It just came out and you should go see it on the biggest screen possible. It's also the fourth (well technically with) alien film in Spielbergs filmography. Spoiler warning for this one folks!

The night is always darkest before the dawn folks! And it was a dark day in the Tripod booth because it was the end of another TRILOGY! On this episode of Tripod, the boys discuss one of Paul Schrader's less heralded films: Light Sleeper, starring Willem Dafoe and Susan Sarandon. A film that explores paranoia, ennui and aimlessness in the concrete jungle of NYC. Is this film all one big metaphor for a mid-life crisis? And how does this film fit amongst Taxi Driver and American Gigolo, the previous instalments of the Night Worker Trilogy? Tune in to this very focused, very well researched, EXTREMELY locked in episode of Tripod to find out.

Oh yeeeeh! The night is still young listeners, and this week Tyrie and Matt are cruising down into the sleek, chic and sexy L.A. The city of angels, stars and the hottest American Gigolo...Richard Gere. The podbrothers chat about writer/director Paul Shrader's creative process, the hugely influential production and costume design of this 1980 film, and of course, whether or not Richard Gere has 'pig' eyes. We're so sorry Richard. Enjoy!

The Tripod boys are pulling an all nighter as they discuss TAXI DRIVER the first film in Paul Schrader's Night Worker Trilogy... Which is technically a series, but we don't have the budget to cover more than three films. That's kinda our whole thing. The discussion covers a wide range of topics while diving into the mind of cinema's most notorious protagonist, Travis Bickle. Enjoy.

Two friends cover a film about two friends. I refuse to elaborate further! WHAT?! It's a new episode of Reel Quick and they're covering what will certainly be one of the best films of the year: Nirvana the Band the Show the Movie.

Vertigo. One of the most famous movies ever made. Tyrie loved it. Matt did not. Hilarity, debate and analysis ensues...hopefully.
The pod-brothers also wrap up the Oscars (we know it's old news get off our backs!), and conclude the Hitchcock/Stewart Relationship trilogy by discussing the links (if any) between the three films covered and of course their rankings! Stay tuned for the announcement of next week's Reel Quick!

More like The FILM that BLEW too HARD! Am I right or am I right people? Look every now and again we see a master directors work and sometimes it just kinda STINKS okay. So what if we didn't like this thing, SUE us go on see if we care. It's long, the plot is wafer thin. At one point Dr. Meckenna drugs his wife so he can give her bad news.
Yeesh, anyway we talk about this and a bunch of other stuff... ENJOY!

Well hold on just a minute here. You're telling me that Alfred Hitchcock made an unofficial trilogy? You're darn right, bucko! And it's starring non-other than American film legend, Jimmy Stewart. In the upcoming three films, the dynamic duo explore what Hitch defined as the three phases of relationships; romance, marriage and loss. In this episode, Matt and Tyrie discuss all things Rear Window - how it got made, Hitchcock's idea of 'pure cinema', and if the film's slow pace holds up compared to the modern thrillers of today! Oh yeh, and Jimmy S may stop by for a visit from time to time...

Okay so, 28 years after Small Soldiers came this...Bone Temple. That's it. That's the whole connection to the previous unofficial trilogy and deserved discussion, so really any connection would have done. Join Matt and Tyrie as they dive into the fourth film in the 28 Years Later franchise, chatting about it's sickening but thematically useful depictions of violence, the wonder of Ralph Finnes, and the power of immersive theatre. And consider this listeners...Will the pod-brothers cover the third instalment in this Bone trilogy when it releases in the near future, marking the first 'official trilogy' on mic? Who knows, but they do say the Pod-Devil is always up for making a deal...

Everybody SHUT UP! New Tripod ahh episode just dropped. The boys are joined by Tasman Aspinall to script-doctormogg the hell out of Small Soldiers- a film they all love but admittedly is not without some... short comings? It's funny because the soldiers in this are small. Anyway, the boys discuss how fun this concept is, the impact it had on their childhood, the Burger King toys they inspired, and heaps heaps more! Stay tuned to find out what we're doing for our Reel Quick ep next week.

Well, we had a good run folks, but it finally happened. Tripod finally got POLITICAL! In this 2nd instalment of his War Trilogy, Matt and Tyrie discuss Joe Dante's signature satirical style on full display in 1997's The 2nd Civil War! From cracking jokes to predicting the future of mainstream media and politics, this HBO made for TV movie really has it all...it even has Coburn!

New Year, new TRILOGY! The boys have returned from their summer break to bring you Joe Dante's War Trilogy. Starting off with Matinee (1993) and folks we're just gonna say it... This film is about as hidden as a hidden gem can get. It's a meaty discussion covering the importance of storytelling and cinemas, the power of fear and much much more. Happy listening.

It's Christmas Eve and Tripod is back for one last holiday gift...but this one is more like a lump of dang coal! In the (merciful) final instalment of the trilogy, Tyrie, Matt and his brother Ben take Disney's Noelle to task, lamenting it's missed opportunities, under-utilised talent and wondering who it's actually for. The mouse certainly has a lot to answer for.
In any case, Merry Christmas and Happy Hoglidays everyone, we'll see you next week for our final ep of 2025!
Oh and please don't sue us, Peter Combe. We love you.

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me. A second instalment in the I'm related to Santa Trilogy! Anyway... We're talking about Arthur Christmas. Some believe it is a modern Christmas classic! What do these two hog obsessed clowns think? Tune in to find out. Tune in to also find out what I mean when I say they're hog obsessed... Enjoy!
