  • And we're back, with a brand new episode of Sassy Divorces! Americans are almost certainly familiar with Judge Judy, the no-nonsense jurist who's hosted history's most successful reality TV courtroom since way back in the 1990s. And if you think the TV version of Judy Sheindlin is tough, wait 'till you hear about her in real life. When her first husband didn't take her career seriously, she chose her career. When her second husband didn't take her grief after losing her father seriously, she handed him divorce papers. Well - about that. Turns out even a tough-as-nails judge has a heart, and she and Jerry Sheindlin got married again, and have been enjoying happily ever after for more than 30 years now.

  • Mary J. Blige has been on top for so long that it's entirely proper to refer to her as the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, but for all of her astonishing professional success in music and beyond, her personal life has featured more than her fair share of obstacles. After a mixed bag of relationships in her 20s, she thought she had finally found the one when she married her manager in 2003 - only to find herself in financial peril years later, when she discovered in divorce proceedings that he'd not only broken her heart, but left her buried in debt, as well.
Thank you for another amazing season of Trashy Divorces! We'll be back with Season 22 starting Wednesday, April 10!

  • When actors Joshua Jackson (Dawson's Creek, Fringe) and Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim, Anne Boleyn) got together in 2018, it seemed like a match made in Hollywood heaven. But this is Trashy Divorces, so you can guess that the wedded bliss didn't last. After a sudden split in 2023, Jodie has been dropping epic, if somewhat cryptic, shade, and Joshua has recently been spotted vacationing with Lupita Nyong'o.

In the process, she experienced significant substance misuse and three marriages that were doomed to fail for various reasons - but today, she is happy and healthy and in a great marriage.

VanderPump Rules's Tom Sandoval is savoring his turn as the Most Hated Man in America.

Miley's mom Tish Cyrus allegedly stole her daughter's boyfriend - then married him.

Comedian John Mulaney is about to be absolutely torched by his ex-wife Anna Marie Tendler in her forthcoming memoir, Men Have Called Her Crazy (pre-order it here).

Dumbledore - actor Michael Gambon - had two families for the last two decades of his life, but his will is surprisingly stingy to his longtime mistress.

Actress Natalie Portman is now Millepied-free.

  • If you're on TikTok, you may have already come across the massively viral "Who TF Did I Marry" series over there. TikTokker reesamteesa has a banger of a story about her whirlwind romance, quick wedding, and rapid divorce from "Legion," a man she describes as a "pathological liar." It's a shocking story - part mystery, part love gone wrong - that Alicia has been fully engrossed by, and in this Part One, she breaks down the first six hours or so of @reesamteesa's epic tale.

  • Actor, comedian, and musician Cheech Marin stormed into the public imagination back in the 70's as half of the stoner comedy duo Cheech & Chong, but his career has long since expanded beyond weed-fueled road trip movies. Along the way, he's had ups and downs with creative partner Tommy Chong, gone through two divorces, and opened an art museum celebrating Chicano art. Alicia has the whole smoke-filled ride.

  • Actor and filmmaker John Derek may not have been the gifted auteur he imagined himself to be, but his luck with the ladies was undeniable. His four marriages were all to starlets, and his roving eye eventually led to an ugly split from a young Linda Evans, later of Dynasty fame, for an even younger - in fact, a minor at the time - Bo Derek.

  • Not every big breakup is romantic, as songwriting and performing legends Daryl Hall and John Oates are unfortunately learning in the Chancery Court of Nashville, Tennessee. Friends since college, the duo spent years honing their craft before breaking out big in the 1970s, and giving the world some of the catchiest music around - Maneater, Rich Girl, Kiss on My List, You Make My Dreams, among many others. Their half-century long partnership has existed long enough to see a revival of their early work in the last decade or two, but a recent lawsuit and restraining order may mark the definitive end of the band everybody knew as Hall & Oates.

  • James Brown was known by a lot of titles: The Godfather of Soul and The Hardest Working Man in Show Business among them, but as Alicia shares, his personal life was more than a little bit of a catastrophe. From trouble with the law, to trouble with the IRS, to extremely abusive relationships with women, this musical legend's legacy is mixed at best. And was he murdered?

  • When the Doctor Who television series rebooted on BBC in 2005, the producers were looking for a very specific type of person to play The Doctor's human traveling companion. They wanted a young actress to connect to a new generation of viewers, but also relatably perform the role of an ordinary girl whose adventures with The Doctor connect her to what makes her extraordinary. The selection of actress Billie Piper for the part of Rose Tyler was especially inspired; after all, Billie had been a pop star by age 15, only to walk away from a life she didn't want - and toward the one she did.

  • English actress Jane Seymour has been a mainstay in film and television for decades. From her breakout role as Bond girl Solitaire in Live and Let Die to her much loved turn as Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, she's been an elegant and indelible cultural presence, with a slew of awards to show for it. But her love life? Oh, that's been an awful lot rockier. Alicia has the trashy dirt on this almost-All Star.

  • We often cite Dumpster Dives as a Patreon benefit, and with so many TD Alums in the news lately, we thought it would be fun to bring one to the main feed. In the Dumpster this week, Alicia talks Grammys magic, of which there was plenty. Stacie takes a musical follow-up with the recent high-profile spat between exes Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. Then Alicia has thoughts about the spate of medical issues facing Britain's ruling family - King Charles III, Sarah Ferguson, and Kate Middleton are all off to a terrible start in 2024. Stacie updates us on the ongoing legal dispute between exes Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and the $500 million winery that they just can't seem to quit squabbling over, and Alicia closes us out with some delicious Taylor Swift trashcandy.

  • After finally catching a live performance of Hamilton the Musical this week, Alicia's mind returned to the wild life story of Hamilton antagonist Aaron Burr. Things didn't stop for him after the infamous duel, and Lin-Manuel Miranda's play doesn't even get into Burr's secret family, unacknowledged children, or his much later marriage to - and divorce from - one of the richest women in America. And if the tale is true, there may have been a bit of poetic justice on the part of the Hamilton family there at the end.

  • On March 5, 1973, Major League Baseball hosted what had to be the wildest pair of press conferences in its history. Yankees southpaw pitchers Mike Kekich and Fritz Peterson, for reasons that defy any kind of good explanation, revealed to reporters from spring training that they had not merely swapped wives with each other, but lives. Months before, Mike had moved into Fritz's home, with Fritz's wife, two children, and dog, and Fritz had moved into Mike's, with Mike's wife, his two children, and his dog. It set off a firestorm that tanked both of their careers, and left a stadium's worth of bad feelings between the two old friends.

  • Is there anyone who doesn't love actor Morgan Freeman? Star of iconic films like Driving Miss Daisy and The Shawshank Redemption, he's an Academy Award winner and the possessor of one the most recognizable voices in entertainment. As a celebrity with two divorces under his belt, he's definitely in our wheelhouse, but allegations - denied by all parties - that surfaced after his second divorce, and again during the trial of his granddaughter's murderer, leave a distinctly disturbing aftertaste to this one.

  • Actor and musician Joey Lawrence roared into Americans' consciousness at the tender age of 5, when he tap danced his way into our hearts on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show in 1982. From there, everything was coming up Joey for most of the next two decades: Gimme a Break!, Blossom, and Brotherly Love set his high water mark, but he's worked steadily in his industry ever since. He's also been through two divorces and a bankruptcy - and Stacie thinks he may have benefited from taking some "me time" in between his fast-moving relationships.
