The growth of the Semicon industry is coinciding with the expansion of the server industry. In order to power the increased consumer demand on how much data we consume, means the fast development of new server farms being built around the world. But they require a lot of power to run and produce high levels of heat. In today’s episode we discuss the server industry and what this means for the future of data and the environment as well as the supply chain demands for this sector.

In order to meet the ever-changing demands of Semicon, the logistics industry too has had to modernise and develop at a rapid rate in order to offer the services needed for shipping Semicon products. Semiconductor fabrication plants rely on the constant supply of highly sensitive, often oversized manufacturing equipment and fabrication tools to keep their production lines running smoothly and efficiently. A late or damaged shipment of capital tools can severely disrupt a fab’s production schedule. In this episode we talk about the special elements within a Semicon supply chain, such as; speed of delivery, security, insurance, tracking and the specialist care needed when handling these high value goods. The Sub-fab – the part below the clean room, has a big influence on the quality of chip production and while it has always been highly regulated, requires meticulous planning and maintenance and adherence to health and safety standards and environmental standards, it's only now getting an upgrade.

Without more fabs and the right talent, the Semicon industry will fail to achieve the exponential growth ahead.
The industry faces many challenges as it begins to build new fabs in Europe and the US. And the statistics show too few STEM graduates will be available to fill the roles of professionals, currently in their 50s, who are due to retire.
In this episode, John Desmond and Lars Eger, discuss the issues most at stake including nearshoring, the EU chips act and the challenges within the Semiconductor industry in terms of a qualified work force and where to find them. -
The #Semiconductor industry is fast-growing, complex, and volatile. Managing its #supplychain and #logistics means juggling myriad challenges and keeping pace with constant change.
John Desmond and Tom Mulders, two of Kuehne+Nagel’s experts in the #Semiconductor supply chain work relentlessly with customers to troubleshoot issues and find solutions to their challenges. In Resilience in the Semicon Supply Chain, they discuss why a resilient supply chain is fundamental to the sector’s viability and what’s needed to achieve this. Oh …and they mention cakes quite a bit too!
Anyone who works in or around Semicon - or is just curious to know more - is invited to tune in.
