schiffman's diverse discography includes artists like System of a Down, Haim, and The Strumbellas.
Dave continues to work with talented creators, using many great studios in Los Angeles: Conway, Sunset Sound, East West Studios, and henson to name ea few.
He is a gentleman, and a joy to work with.

Krish is an extremely talented audio engineer, producer and entrepreneur. His dedication to helping creators realize their dreams is his driving passion.
Krish has worked with The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger and as well has mixed many film scores, including Disney's :Ice Princess, and Herbie Fully Loaded. He was the remix engineer for the film the Jackal in 1997. In 2016 he won a Grammy for best blues Album for the Rolling Stones album "Blue & Lonesome".
In 2016 he founded and was appointed CEO of BYG Music, which serves as a label and music marketing platform. He is creative, funny and kind. I hope you enjoy his episode.

Peter McCabe is a renowned music producer, sound mixer and photographer based in the
greater Los Angeles area, Peter McCabe has worked in virtually every
popular music genre over his 30-year career. He has worked with some of
the biggest names in the music business ranging from Willie Nelson, BB
King, Paul McCartney and Kiss to Puff Daddy. More recently, McCabe moved
into sound mixing for cinema and television, although he’s still
actively involved in music producing. “I got my start in the 80's,
hanging out with some awesome musicians and bands, and I’ve been at it
ever since,” he says.
Today he still works with artists but also does a lot of great work for TV & Film. He is dedicated to the craft of Recording engineering and is a delight to work with. Both a pro and a really fun guy.

Rafael Moreira, is a Brazilian-American guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, producer. He was the lead guitarists and vocalist on the CBS hit show Rock Star, and was also the lead guitarist on NBC's The Voice.
He has toured with Pink, Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony and Paul Stanley and others.
His band Magnetico was just nominated for best Rock Song at the recent Hollywood Independent Music Awards. The track "What's Left of US" was Produced and co-written by Rafael and Mith Niles.
Whether playing with his Acid Jazz band at LA's famed Bake Potato, or performing with his Rock trio Magnetico, he is a charismatic force on both guitar and vocals.
