We experience life through vibrations. Music has been a vital part of our evolution since the Paleolithic era and is an integral part of our history. Music can bring people together, encourage social, political, economic, or environmental change, facilitate healing, and illuminate human transcendence through peace and solidarity. In other words, music can connect with the human psyche in ways that, when practiced with focused intention, have the potential to treat entire communities that have undergone transgenerational trauma at the assault of colonialism and Capitalism...Support the Show.

This week, we chat with Pamela Scully, a Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies historian, Professor of African Studies, and Advisor to the Provost at Emory University. She has her Ph.D. in history from the University of Michigan. We pick Dr. Scully's brain for her expertise in historical and political sexual violence, using Immortal Technique's devastating song "Dance with the Devil" as the catalyst for this conversation.

Christian nationalism has become a buzzword among conservative activists such as Congresswomen Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and conservative activist Charlie Kirk. We believe we need to call it what it is: Christian Fascism. For this episode, we had a great conversation with Andrew Griffin and Glen McDaniel, two musicians of faith who are continuously deconstructing the phenomena of White Christian Culture, how it affects our society, and how we may confront this socially learned sickness.
Christian nationalists believe the United States is meant to be a Christian nation and seek to "reclaim" the nation for God. Support for right-wing politicians and social issues, such as immigration, gun, and poverty legislation, is better understood as Christian nationalism rather than evangelicalism per se.
Christian nationalism's fundamental tenets can be summarized as follows:
The federal government should declare the United States a Christian nation. The federal government should advocate Christian values. The federal government should not enforce the strict separation of church and state. The federal government should allow religious symbols in public spaces. The success of the United States is part of God's plan. The federal government should allow prayer in public schools.Andrew Griffin: https://www.andrewgriffinmusic.com/Simply Three: https://simplythreemusic.com/Richard Rohr: https://cac.org/about/our-teachers/richard-rohr/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_RohrAfrican Origins of Christianity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KP73uEFASQgJabari Osaze: https://www.instagram.com/jabariosaze/Labinth - Jealous: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXD52y9jsOUWhite Christian Nationalism: The Deep Story Behind the Capitol Insurrection: https://berkleycenter.georgetown.edu/responses/white-christian-nationalism-the-deep-story-behind-the-capitol-insurrectionhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_nationalismhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_fascismhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_rightSupport the Show.

A Cincinnati police officer has had her police powers suspended after her body camera caught her saying a racial slur while stuck in traffic on duty in April. Officer Valentino believed she had been desensitized by music and hearing people talk on the street. Constant exposure has allowed this slur to slip into Officer Valentino's vernacular.
