Sir Arthur Charles Clarke co-wrote the screenplay for the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. He was also a science fiction writer, and a futurist of distinguished ability. He wrote many books and many essays for popular magazines, earning him the moniker "Prophet of the Space Age". He is a Hugo and Nebula award-winning author and is ranked among the top science fiction authors, along with which along with the likes of Robert Heinlein and Isaac Asimov.
