Our guest next time on Red Barn Radio is a ensemble we've had with us before, watched grow with much glee, and have sorely missed because they've traveledand performed widely in recent years.
Magnolia Boulevard, and band of great players and soul singing who have been widely recognized for what they bring to the stage. For instance, they took home first prize in the “On The Rise” band competition at Floydfest, a grand and growing Virginia festival attended by 12,000 people.

In the heart of Lincoln, Nebraska, The Wildwoods emerge as a folk/Americana trio, a musical tapestry woven by the husband-and-wife duo, Noah (guitar) and Chloe Gose (violin), alongside long-time friend and bassist, Andrew Vaggalis.
Their presence has graced stages alongside artists such as Mighty Poplar, Sierra Ferrell, Aiofe O’ Donovan, Melissa Carper, Jamie Wyatt and Joe Nichols at concerts and festivals like Summerfest, FreshGrass and the Oyster Ridge Music Festival. Their music, though comfortably under the folk/Americana umbrella, weaves intricate chord structures and emo-tional textures that defy genre boundaries. That's The Wildwoods, from Lincoln Nebraska.

Lane Morris is our guest next week. This guy is one dialed inperformer. No surprise, he's been at it for a long time. Lane is playing acoustic, solo, which we love, but you can check out his electric chops on the Tube too. Lane has never been on the program, and we're excited to do a broadcast with this talented tough guy.

Our guest next week is artist/musician & producer Cam Clark, who is based in Paris Kentucky.
Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty and rich musical heritage of Appalachia, Cam’s artistic vision is deeply rooted in the stories, sights, and sounds of his home.
Developed as an experiment in sound and energy his debut album called The Outer Reaches embodies the rugged charm and essence of the Kentucky landscape that shaped it and shapes it into what could be called an Appalachian soul record.
As a touring musician for over a decade, Cam is committed to pushing boundaries, both in his work as an artist and as a producer.

Moonshine Drive is a Bluegrass band from Northern KY and Cincinnati. Moonshine Drive appeared on Red Barn Radio when they were just coming out of the gate, and they'd already established themselves as a staple in the Cinci Bluegrass scene. While core members are still here, there are great additions vocally and instrumentally, and with that continued evolution in their sound. Great to have another fine evening of some good ol' Bluegrass pickin.

Andrew Montana was born and raised in Southern California and spent his summers with his family in Appalachian North Carolina where his musical style was most influenced. Known for his captivating storytelling and mesmerizing melodies, Montana has been making waves in the indie folk scene with his heartfelt and evocative songwriting. In June 2024, Andrew released his sophomore album ‘American Pastoral’. Andrew is currently in the studio recording 2 new albums, one of which debuts his work as a composer.

A pair of wonderful songwriters from North Texas and Payson, Arizona. For both Brandon Howard and Matt Barr, music goes way back. Matt has musicians in his family, and Brandon started writing songs when he was in 5th grade. How these two guys met and then became two peas in a pod is a neat story. The guys are also both great players and I know we'll have a good time together. Matt Barr and Brandon Howard.

Red Barn Radio kicks off season 23, with group of players who are nothing short of legendary. Recipients of the International Bluegrass Music Association's Distinguished Achievement Award, the McLain Family Band has become internationally known as one of the most spontaneous, creative and spirited groups performing original and traditional bluegrass music.
Since 1968, the McLain Family Band has performed in 64 countries and all 50 states. They have appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center and the Grand Ole Opry.
The McLain’s are less than 2 months away from their induction into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, and we feel privileged to help them begin that celebration on the first program of a brand-new season!

Canon Tyler is a singer-songwriter & guitarist from the hills of North Georgia. With sonic elements of Bluegrass and Contemporary Acoustic Music, Tyler’s lyrics blend the story telling aspects of traditional American folk and Laurel Canyon era singer-songwriters. Together this creates a sound that is both fresh and familiar to fans of roots music. Tyler’s latest album, “Thickets & Brambles” is an homage to the rich heritage of North Georgia. Consisting of 10 tracks, “Thickets” delves into the heart of the region’s musical legacy. Through introspective lyrics and narrative storytelling, Tyler invites listeners on a personal journey of life in the foothills.

Alabaster Boxer, a unique music project, is a band hailing from southern West Virginia. These guys got together not all that long ago, and already Alabaster Boxer might be considered the best assembly of rock all-stars that West Virginia has ever seen.
What makes Alabaster Boxer? Their interesting and sometimes crazy groovy and mesmerizing song arrangements, and their super fun performance!

Jack Browning is an artist and musician from London. A sucker for blues, folk and country music with experience touring all around the UK and Europe, he sings about love, loss, folklore and most everything in between, raising cheers and raising beers in equal measure.

Randy Steele is an award winning banjo pickin’singer/songwriter from Chattanooga, Tennessee. A career firefighter who picked upthe banjo to decompress and pass the time at the fire station, Randy’s creative music ranges from character based narratives to deeply personal & revelatory.
Emotionally powerful, Steele can wake you up with ahard-drivin’ song, draw you in with deep lyrics, & have you laughing (or crying)with a compelling confession. Randy’s high-energy bluegrass band, High Cold Wind, brings out the best in his charisma and superb storytelling. They independently released a new 5-song self-titled EP August 25.

These regional bluegrass veterans--at least a couple of whom played on Red Barn Radio 15 years ago-- have been playing together for nearly a decade. Before they got together ten years ago, each player had honed their craft drawing upon what they could learn from the standout bluegrass pickers of their time.
They call themselves String Roots Trio, they arebased in the Red River Gorge area of Kentucky and play their music with an Appalachian flavor. The group consists of Mike Creech on the guitar and vocals,Jimmy Smith on the banjo and vocals, Holly Creech Smith on vocals, and Terri Powell on the bass. We look forward to having you here with us for an eveningof music and conversation with String Roots Trio!

It’s been quite a stir forthe Minnesota progressive folk-rock-country sextet Maygen & The Birdwatcher. In late 2021 they released their debut full-lengthalbum, Moonshine – (which Americana UK wrote is “stunning”) –earning them Midwest Country Music Awards for Album of the Year and AmericanaArtist of the Year) and landed opportunities to join festival stages with bandslike Old Crow Medicine Show, Paul Cauthen, Grace Potter, and The Ozark MountainDaredevils.
They continued themomentum in late 2022, releasing Moonshine’s companion EP, withthe “lively and charming” (Adventures in Americana) Bootleggin’ At TheFlower Shoppe which took home a 2nd round of wins for Album of the Yearand Americana Artist of the Year at the Midwest Country Music Organization’sannual awards show.
The mood-boostingAmericana band adventurously blurs the sounds of country, bluegrass, folk, andblues. Lead singers Maygen Lacey, and Noah Neumann intentionally work to drawon their vastly different musical influences and vocal styles to bring a freshand unexpected mix of songs to light. From beauty to grit, sadness tosilliness, the common thread is that this crew loves music, and playing ittogether, and it shows.

Will Overman, a great singer-songwriter from Virginia, is back to play the Red Barn stageafter a couple years have passed. Will works hard and takes the business ofmusic very seriously. In fact, I've heard Will say that 80% of his time isspent planning, promoting, reaching out, so that he can make things work andhave the ability to get around the region and share what he does.
Since we last saw Will, he's released a live EP and also a newsingle called "Virginiais for Lovers".

Brock, Lanzetti, Ogawa is the moniker for a new trio whosemembers are widely known through their association with the jazz-funk groupSnarky Puppy. Zach Brock (4 and 6 string violins), BobLanzetti (acoustic and electric guitars), and Keita Ogawa (percussion)create in the spaces between jazz, folk, experimental, ambient, groove, andworld music. Their debut album entitled Drawing Songs was released on November10, 2023 by GroundUp Music.
Zach, Bob and Keita all live in New York and right now are makinga run of shows from Indianapolis to Tokyo.

Rising artist Matt Koziol has collaborated with John PaulWhite, Joy Oladokun, Jimmie Allen, Charlie Worsham, Steve Moakler, AbbyAnderson, Bre Kennedy, and more as a writer for Prescription Songs. And hasspent the last few years playing guitar and singing backing vocals for BreKennedy.
Koziol is a vibrant songwriter, and personality, who'sdeveloped a style of writing, and playing, that appeals to the traveling heart.He focuses on creating a homelike environment for each session; setting hiscollaborators at ease and making each person feel special. Matt has a knack forpulling remarkable stories from his peers to use as inspiration in thesongwriting process.
Taking influence from modern music’s greatest performers,Koziol’s live show will deliver you wherever you need to be in that moment.Whether he’s backed by a full band along with pedal steel and keys, or alone onstage with only his guitar, buckle up for the journey on which you’re about toembark.

KatieBurkhardt is a lover of all things folk and alternative, and a true to heartsinger/songwriter. She grew up around music and art, taught herself howto play guitar, among other instruments, and dove headlong into her musicalpassion at a young age. Now Katie is 26, paving the way to what we thinkwill be an exciting career for her in music. I know she's looking forward tosharing her songs with you. You will enjoy Katie's singing and playing.
