    Deborah Cobb has been practicing bodywork for over 20 years, and she has always had a passion for health and wellness and recently became an Integrative Health Practitioner. Her passion and focus is on Nervous System Regulation and helping her clients feel safe in their body again.

    A well-regulated nervous system allows you to respond calmly to stress and return to a relaxed state easily. expand more When dysregulated, it can lead to anxiety, trouble sleeping, and difficulty focusing.

    The autonomic nervous system (ANS): This part of the nervous system controls involuntary functions like heart rate, digestion, and breathing.

    Sympathetic nervous system (fight-or-flight): This kicks in during stressful situations, increasing heart rate, blood pressure, and preparing the body for action. Parasympathetic nervous system (rest-and-digest): This promotes relaxation, lowers heart rate, and helps the body conserve energy.

    Mechanisms: Simple practices like deep breathing, grounding techniques using the five senses, and awareness of body sensations can be helpful for managing anxiety. Self-awareness and neuroplasticity: Understanding your personal triggers and nervous system is important. The brain's neuroplasticity allows you to learn and adapt to change your wellness journey.

    Stress and gut health: Chronic stress can impact digestion, nutrient absorption, and weight gain. Regulating the nervous system can improve gut health.

    Breathing and alternative therapies: Correct breathing, yoga, and cranial sacral therapy (though viewed with skepticism by some) can be helpful for relaxation and well-being.

    What works for one person may not work for another. That’s why it’s essential to embrace your individuality and explore what truly works for you. Here are three tips to help you navigate your healing journey based on the concept of bio-individuality:

    1. Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to how different foods, exercises, and lifestyle habits make you feel. Your body communicates with you through signals such as energy levels, digestion, mood, and sleep quality. If something doesn’t feel right or doesn’t resonate with you, it’s okay to explore other options.

    Lisa Roers, from the Sunshine Café Podcast is a Certi􀋡ed Coach, Podcaster, Enterprise Agile Coach/Program Manager, a Bible enthusiast, disciple of Jesus, a wife, a mom, and a professional musician. Lisa sings with Sweetwater Revival Gospel Quartet (SweetwaterRevival.com), which is blessed to be played in more than 120 countries and has been nominated for the 2023 Female Group of the Year. Lisa also has 2 solo projects CDs of her own in the genres of Easy Listening & Contemporary Christian. Graduating from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Business Management, Communications, and International Business, she went on to work in business development for more than a decade before shifting her focus to executive coaching and team development. In the background, her personal joys included composing and performing music from her solo CD of Christian Contemporary music.

    But her passions shifted once again when she was hit unexpectedly by an abrupt onset of an autoimmune disease in 2017. Her symptoms escalated over the next 3 years to the point where she was unable to walk! After a litany of doctor appointments (more than 30!) including 3 days at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN, and a disappointing lack of a concrete diagnosis or a clear path for healing, Lisa leaned into her relationship with God and embraced being her own advocate for regaining complete health. The journey has been slow and even messy at times, with many mistakes and experiments along the way. However, cracking our personal code to complete health is worth it! Our health is our wealth! And so coaching and mentoring has become Lisa’s passion and mission, helping others on their journey to complete health – including healthy mind, emotions, relationships, physical health and spiritual fullness.

    As of the writing of this (Oct 2023), Lisa is completely symptom-free and on her way to feeling the best she has her whole life!
