  • DESIGN YOUR FAMILY'S UNIQUE HOMESCHOOL THAT YOU'LL LOVE! https://littlebylittlehomeschool.com/blueprint

Homeschooling is about way more than school academics. It's creating a relationship that welcomes open dialogue and discussion about anything and everything.

One of those topics should be our bodies and how we can take care of them well. And that includes our pelvic floor.

Today's guest is Jenn Lormand of Tighten Your Tinkler and we are specifically focusing on sharing all about pelvic floor health with your daughter.

Many of us weren't taught about this and had to quickly learn after a health crisis or bothersome symptoms. Our goal in this episode is to equip you with some actionable information so that you can begin to teach your daughter how to be proactive in her health.

As we mention in the beginning of this episode, it is rated G, but you may want to listen with ear buds or when your children aren't around so that you may gather information and dispense it as is appropriate for your family.

I promise that I'm not adding "one more thing" to your to-do list. But, the summer typically means a bit of a break from academics for homeschool families.

The curriculum is great, but if you child is not prepared for the world when they step out on their own, they'll have a lot of catching up to do, no matter what level of math they achieved, the science experiments you did, or the classic books they've read. Don't get me wrong, those things are fine. But, there is more to life than book knowledge.

There is real life where they'll need to know how to interact, get along with, and function well with others, if for no other reason than for their Christian witness.

I'm hoping you have a little more brain space with your usual routine set aside for the summer to focus on teaching and growing soft skills in your homeschooler of any age. I've got a lot of ideas for you...pick 1 or 2 that seem the most important and see how you can be intentional this summer!

Opinions can vary greatly and the debate can get heated amongst parents when it comes to organized sports. And then let's throw in the homeschool element and the lines can be drawn.

No matter where you fall on the spectrum, I think we can all agree that homeschool families should be intentional about how they spend their time. We already do that when choosing curriculum, so why not with extra-curricular activities such as sports?

Let's have a friendly conversation about it and weigh the pros and cons so you can make a decision that aligns best with your family. And then, give grace for others to make their own intentional decision.

You'll want to grab a pen and paper to jot down some important questions to consider!

    Ah, the age-old socialization question...

No matter where you homeschool or how long you've been doing it, you will be asked about socializing your children. We often roll our eyes and bite our tongues.

But, as a homeschool parent, you may have a legitimate concern about your child being stigmatized as a weird homeschooler.

We're taking a fun poke at socialization and weirdness in today's episode. I hope you have fun with it too, but also walk away with some solid tips about this topic.

Academics is often what brings many families to homeschooling. But then, we realize that so much else is important in our parenting and the home education years.

One topic that keeps coming up lately, even in conversations with my grown children, is the balance between rules and relationship with parents and children. And we can easily default to focusing on one over the other.

But, in raising our children and reading tons of books, along with the guidance in Scripture, James and I have worked hard to find that balance.

Today's episode scratches the surface of this topic and I hope that it is an encouragement for you to lean in to where God is calling you to make adjustments in parenting your homeschool children.
