Sarah started on her nudism journey about a year ago as a way to regain her body autonomy. She was introduced to nudism by a friend and spent the better part of the last year researching nudism to see if it was something she wanted to try. She eventually decided to book her first trip to a nudist resort based upon what she had learned through her research and chose Oaklake Trails because, after listening to our podcast, she felt that Oaklake Trails was the right place to give social nudism a try. This episode was recorded on her very first visit.

Gary and Brenda are long time nudists and are two ofthe founding members of Oaklake Trails Naturist Park.
In this episode you will hear about their entrance into Nudism starting in the early 1970's and how they became founding members of Oaklake Trails. They share the humble beginnings of Oaklake Trails, the growth and prosperity that hard work and dedication has brought about and some insight about handling the challenges faced by Nudists and clubs moving forward.
Gary and Brenda could easily be described as modern day Nudist Pioneers. They are the last of the original founding members of Oaklake Trails. They didn't do it alone, but their vision, dedication, and literal blood sweat and tears laid the foundation that so many amazing and dedicated members and shareholders after them have used to build what we like to refer to as our "HappyPlace".
Thousands of people have experienced the freedom andbenefits of nude recreation at Oaklake Trails because they, along with the other founding members, took a giant leap of faith and created a little slice of heaven on earth.
Over the last 5 decades they have served, and continueto serve, on several AANR committees and boards. Our friendship with them is another example of how nudism bridges the generation gap and allows friendships to blossom that otherwise might not happen.
We hope you enjoy our conversation with Gary andBrenda.

In this episode we interview Amy Pence-Brown. She is NOT a nudist or Naturist but she does not shy away from nudity as a tool for self love and empowerment. Amy is a fat feminist mother in conservative rural America who believes in opening her mouth and her heart. From both of these places she tells stories – as a writer and poet on her blog and other local and national publications, as a historian and adjunct faculty speaking and teaching, and as a visual artist creating subversive stitchings and performance pieces. She’s been a body image activist for the past 13 years and became internationally known for her radical stand for self-love at the Capital City Public Market in Boise, Idaho in 2015, which was documented in a blog post, photographs and a video which cumulative iterations have been viewed over 200 million times. Her message about the value of all bodies, no matter their size, has been covered by numerous media outlets, including CNN, USA Today, Cosmopolitan, People, TODAY, Huffington Post, Upworthy, HLN, the Dr. Oz show, SHAPE, xo Jane, TIME and Fitness magazine. She continues to lead the body positive revolution through public speaking and education, including on the TEDx stage, to students young and old, and the Boise Rad Fat Collective, a radical group of 3,700 people of all ages, sizes, colors, genders and nationalities. She is the creator of a renowned plus-sized pinup series called Reviving Hilda, co-curator of indie art, craft and vintage shows Wintry & Summery Markets and Idaho Vintage Market and was twice named one of the 50 Idaho Women of the Year. She leads RADCAMP: A Body Positive Boot Camp for women and teens and Be RAD! Be YOU! A Body Image Workshop for Girls aged 10-12.Episode Links

It all starts with that first step. Everybody who participates in Nudism/Naturism comes to it from a unique perspective. In this episode we dive deep into the journey to Body Acceptance through nudism and non sexual nude recreation taken by Nisey and Bill. Their stories are real and relatable. Though they have sad and traumatic experiences to share, they both grew from these experiences and have come to model their motto "Love the Skin You are In!". In this second of two episodes titled "Our Journey Begins" Nisey shares some very intimate details of her life and how learning to "Love the Skin You're In" has given her strength, self assurance, a positive body image and helped her regain her body autonomy.Content advisory: This episode contains discussions of suicidal ideations, verbal, emotional and sexual abuse. The language may be harsh at times but is not used for shock value but to truly convey the emotions felt by the hosts. The hosts feel that by sharing these experiences, others who have had similar experiences can relate and possibly find a path to reclaiming their self esteem, body autonomy and peace of mind.
