  • TTRPGs tend to be a social endeavour, so having spaces to be social and play games is incredibly important. Whether those spaces are online or in person, it can be difficult to curate a welcoming and successful space that not only survives but thrives. In this episode, we catch up with one of the founders of Pause Menu, a board game and TTRPG cafe in Melbourne. We talk about the process of opening the cafe, surviving COVID, Sasa’s love of the horror genre, and big plans for Pause Menu including an upcoming tourney-style game of The King’s Poisoner. We also play a Vox pop from 2024 with Lee Cope from the TTRPG Indies event and share news from Storybrewers Roleplaying. Enjoy!

The Forgotten Realms Wiki tries to cover basically everything about the popular Dungeons and Dragons setting created by Ed Greenwood. We sat down and chatted with chief scribe Brad aka BadCatMan about what it’s like to run such a massive wiki, how they create and edit new articles, ask him about the kinds of games he plays (mostly play-by-post), and so much more!

  • What happens at PAX Aus 2024? Both Kate and Stevie had the privilege of attending PAX this year and they did very different things. In this very special episode, Dan interviews Stevie and Kate about their PAX experiences. You’ll hear about what it was like to be on 7 panels, the joys of running a Meetup, surprise highlights and more. Interspersed in between the conversation are 3 Vox Pops recorded live on the PAX floor.

  • Kate headed down to Pixel Expo in Perth to catch up with some TTRPG creators. She had the privilege of being on the podcast stage and interviewed two TTRPG makers - Troy from Hit Dragons and Alyssa from Sphinx Stationery. These two makers dive into what got them into creating accessories for TTRPGs, how they found their niche, accessibility, neurodiversity and more. Plus, Kate hits the convention floor and grabs several Vox Pops. Now, the audio for this episode is a little rough on the account of it being recorded live at a con, but we hope that it gives you a really great window into the vibe at Pixel Expo.

In the news, we talk about a new one page RPG released by community member, Joie Yong, and an RPG game jam from another community member, Hugh Lashbrooke.

  • Have you ever wanted to write scenarios and adventures for TTRPGs? This week’s guest is silver ENNIE award winner Kat Clay to talk about writing Call of Cthulhu scenarios. We dive deep into her award winning scenario, The Well of All Fear, and learn about her process for writing and play testing. Kat shares tips on how to get started writing scenarios and much more. You will need to hear her controversial hot take on what the best snack is to have at the gaming table. We don’t judge people’s choices, but we’re warning you, this one had us taken aback. Scandalous.

  • Peek behind the curtain of how PAX Aus is organised as we get the juicy deets from the PAX Aus Content Manager Kitty. A lot goes into organising a convention as big as PAX. And all of the programming that you see outside of the main expo hall is her domain - that means all of the panels, live plays, cosplays, free play, TTRPG etc., are all under her domain. We, Kate and Stevie, get the goss on what it takes to organise all this, Kitty’s experience with tabletop, and tips for pitching panels and shows to be featured at PAX Aus.

In news, we give you more details about Tabletop things happening at PAX including the Queer TTRPG meetup, and remind you that Phenomenon Canberra is coming up soon too!
