He sent us a 2h long DJ set divided into 2 parts:
1h with a lot of jazz/funk fused with breakbeat and trip-hop amongst the techy future-music. The second hour begins as he describes it : "with a particular favourite from Sasha’s ‘Airdrawndagger’ which queues me up to deliver a further hour of “standard fare” dancefloor tunes which I might want to play during an eg. 2300-0000 slot."

Dark Arps’ sound is a blend of broken beat and techno underpinned with dark, razor-sharp melodies, progressive hooks and tough basslines... futuristic, emotional and always danceable.

On this episode #127, Le Catalyste Standalone Series receives Mx.Tactful for a weird idm-braintech-electro set with lots of validated references with the regretted Mira Calix, and some other women that strongly marked the electronic music scene like Andrea Parker, K-hand, Ixindamix and Dasha Rush to name a few. This name dropping shall easily makes you imagine how vast is the eclecticism of this set and how strong will be the intensity of the journey!
Mx.Tactful is one of many to have come of age in the thick of UK rave culture. As she and her friends got sick of dodging police and bad pills, they retreated to the smokey clubs and bedroom studios that could still offer respite from post-thatcher chaos.
While some of her friends had found moderate success by the late '90s, Mx.Tactful's music stayed largely unheard. This all changed after a chance encounter in a welfare office led to the release of 'MARGIN MACHINEs' on Table Jelly Dishes; a new label from Lara David aka Chekov.
Table Jelly Dishes is a new home for hyperkinetic techno and punchdrunk pop, curated by Lara David off the back of releases on Peach Discs and Cong Burn.

Le Catalyste resumes with Manda Hu (@sublimephase) for episode #124.
This Israelian DJ was raised with European Techno, UK Jungle and Chicago/Detroit house music.
DJing in underground parties in his hometown of Beer Sheba and Israel's big city Tel Aviv. He started his own Techno label "Night and the City" in 2014 and ran it until 2018. During that period he collaborated with artists such as Robert Armani, K. Alexi Shelby, Brendon Moeller, Affie Yusuf and others.He released on the famous Techno imprint Labrynth and on Irregular Synth's label Dirty Minds.
These days David's newest work can be found on his Bandcamp page, and many tracks are about to be re-released in the coming months.
He has sent us a 2h set going from a slow motion broken very long ramp up to a dark & hard basement Techno set showing how vast is his love for electronic Music ! Enjoy!!

This week, Le Catalyste is happy to receive Kim Cosmik (@kimcosmik) for a rolling electro to Breaks and Drums set !
Kim Cosmik started as DJ Kosmik for festival sound systems Spiral Tribe and Bedlam, playing at festivals and clubs all over Europe.
She is currently a resident at Threads Radio, Techno Club, The Dodo Club, Xolo and her own event Hybrid which she launched in 2019 and she is leading her own label Cybersoul on Bandcamp.
She also release tracks on a variety of labels such as Studio Rockers, Crobot Music, Touched Music, Urban Distotions, and many more... and 2020 Vision Records later this year.
I'm trully happy to have her as her sets are always moving from one style to another, easily and smoothly, always closing with some Weird IDM, DnB or industrial tracks! Enjoy ! :)

The Standalone Series welcomes this week a seasoned DJ, Urko, (@urko-aka-redrum) also formerly known as REDRUM. This Lille resident was active on the local techno scene for a long time and toured Belgian clubs in the early 2ks, eventually residing in the renowned "The Kiosk" in Lille. With HI-tech Procedure and his friend Eric Fetcher, they also organized a lot of gigs.
After a few years of hiatus, this historian of the northern scene returns to the decks through @moicflo and Les Charades Electroniques, and now on the web-radio ECUnderground where he manages the podcast "Drink My Soul" in the company of your host and Fik.
Very eclectic, he re-explores all styles: electronica, sci-fi techno or the rougher sounds of Birmingham.
He gives us here a rather Dark Electro and rough breaks set which brings together some classics: REGIS, TENSAL or LUKE SLATER, and more felt tracks, from his last encounters and peregrinations with ADJ, VSK, Kim COSMIK, oake or ERRORBEAUTY.

Cette semaine, c'est la Parisienne @Substencia qui rejoint la liste des invités des Standalone Series. DJ et productrice dont le son se situe surtout dans l'univers techno bien industrielle, elle s'est pliée pour nous à un exercice de style, fouillant dans ses influences musicales de ces 20 dernières années.
Il en sort un set tantôt ambient-industriel, rythmique noise, tantôt broken-beat/idm, en passant bien évidemment par des classiques techno et pure industrielle.
Pour créer cette ambiance parfois cosmique et métallique, elle nous dit avoir "tenté d'harmoniser au mieux l’ensemble en choisissant des morceaux à la rythmique particulièrement dense et sophistiquée, tout en prenant soin de faire ressortir l’émotion des morceaux plus electronica comme ceux de Gescom, ou encore cette balade improbable et méconnue de Surgeon." Andy Jaggers is a DJ, Producer, Label owner (Pyramid Transmissions Record), Events and club runner, radio show presenter. He was also records shop Owner at IQ records in the 90's !!
As a DJ, he has played at many festivals and clubs from Moscow to Miami and last year saw another tour of the US with Silicon Scally, Ben Milstein, EVAC, Ion Driver and 214.
He also runs the Dodo Club and Frequency Resonate(with Errorbeauty) nights in London for the last 8 years.

Salenko is a musical activist, mushroom hunter, record hoarder, MoustacheMusic Radio host since 2012 and a globetrotter currently residing isolatedly in Belgium. He never really had the ambition to become a dj nor producer. He sees himself more as a connector between artists, labels and event hosts . He has been active behind the music scenes for many years.
MoustacheMusic Radio is his weekly playground, feeding his insatiable hunger for music across all borders of the electronic spectrum.
It has been the portal to quite some side jobs in music industry, going from editor for nightlife magazines, over talent scout for underground labels to stage management and artist hospitality for major Belgian Techno and Acid party concepts and summer festivals. Currently working on a new project. Under @Xntrick's (see Le Catalyste episode #87) supervision he'll run the Belgian crossover label @Bugklinik )
Expect a storytelling recording that slightly unfolds from ambient and experimental to an uptempo techno mix with a raw en lofi feel. The remarkable intro of this 'Pandemic mixtape' contains a 2014 speech that will open many people's eyes. It told us he must be an activist and he confirmed that the current global situation has been his source of inspiration.

This week, we have received a 2h IDM and electronica set from Ingo Zobel. This computer freak recently released music on the labels Touched Music, Touched Electronix, Furthur Electronix, Mighty Force, Moatun7, Intellitronic Bubble, Neotantra, Neo Ouija, Fantasy Enhancing as well as DIN and Carpe Sonum.
He started Djing in the late eighties. Between 1996 and 1998 he organised underground parties with some close friends, were he played IDM, Braindance, Electro, Breakbeat, Acid House and Techno.
In 1997 he founded the band "Drøn" with his friends Christoph Abert and Frederik Dahlke, which is his main music project since then, and is all about electronica and ambient. He also releases solo under the name Self Oscillate.
He is also a vinyl addict and like to discuss a lot of his music taste and new releases, and this set shares some of his findings! Enjoy!

This week guest is Florence Meuleman. Known for her large implication in the Europe electronic music scene, as Programmer, Event planner and Community manager. It is alongside the music blog IDM News, she decided to bring together some of her favorite picks from 2019 in electronic music and provides us a 2 hour podcast. The mix have been done by Mike Griffin & Steve Brown, in a B to B recordset, with her vocal added as a radio-show.
The show artfully blends an eclectic mix of 32 artists, on a total of 126 videos selected in a playslist and promoted in the IDM News community this last amazing 2019.

This week, we move South to Argentina, with UMA soundsystem (@umasoundsystem) from Villa Lugano, a neighborhood in the city of Buenos Aires. This techno lover was raised with albums from Underworld, Kraftwerk and The Chemical Brothers before he moved to techno inspired by Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Zadig, Oscar Mulero, Cleric, among others, motivated to enter the Dj Nation.
He is also producer, and a very good producer !!
And I can warmly recommand the "Mision Romaniuk Ep" he just released on Greek imprint "Nomad Species" ! (@nomadspecies) (last track of the set)
he also made releases on Apical Records, Polygon & Trigonometryk, and more, is involved into local scene development and organize events as part of the NUCLEO crew.
His set is simple, sweet and bumpy! I really enjoyed listening to, with my foot always wanting to move and tap the tempo !

This week is a live IDM session provided by French Artist ARCO5 (@arco5).
As many of IDM/electronica Artists, he was really active and touring a lot in the early 2K's, through various IDM/electronica/experimental events.
He also released a very nice Album on Arbouse Recordings, with other artists like Sink, Inlandsis, melodium, Audioroom... Since then, he continued releasing on his bandcamp, and I'm really happy to have him on Le Catalyste as his work merit some more exposure!

This Vinyl addict, Bavaria based producer is leading his alter ego Snübrovc.Urschk of fucked up Punk Electronic music and design lovers. He is also known as Fred 500 or Hackepeter United. He manages Abseits Recordings together with his friend Dreibot and is graphic designer at "Fümpfhundat".
His set is really bumpin' in your face with some vinyl DJ tricks well placed and a very good sense in combining various styles of darkness from dark techno of Cristian Vogel, through the breakbeat from buckfunk 3000 and closing with dark I-F electro!
