November is National Family caregivers Month and, for better or worse, The Front Room (2024) has quite a bit to say about caregiving (the title is a reference to a bedroom in the house reserved for an older loved one when they move in for additional care). While the film delves into harmful tropes, it also puts some aspects of caregiving that we don't often talk about in the spotlight and there's merit in discussing them.

Joe and Sharai are happy to see Jim still catching strays from the entire town, find new ways to hate Acosta, and are completely surprised by Elgin’s plans for Fatima.
Plus: We get excited about having to reopen our time travel theories we abandoned last season and speculate about what we think the two-part season finale has in store for this town.

Terry and Joe are back with their first Cronenberg title of the season and...it's not great.
Spider (2002) has an intriguing premise and a flawed execution. The scenes in the past are more successful, but Ralph Fiennes' contemporary bits are dull and often unconvincing.
Plus: double your Miranda Richardson, and why the twist doesn't work for us

It's fight night on FROM because everyone is at each other's throats and Sharai and Joe are *stressed*.
Plus: Fatima's baby drama takes a surprising turn, Tabitha's rocky retcon, counting the deaths (in how many days?!) and, oh yeah, a new one to cap things off. Baby baby baby!

Jenn, Gena, and Joe reach the end of HBO's adaptation of Gillian Flynn's Sharp Objects, which Joe isn't sure entirely works, in part because of Jean-Marc Vallée's infamous tendency to emphasize visuals over dialogue.
Plus: Camille's alcoholism, what Adora does and doesn't know, and Jenn's astute take on the men who read Camille's work

Terry and Joe return for Season 4 of Sexy & Surreal. It's a new century and David Lynch is trying another ABC series, but when it goes awry, we end up with Mulholland Drive (2001), a film that Terry doesn't entirely connect with.
Plus: abandoned television subplots, the Rita/Gilda comparisons, hot Justin Theroux in shapeless clothes, and high praise for the two leading ladies.

Let's get this town hall started! Joe and Sharai are excited that residents of Purgatory Town finally seem to be talking, even if a lot of folks are irrationally angry at Tabitha and Boyd.

For this episode, we’re covering 2024’s A Different Man. We'll chat a lot about how disability and others perceptions shape the way see ourselves, how disability is a part of our identity and the balances we strike with other aspects of who we are. Finally, we'll touch on the film’s depiction of neurofibromatosis and its experimental treatment.

For the final episode of Such Sights to Show, Bryan and Joe circle back to the origins of this "3 episode limited series" with a look at David Bruckner's 2022 remake of Hellraiser. How do they feel about the film now? What works and what doesn't?
Plus: reflections of what we learned from this two year project, our fave non-Hellraiser texts, and thoughts on what makes for a good Barker adaptation.

Sharai and Joe are back to lament that the latest episode of FROM is...a filler episode.
Sure there's some good character connections, but nothing meaningful as the show spins its wheels and teases more interesting things...like where that ambulance is headed!

For this episode, Nichole digs into both the 2022 and 2024 versions of Speak No Evil and specifically the character(s) of Abel/Ant - the young boy that we are told has congenital aglossia. How does lack of communication make him more vulnerable to abuse? Why doesn’t anyone ask more pointed questions about how to communicate with him? How do the ending of both films, especially where we leave the character, speak to how we value the lives of folks with disabilities?

Joe and Sharai spend an episode mourning FROM's most recent loss along with the characters. It's nice that the show takes the episode to grieve because we need it!
Plus: Kenny breaking our hearts, Jim's disenchanted children, Tabitha's drawn-out storyline with Victor's father, and Fatima's new diet (and our continued frustrations with this storyline)
