This week, Evan and Skyler discuss the curious case of one Jake Cave going from shunned pariah to man of the people thanks in no small part to his explosive outburst against the one true force all baseball fans can band together against: umpires! What role does someone like Jake Cave play on this team and why is it important? Meanwhile, the rash of Rockies injuries is still less than ideal, but multiple key players are either coming back at last like Kyle Freeland or are very close to returning like Germán Márquez. The lads also take a look at the bright future presented by the Colorado Rockies farm system on all levels, but especially the young men with the High-A Spokane Indians and the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats, both of whom clinched first half playoff berths.

This week Evan and Skyler have a much needed extended venting conversation about Kris Bryant and his time with the Colorado Rockies. The former superstar is aging like a fine glass of milk to the detriment of himself, the team, and the fanbase. Something's got to give because at this point it's just getting ridiculous. After getting that off their chests, it's time to wheel into a much more positive topic of conversation: Ezequiel Tovar, Ryan McMahon, and the other Rockies players deserving of an All-Star nod. The lads wrap things up talking about Adael Amador's first week in the bigs and his role moving forward.

The MLB Draft is just a month away, so Skyler and Dustin decided to look back on the Rockies history of first round draft picks and talk about some of those that cracked the big league roster, fizzled out in the minors, or became busts. From the fated Greg Reynolds pick to the brief career of Choo Freeman, the brothers cover it all and discuss how much the Rockies have failed with their top picks.

This week, Evan and Skyler break down up-to-date injuries and playing time issues affecting the Rockies as they have been skidding over the last week and change. Kris Bryant is back on the injured list, Nolan Jones is still on rehab, and Jake Cave is for some unknown reason playing every day. Meanwhile, Michael Toglia is back in with the big league club and looking to stick around after a very strong series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Oh, and while we were recording it got announced (but not confirmed) that Rockies top prospect Adael Amador was being called up for his MLB debut in place of an injured Brendan Rodgers. The bullpen carousel also continues as the Rockies shuffle through pitchers and veteran journeymen relievers without a true shutdown guy.

This week, Skyler returns to the show after his week away much like how the multitude of injured Colorado Rockies starting pitchers are moving ever closer to their returns. At the very least the other members of the rotation like Cal Quantrill, Austin Gomber, and even Dakota Hudson have held down the fort in strong fashion whilst their comrades heal up and work on rehab. Outfielder Nolan Jones is also close to returning which has us wondering... what exactly do the Rockies want from a guy like Elehuris Montero or Sean Bouchard? What are their plans? They need to start making decisions soon. Skyler and Evan also make decisions by naming their Pitcher and Player of the Month for May!

We all have those players that we love who didn't necessarily turn the needle in the direction of contention but were still quality ball players in their own respect. In this new episode of Every Rockie Ever, Skyler and Dustin reflect on three players that they enjoyed that were cult classic heroes to them. Dustin first expands on his admiration of the pinch-hitting extraordinaire Greg Norton of the early 2000s. Skyler then delves into the fearsome bat of the Baby Bull Wilin Rosario but laments his bad defense at catcher. Then the brothers reflect on a mutual favorite, Jonathan Herrera a.k.a. Little Johnny Sparkplug

Evan is joined by friend of the show Patrick Lyons to discuss the flurry of roster moves the Colorado Rockies have made over the last handful of days. Pitchers being called up, sent down, and going all around as the bullpen seeks reinforcements to cure their struggles. The Rockies have also suffered several key injuries, the worst of which is top prospect outfielder Jordan Beck's broken hand that will sideline him for at least a month. Meanwhile, there are more moves to be made, trades to be considered, and value to be discussed. The lads cap things off with a discussion on having fun, being weird, and playing with purpose.

What made the Rockies so successful during those delightful seven games of actually fun baseball? Then it's time to talk roster movement with the impending returns of Kris Bryant and Nolan Jones. Finally, other basement dwellers are already starting to sell. When should the Rockies bite the bullet and do the same? Who should be the ones to go?

Mexico has a rich history of players and culture and that become engrained in the sport of baseball. Recently, the Rockies played in Mexico City where Vinny Castilla and Jorge De La Rosa were recognized. This week, Skyler and Evan are joined by friend of the show Patrick Lyons to discuss just how frustrating the Rockies have been. Especially frustrating is an interview coming to the defense of skipper Bud Black from general manager Bill Schmidt. After holding a team meeting following a sweep by the bottom-dwelling Miami Marlins, the Rockies came out of the gate with a win against the Pittsburgh Pirates... only to drop the last two games of the series in frustrating fashion and have it feel like we're right back where we started. However, it's not all negative. The lads spend the third segment trying to be positive in the face of adversity.

Fresh off the end of the Colorado Rockies playing in beautiful Mexico City, Skyler and Evan are ready to engage in a much needed vent session. The Rockies are bad and it's showing in every part of play from the top to the bottom. The floundering offense is particularly a sore subject and outside of a few exceptions the problems are widespread through the roster. What is there to be done? What can be done? The season may be lost but I don't think most of us expected it to be this bad. We finish up by exploring roster moves, injuries, and discussing the potential ascension of Jordan Beck to the big league roster.

This week Skyler and Evan discuss the injuries and illnesses sweeping through the clubhouse as Kris Bryant, Daniel Bard, and Kyle Freeland have all had status updates and half the team got sick during the roadtrip. Meanwhile, the Colorado Rockies offense--despite preaching philosophical changes this offseason--are striking out more and walking less as the bats fail to get anything going more often than not. Also, did you know that a left elbow and a right shoulder are two different body parts? Something something we also flew a plane.

Skyler and Evan record on Monday morning after a busy weekend to discuss the state of the Colorado Rockies. The rotation is starting to round into better form but there is still much to be desired from the staff. Ryan Feltner stands out as the best of the bunch with the highest potential for the season. Meanwhile, slumping Rockies like Nolan Jones and Brendan Rodgers are starting to find their stride while guys like Brenton Doyle and Ezequiel Tovar are showing improvement from 2023 at the plate. We round things out with a trip to the minors, where outside of Albuquerque the Rockies' affiliates are off to a great start with the Spokane Indians rotation really impressing the fans.

In 2005, Clint Barmes etched his name forever in the annals of Rockies history and the hearts of many fans. An Opening Day walk-off home run highlighted the incredible start to a promising career. Unfortunately, a broken collar bone in 2005 from a freak injury derailed his career and hindered him from reaching the potential that he always showed. Still, he was a true professional and played the game hard, which endured him to fans wherever he went.

This week Skyler and Evan discuss the disastrous start to the Colorado Rockies' season in which they were absolutely trounced in their Opening Day matchup against the Arizona Diamondbacks 16-1 in the desert. Leading up to that, the Rockies made several roster decisions including adding Alan Trejo and Victor Vodnik to the Opening Day roster and designating prospect Warming Bernabel for assignment. The Rockies also announced the cable option for watching games this season. Meanwhile, owner Dick Monfort said some weird stuff in public again and we discuss how Rockies fans should temper their expectations for the 2024 campaign. Evan makes a vague promise.

In this new round of Guess the Rockie, Skyler and Dustin put their player knowledge to the test. Skyler selected four position players while Dustin selected four pitchers. The caveat is that the players couldn't have appeared in more than two seasons with the team. They have fun trying to remember players from the early 90s while also reminiscing about players that might be better forgotten.
