This week Nicola and Di chat with nutritionist and best-selling author Michele Chevalley Hedge. Michele is also an international speaker, and a highly commended nutritional medicine practitioner. As a former Microsoft executive, she truly understands the needs of time-poor corporate executives who want health but not hassle. She is committed to helping people feel energised, balanced and empowered without giving up life’s pleasures - and we like the sound of that!
In this conversation, we talk about energy and simple things that people can do if they’re feeling burnt out. Michele has a beautifully holistic approach, and looks at all of the aspects of someone’s life, not just what they’re eating. Michele tells us why sleep is the ultimate pillar of wellbeing, and gives us ways you can increase your magnesium levels so you get a better night’s sleep.
We also talk about gut health and the fascinating link between your gut and your mental health. Michele lets us know about an amazing Deakin University study, which proves the link between eating whole foods and improved mental health.
Michele tells us what to look out for when it comes to the food we’re eating - how to avoid added sugars and the importance of getting good protein, fats and carbs in all our meals.
We also have a really interesting chat about midlife - the way that both men and women are affected by hormonal changes in that time. Michele wants to rebrand it from a midlife crisis to a midlife lift because of how great this time of your life can be!
This was such a helpful and interesting conversation about how we can make healthier choices and focus on our wellbeing, which is our most important resource. Michele encourages everyone to take small steps, because small changes over time can lead to incredible progress.
We had such a wonderful time with Michele in the studio and we hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did.

This week Nicola and Di chat with the remarkable Sam Bloom. Sam’s a mum of 3, who lived a very full and active life until a devastating accident in Thailand left her paralysed. In the midst of rebuilding, along came Penguin, the little magpie who helped her heal. Their story became a best-selling book, captured by her photographer husband Cam, and later turned into a global hit film, Penguin Bloom. Now a world-champion para-kayaker, surfer and a passionate advocate, Sam is testament to the inner strength that each of us can find when faced with adversity.
In this conversation, we hear about that fateful day in Thailand, when in the blink of an eye, Sam’s life changed forever when she fell through a rotten balcony railing and crashed six metres onto the concrete below. Sam shares just how awful that experience was, including the moment when she was told she would never walk again, and she thought that her life was over.
Sam opens up about how much guilt she felt as a mother who could no longer look after her 3 boys in the way that she used to. The simple things she wasn’t able to do for them, and how much she hated the way the tables had turned and her boys needed to look after her.
We also hear about the incredible moments of support and acts of kindness from her family and those around her, that gave her a renewed sense of purpose and allowed her to find hope again through competitive para-kayaking. Sam went on to compete in competitions around the world, and was also encouraged to get back into surfing, and went on to win Gold for Australia in the 2018, 2020 and 2023 World Para Surfing Championships.
And of course we talk about the beautiful story of a little magpie named Penguin, who also played a big part in Sam’s healing. Sam shares how what started as an Instagram account, went onto become a best-selling book and then a film with Naomi Watts.
This is such a beautiful and honest conversation about the importance of community, resilience, and the healing power of laughter and purpose. We were so honoured to have this chat with Sam and we hope you love it as much as we did.

This week Nicola and Di chat with 2 incredibly inspiring women, Nici Andronicus and Tania Taylor-Frost, whose stories will give you a huge boost. Both of these women do incredible work for the charity Be Centre, which changes the lives of children through play therapy. Nici is a former elite athlete, who represented Australia in triathlon and modern pentathlon. She competed in 10 world championships and over 90 international events, becoming world no. 2 in 1997 and a three-time national triathlon champion. Not only that, Nici is a mother of 5, and does a lot of incredible work for different charities. Tania is the CEO of the Be Centre, helping children navigate trauma and big emotions through play therapy and early support. She’s also the director of the Sydney Skinny, a passionate force for children’s mental health and a fierce advocate for early intervention. Tania is also a proud mum of 2.
In this conversation you’ll hear Nici’s powerful story of what it was like when her husband was diagnosed with brain cancer when she was 20 weeks pregnant with their 5th child. Nici was able to draw on the incredible resilience and strong mindset that she developed in her career as an elite athlete, to help her get through what was arguably the biggest challenge of her life.
Nici shares openly and vulnerably about what it was like for her family, and how her youngest child was deeply affected and needed the support of the Be Centre to be able to process the trauma and difficult emotions that he was going through.
We also hear Tania’s story, and how she originally met Nicola during a hiking trip with Wild Women On Top, where they were supposed to share a tent - you’ll have to listen in to hear what actually happened. She shares about why she was motivated to switch from working in tech for corporates and government to working for charities, and what it’s like for her now in her role as CEO for the Be Centre.
When you listen to the passion that these 2 women have for making a positive difference in the world and the way they talk about giving as a gift to self, we guarantee you’ll feel inspired like we did.
If you want to give back in a really fun way, we’d love you to consider attending the Be Centre Annual Charity Gala, on Friday May 30th. Tickets are $280 and all proceeds help families and children who otherwise could not access therapy due to financial hardship.

This week Nicola and Di are excited to bring you the first episode of our new financial series, Over The Money Fence with Roger Montgomery. This series aims to help you take control of your finances with clarity and confidence. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by investing, unsure about what’s happening in the markets, or you just want to make a smarter decision with your money then you are in the right place. We will be joined each month by financial expert Roger Montgomery, who you may remember from our 100th episode. Roger is the Founder and Chairman of Montgomery Investment Management, has over 30 years’ investing experience and a highly respected financial commentator featuring on various ABC programs, as well as his popular column in The Australian newspaper. He is also the author of best-selling investment guidebook Value.able.
In this conversation we chat about a really important topic - where should you invest when markets feel wild and you feel scared? Roger gives us such reassuring and calming advice about what we need to pay attention to, what we can tune out, and why it’s important to take your time when it comes to making financial decisions.
He is able to explain the share market in a way that’s not only understandable, but interesting and talks to us about the difference between speculating and investing. We also talk about other ways of investing that aren’t as volatile as the share market, including private credit, gold and term deposits. Roger gives us a brief overview of the pros and cons of each of these investments, and why you might choose one over the other.
We also have a meaningful chat about what’s really important in life, and that true value lies in the relationships we have with the people we love.
We learnt so much from Roger in this episode, and more importantly we already feel more calm and confident when it comes to our finances. Roger also set some homework for us all this month - get all of your investments down on paper, make sure you know where all your money is, and find out what return they’ve been generating for you.
Stay tuned until the end of the episode to hear Di, Nicola and their producer Sam chat about what impacted them from this conversation - believe it or not, there are tears already.

This week Nicola and Di chat with the fascinating Feng Shui expert, Kelly McCloskey. Kelly has been transforming her client’s spaces and lives for the past decade and helps them to create environments of love, growth, financial abundance and wellbeing. She is one of only a handful of individuals in Australia who has trained under masters of San Yuen Yuen Gua Feng Shui, a method that can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty.
In this conversation, we hear all about the fascinating world of Feng Shui, which is essentially the energy of a house or space. Kelly explains about the 9 different sectors of Feng Shui, which everyone has in their homes and how to find out what they are so you can get the most out of the space you’re in.
Kelly gives us great tips on some of the simple things we can do in our homes to make sure we have good energy (chi) flowing through our space and are attracting the things we want in life. You’ll have to tune in to hear those.
She tells us how powerful artwork can be in the home, and the incredible story of how she has manifested everything that’s ever been on the wall behind her bedhead. Di also shares her own amazing story of how she was told to take down paintings of single women in her home, because it was blocking the energy of love, and shortly after, she met a man.
We had so much fun chatting with Kelly. There was good energy all round in the studio that day and we hope you can feel the good vibes as you listen.

This week Nicola and Di celebrate their 100th episode!! To mark this special occasion, Nicola and Di chat with the successful and relatable Roger Montgomery. Roger is the Founder and Chairman of Montgomery Investment Management, has over 30 years’ investing experience and a highly respected financial commentator featuring on various ABC programs, as well as his popular column in The Australian newspaper. He is also the author of best-selling investment guidebook Value.able.
We really wanted to have Roger on our podcast because he has a gift for making investing andfinances so easy to understand, and he keeps things relevant and fun. He is full of wise advice and has even been described as the Warren Buffet of Australia. Roger is also a family man, with a beautiful wife and 3 children, who we get to hear more about in this interview.
In this conversation Roger helps us understand how we can become more aware of our attitude towards money and how it forms when we’re really young. He shares with us a great little test you can do with your kids, which will give you a good idea of whether they’ll be a good saver when it comes to money, or whether they’ll spend it.
Roger chats to us about the money challenges that women in their 50s and over are facing, with divorce rates going up and many women being faced with a situation they weren’t expecting, and having to learn how to navigate their financial future, which can feel a bit daunting at times. We talk about why it’s so important to learn more about managing your money, slow down rather than being rushed into a financial decision, surround yourself with people you trust, and be more empowered when it comes to your money.
We also get to hear a little bit of Roger’s personal story, the jobs he had as a kid and the values his mum instilled in him at an early age. Roger shares the beautiful story of how he met his wife on the ferry when he was 27, and they’ve now been married for 26 years.
Di brings up her fear of the stock market, and Roger gives her some great, calming advice. The good news is, this is the very beginning of our conversations with Roger, who is going to teach us everything we need to know about finance and help break down some of the fears we might have when it comes to money or investing. We are thrilled to announce we will be doing a monthly series with Roger called Over the Money Fence, which is going to help us all feel more confident about managing our money.
Happy 100th episode! We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did and we want to say a huge THANK YOU to all our listeners who have been with us from the beginning, and to those who have joined along the way. We could not do this without you.

She is also the author of a brand new book, Living a Life of Greatness - steps to a fulfilling existence, and loving mum to her 2 kids.

This led to Sarah starting her own podcast, A Life of Greatness, which has become super successful with Sarah interviewing hundreds of amazing people who are dedicated to carving out lives of greatness.
We have so much fun chatting to Sarah about some of the incredible people she’s interviewed including Dr. Joe Dispenza, Johann Hari, Dr. Andrew Huberman and Sarah’s personal favourite - you’ll have to tune in to hear who that was!

This week Nicola and Di chat with the extraordinary Layne Beachley AO. Layne is widely regarded as the most successful female surfer in history. She is the only surfer, male or female, to claim six consecutive world titles, and she then went on to win a 7th world title in 2006 before retiring from the World Tour in 2008. Since retiring, Layne is a highly sought after speaker and is the co-author of a new book Awake Academy: Know yourself, grow yourself to live a happier, more purposeful life, which she wrote with Tess Brouwer. Layne and Tess’ book, as well as their online courses and events, give people life-changing tips and tools to turn ideas and intentions into actions, so they can become the champions of their life.
This is a really powerful episode where Layne opens up about her personal challenges and the adversity she’s had to overcome since the very early days. Layne shares all about her childhood, being adopted at birth, and then losing her mum at the age of 7 when a cosmetic surgery went horribly wrong. A year after her mum died, the local kids were starting to ask questions about why Layne looked so different from the rest of her family, and so her dad sat her down at 8 and told her she was adopted.
Layne talks about how learning that she was adopted shattered her sense of self, and in that moment, at the age of 8, she decided that the only way she would be loveable was if she became a world champion at something.
This was the fuel that propelled Layne to become the most successful surfer in history, but Layne talks about the moment a friend opened her eyes to what was really driving her, and how whilst she was externally successful, it was an unhealthy and unsustainable success that was driven by an inner fear and lack of worthiness.
We talk about the inner work that Layne had to do to overcome her fears and recognise her innate worth, and the practices and tools she now lives by to be healthy, happy, purposeful and have sustainable success.
This is such a powerful and deep chat, but it is also FULL of laughter and light. Layne is an absolute joy and this conversation had the perfect mix of everything - you get to ride the waves of Layne’s life with us. We hope you enjoy it!

Rachel really needs no introduction - having starred in so many award-winning films and TV shows, including Brothers & Sisters, Six Feet Under, Anyone But You, Hilary and Jackie, My Best Friend’s Wedding and the iconic Muriel’s Wedding, she is quite simply Australian acting royalty. Her talent has been recognised with countless awards including 2 Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Golden Globe award, a further 3 Golden Globe nominations, 4 Emmy nominations and an Academy Award nomination for her role in Hilary and Jackie. She’s also a writer, producer and director, the wife of painter Andy Taylor and in her own words, an imperfect mother of 3.
In this episode we hear about Rachel being born in Newcastle, growing up in Melbourne, but how a day trip to Sydney’s Palm Beach in the 90s, led to her falling in love with the landscape and buying a house that day - making her one of our neighbours.
We chat to Rachel about the early days of her career - what it was like starring in huge films like Muriel’s Wedding and My Best Friend’s Wedding, her intense 10 year studio contract in the US, and what it was that made Rachel choose to move back to Australia with her family. Rachel gives us insight into how much the industry has changed over the last 30 years and the differences between movie stars of the 90s and the younger generation of actors today.
We also talk all about her new TV series, Madam, which is based on the true story of a woman who decides to set up an ethical brothel in New Zealand. We get into a really interesting discussion about the sex work industry, the economics of it and how it is so closely connected to the loneliness epidemic.
Rachel also opens up to us about her kids, what she believes makes her marriage work, and why she thinks Esther Perel is amazing.
This was one of those conversations where it felt like we were all girlfriends having a chat and we laughed so hard, that Rachel’s watch thought she’d been doing a HIIT workout! We hope you find it as much fun as we did.

This week Nicola and Di chat with the dynamic Pete Simson. He’s an entrepreneur, a farmer, a philanthropist, the co-founder of RedBalloon and a loving father to his 2 children. Pete is also a single man in his 60s, navigating the world of online dating and we wanted to get his thoughts and insights into what this has been like for him as well as any tips he might have for our listeners.
Pete shares with us some of the highs and lows of online dating including some funny stories of dates that went wrong. He also shares the different lessons he’s learned, the psychological principles that help him to notice red flags, such as attachment styles, and the things he’s on the lookout for when it comes to dating profiles and meeting up with a potential match.
In this episode, you’ll also get to hear more of Pete’s story - growing up on a farm in rural Victoria, and the fateful day he got home from school as a 10 year old and saw that his family home had burnt down. There are tears in the studio as Pete recounts that day, and shares stories from his childhood.
We talk about his entrepreneurship as the co-founder of RedBalloon, the company he built in 2001 with his wife at the time, and how they were ahead of their time as an online gifting experience company. And we chat about what Pete is up to now - an exciting new film project that is shedding light on white collar domestic violence and raising awareness around this important issue.
We had such a great time with Pete in the studio - he’s full of energy and the conversation just flowed. We hope you enjoy this chat as much as we did.

This week Nicola and Di chat with the authentic and entertaining Cameron Daddo. Cam has been part of the Australian entertainment scene since the late 80s. He became the youngest prime-time game show host in Aussie TV history for Perfect Match and since then has gone on to become an award-winning actor, broadcaster and singer-songwriter. He’s also the author of a new book - Keep It Smooth: Life Lessons In Confidence and is passionate about men’s mental health, which led him to set up his non-profit organisation My Men’s Team.
In this wonderful chat, we talk about so many different things. There’s laughter, tears and everything in between. We go right back to Cam’s childhood and the struggles he went through as a kid because he had a stutter. Cam talks about how he couldn’t even say his own name and how his stutter caused him so much anxiety. We also hear about the incredible teacher who reframed everything for Cam and how that changed his life.
We chat about the early days of Cam’s career and what it was like after being such a successful actor in Australia, to move to LA and start all over again as a complete unknown and experience hundreds of knock backs and rejections.
Cam opens up about his marriage with Ali, and is honest about the affair he had with his Models Inc co-star in the 90s, and how grateful he is that Ali was willing to stay and work on rebuilding their marriage. Cam is candid about how much therapy helped them work through everything and shares how they continue to work on their marriage - even after 33 years.
Cam shares so many hilarious stories from his acting days and time in LA, as well as the adversity he went through after losing almost everything in the financial crisis of 2008. This difficult time prompted Cam to write an open letter to other men at the school his kids attended, inviting anyone going through similar struggles to talk. This led to the first Men’s Team, which is now a non-profit organisation, and is a place where men can come together, talk, listen and learn to become more resilient.
We also chat about Cam’s brilliant new book, Keep It Smooth, and the different things he’s learnt about confidence throughout his life. This is such a wonderful conversation and we loved having Cam in the studio. He took us on a ride of highs and lows and we hope you get as much out of listening to it as we did. Enjoy.
