When making disciples in community, a common strategy question arises: should we have a Missional Community that is only neighborhood-based, or should we start a Missional Community that's relationally network-based?In this episode, Caesar lays out the advantages and disadvantages of both neighborhood and networked-based approaches to community building. And the importance of creating organized and organic rhythms whichever way you end up going. In This Episode You’ll Learn: Why proximity is gold when living on mission together. The importance of understanding your proactive and reactive mission. The benefits and challenges that both approaches present. Loads of real-world examples on how all of this works.
Get started here…From this episode:“If your Missional Community is made up of people that are coming from different parts of town, and for whatever reason have formed a community on mission, you can still succeed. You're going to have to be a LOT more intentional about how you plan your times and activities together and know that it could start to feel event-based if you're not careful." Do apostles still walk among us today? Are there people God sends to proclaim the Good News to the lost and broken, sparking new movements and bringing his Kingdom to life here on Earth? In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, Caesar talks with his close friend, author, and modern apostle, Hugh Halter. Hugh’s story of starting fresh in a new city will inspire you to see that God is still actively building His Kingdom—and maybe He's inviting you to be part of it, too!In This Episode You’ll Learn: Why Hugh chose to uproot his family from comfort and move to a broken, struggling community. The key difference between “planting a church” and “planting the gospel.” How a network of small, micro-communities focused on blessing others is transforming a Midwestern city. Powerful lessons on trusting God when his call feels overwhelming.
Get started here...From this episode:“I tell people there is nothing that you can do that would make it easier to ‘gospel a city’ than to actually do what the city needs done. Instead of planning a church service, start a business. Meet the needs of a city and its people. It’s just been an amazing story of personal movement and spiritual movement with people.” ~ Hugh Halter Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started.Download today’s BIG 3 right now. The idea that 'Gospel, Community and Mission' is crucial to making mature disciples of Jesus may sound a little bit obvious to you at first. But it is surprising how few of us, and our churches, are careful to balance the focus and engagement of these powerful discipleship foundations. This week on the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we talk about why all three of these components must be consistently engaged in and balanced if we want disciples of Jesus to grow to full maturity. In This Episode You’ll Learn: Why we are seeing a lack of maturity in the Church today among Christians. How all 3... Gospel, Community, and Mission play a critical role in disciple-making. What it looks like when you only engage 2 of these 3 foundations with others. Practical resources for growing your people in Gospel, Community, and Mission.
Get started here…From this episode:"It is when we are out on God’s mission together, interacting with and serving others that are not exactly like us… or don’t always agree with us or appreciate our lives and perspective... that’s when our own unbelief, selfishness, personal preferences etc. all surface… and can then have the gospel applied to those areas of our lives. Get started here…From this episode:"As parents, we want to transmit a value system to our children. For most of us, the idea of our kids switching from blue to red, or vice versa, is pretty scary and maybe unacceptable. What happens when you feel God leading you, beyond a weekly meeting with a handful of other Christians, out to make disciples in the most underserved neighborhood in your city?In this episode, Caesar is joined by author and community builder Terence Schilstra. You'll hear the exciting story of how his traditional church small group slowly morphed into a missional community. Along with several other Christian families, they've become connected to over 30 families in their new neighborhood as they make disciples. In This Episode You’ll Learn: How a "small voice" became a much louder calling from God. What personal challenges they faced to follow God deeper. The problems their small group experienced. (Not everyone loved the change!) The amazing adventure that this community now lives!
Get started here…From this episode:“Our calling to make disciples among a specific group of people requires us to be present with them. Just like Jesus came to us as a human, and took on the rhythms and customs of the people he was with, so must we give our lives, not just our programs, to that God calls us to. Church doctrines of grace and salvation can sometimes hinder us from fostering the expectation that we should be and make disciples. Do our current evangelism and discipleship models fall short of producing genuine followers of Jesus? This week on the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we explore the importance of reclaiming a strong understanding of the gospel and the vital link between conversion and discipleship. Joining us is Bill Hull, a "discipleship evangelist" (a term I adore!) and author of several bestselling discipleship classics. In This Episode You’ll Learn: A historical definition of “conversion” that you’ll find clarifying. Why conversion and discipleship are two sides of the same coin. The problems the Church experiences having split (or ignored) these two functions. Why having a bigger view of the gospel is the solution to this problem.
Get started here...From this episode:“You’ll never make a disciple from a non-discipleship gospel. He proves this over and over as the Story that unfolds really does repeat itself from a zillion angles. Leadership within the Church is much more than just getting tasks and jobs done. Biblical leadership does get things done and serve the Family, but effectiveness as a leader is more about character, the condition of the heart, and a growing ability to speak and model the Gospel in all of life.In this episode, Caesar gives you 5 ongoing essentials that every missional church leader needs in their life. Unfortunately, almost no one was trained for the type of leadership that missional communities require. Let's be the ones that change that!In This Episode You’ll Learn: Why the commitment to developing leaders attracts great leaders. What to do if YOU are not getting these 5 essentials as a leader. The importance of every leader having an apprentice. What happens if you're missing this type of care.
Get started here…From this episode:"Treating people like “stop gaps” to our problems in an area of ministry only reinforces a DO=BE mentality and ultimately demoralizes people. Seeing and treating your leaders as divine Image-bearers and like members of your family puts you both in a humble position to receive the ongoing grace that our heavenly Father offers–regardless of our performance or less-than-perfect leadership record."Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started.Download today’s BIG 3 right now.
