Dear listeners! We've missed you! We had to take a hiatus suddenly due to a family illness, but all is slowly getting back to normal. We're excited to be podding once again!

Hello…? You’ve reached the winter of our discontent. And we’d like to buy you all a coke. Just don’t steal any Snickers.
Get yer shoes on, Steve Zahn! It's movie soundtrack March, and we're so excited to talk about one of our favorites - Reality Bites! We get into: our favorite songs from the film, both on and off the official soundtrack; our shared appreciation for the wit of Janeane Garofalo; the social issues facing recent college grads during the mid-90s and how frighteningly little society seemed to care; some of the verbiage in the movie that we don't care for; Juliana's experience seeing Squeeze in concert; how we wish Vickie was real because we really want to hang out with her; and Ethan Hawke's original song - and his other singing credits we discovered along the way!
Grab a toothbrush, some toothpaste, a flannel for your face, and perhaps a nutrient-rich Big Gulp, and join us in this week's stroll down memory lane.

Welcome back! Valentine's Day is coming up soon, so we're taking a break from our usual format to discuss our favorite love songs of all time.
We go through our extensive lists of favorites to figure out what we think makes a great love song. Is it a well-placed sax solo? A slightly raunchy vibe? A particularly amazing music video that stuck with us? Expect a decent amount of songs from the 80s, Barry White picks from Juliana, and songs from movies that we still can't get enough of. One thing's for sure: Adam Sandler came up way more than either of us expected.

On the east coast we ride! Quite literally. Everything's gonna be all right now! On this episode, we get into Good Charlotte's self-titled album from 2000.
Discussion includes: the first time we saw Good Charlotte live (opening for MxPx); running into Benji after the show and the items he signed for us; the two songs on the album Meghan never listened to but Juliana did; we have fun in the Segment Zone with "Covers" - we have a few from The Beatles, The Beastie Boys, Billy Idol, Blur, Cheap Trick, and The Police that we think GC could pull off; in "Period Piece" Juliana finds a spot for the Madden brothers in Jane Austen novels, while Meghan can only think about notable twins in literature; and in our "Muppets" segment we determine their true muppet selves; and we wrap up with a few lyrics we think need an update.

Welcome back! This week, we piece together our misplaced memories of the time we saw MxPx in 2001 instead of studying for finals, and we get into their 2000 album, The Ever Passing Moment. Sorry this ep is a day late - don't hate us forever, we're better late than never!
Discussion includes: our memories of the last days of spring semester capped off by a great show from MxPx, Good Charlotte, and Ultimate Fakebook; the perfectly amazing cover song they opened with; "absolutely no moshing" = please mosh; in our "Covers" segment, we come up with some good ones from The Beatles, The Police, The Cure, and Billy Idol; and yet more delightfully ridiculous fun in our "Period Piece" and "Muppet" segments! If You Have To Ask, we had a blast going back to 1991 with our favorite Funky Monks!
Discussion includes: the bygone days of getting 12 albums for 1 penny; the Iggy Pop picture we used to confuse with Anthony Kiedis; thinking of your city as a family member; what do you call RHCP fans (we like "Funky Monks"); we gush over bass lines and the genius of Flea; and we lament our lack of RHCP concert-going experience and crave some fan stories! We conclude that RHCP are masters of bouncing around musical genres and we hope they're around for a long time.

Foo Fighters are pretty, Foo Fighters are good. We are x-static to be covering FF's 1995 debut album this week!
Discussion includes: we think Dave Grohl is the coolest, and even cooler because he played all the instruments on the recording of this album; we deep-dive into some of these lyrics, mainly because Meghan had 50% of the lyrics from this album wrong; the classic songs we want to hear FF cover; their 1999 tour with Red Hot Chili Peppers; Static-X and beard braids; we recall the death of an old friend (cargo pants); is Paul McCartney responsible for the origins of the screamo sub-genre; and there's some David Letterman talk, naturally.

Do all the people in the dance agree that we're well qualified to represent the LBC? Probably not, but we do love to dance to the rhythm, it gets harder. We're back after a much-needed Thanksgiving break to discuss Sublime's 1996 self-titled album.

About a month ago, we recorded a lovely episode about Blink's 1999 album "Enema of the State" only to witness the band going back to its original line-up before we released it. If there's anything we at Ye Olde Playlist love more than talking about our favorite bands, it's talking about them a second time.

Halloween is fast approaching, and what an appropriate time to drop an episode about one of our favorite spooky bands, Alkaline Trio! We talk about their 2001 album "From Here to Infirmary" and all it's sonic splendor.

Included in our discussion: is it ok to shorten Saves The Day to STD?; how Juliana has maintained an impeccable cd collection, while Meghan sold 99% of hers and now has to rely on the internet for everything; the bygone era of cd binders; Through Being Cool's very descriptive lyrics; the time we unexpectedly saw STD lead singer Chris Conley perform with Alkaline Trio; mix cds we made for each other; how Juliana is a lyrics person and Meghan is an instrument person; the Beatles' song that Meghan loved for years until she finally paid attention to the lyrics and was horrified; and how you need to be at least 21 years old to buy whipped cream.
