    Erin is on the boards of Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) and ARC Justice. She has previously been on the board – and Chair – of Financial Rights Legal Centre. 

     

    Erin Turner is a consumer advocate that works with governments and regulators to make markets fairer for Australians. She is the CEO of the Consumer Policy Research Centre, a think tank that looks at emerging issues and how markets impact on people.  

     

    Erin has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Politics and Public Policy and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

    Jo is a contemporary governance specialist and seasoned board chair experienced in commercial, government, SME and NFP settings. She is an Australian Institute of Company Directors Master and Fellow, and holds an MBA majoring in leadership, communication, strategy & planning.  

     

    Her value proposition lies in creating enabling, high-performance environments where boards partner with their organisations to supercharge aspiration and collective strategic nous to deliver beyond traditional boundaries. She is relentless in her pursuit of environmental, social and governance excellence and, is a long- term advocate for enabling choice, opportunity and equality for women and people who are underrepresented.

Robyn has also worked in corporate insolvency in Australia and New York in securitisation and corporate credit.

You'll need to look her up elsewhere, but she may be familiar to many of you as the author of the director's dilemma newsletter, which is read by directors all across the globe. Julie has a degree in civil engineering, an executive MBA, a graduate diploma in Applied Finance and Investment and a Diploma of company directorship and an Advanced Diploma in company directorship.


    She's done a lot. Plus, she's authored a range of books. And I'm so pleased to have you on the podcast today, Julie, to have a chat about board reports.

  • This week on the Take on Board podcast, I sharing my recap from the Climate Governance Forum in August 2024. It’s sponsored by AICD and these events are always fantastic for learning and networking. This year was no different. 


    Some of the major moments for me are when speakers emphasized the importance of climate governance as a critical transformation since the Industrial Revolution. So we need to pay attention.


    There were takeaways that are important for boards: including the recent passage of a climate-related financial disclosure scheme, mandatory climate reporting, and the integration of sustainability into business operations. 


    The forum highlighted the need for organizations to understand their environmental footprint, set targets, and address stakeholder views. The importance of nature-positive principles and regenerative practices was also stressed.

    This is a ‘bonus episode’ in the Take on Board deep dive into strategy. Dominique reached out to me with a good story to tell, so we’re here to share it!  


    Dominique is on the board and Chair of Greenfleet. She has formerly been on the boards of Living Futures Institute of Australia and Trust for Nature.  

     

    Dominique is an author, educator, policy advisory and regenerative thinker. She started researching and writing on regenerative development, biophilia and placemaking in 2005, working in sustainability since 1994. Her focus is on real projects, on the ground and all the messy conversations that enable it to evolve and resolute with place. She is a board director and chair of Greenfleet and on the Circular Economy Ministerial Advisory Group.

Jamie was named a 2022 NEA/ Delaware Division of the Arts Established Artist Fellow in Literature: Playwriting, executive producer of two documentary films, producer of 13 annual First Person Arts Festivals of memoir and documentary art, host of WHYY’s Philadelphia Revealed Podcast (July 2024); WHYY’s Commonspace Radio Hour and Podcast series (2018), and COVID Stories – A Digital Memoir (2020).


    She is a Creator of FPA’s Applied Storytelling division where storytelling activities are customized to build communities. Brunson holds an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College and BA from Temple University.

    Andrea has been involved in the for-purpose sector for nearly twenty years and continues to love the work. Besides serving on the board, Andrea is the Strategy & Planning Manager at YSAS, a large youth specific community organisation that works with young people and families across Victoria. Andrea has participated in The Observership Program, and recently completed studies with the AICD to enhance her skills alongside others in the boardroom. 


    She happily spends her days in a strategy and planning role at YSAS, one of Australia's largest youth-specific community service organisations.

  • Today on the Take on Board podcast I’m speaking with Carol Schwartz about Board dynamics, culture, risk, strategy and the role of The Chair. 


    Carole is on the boards of Reserve Bank of Australia, Trawalla Group and Chair of EQT Holdings Limited, Climate Council, Trawalla Foundation and the Women’s Leadership Institute Australia 

     

    She has previously been on the boards of Stockland, Bank of Melbourne, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Melbourne International Arts Board…….too many to name! 

     

    Carol Schwartz has a diverse career across property, the arts, finance, investment, entrepreneurship, government and health. Carol has been recognised for her leadership via a range of honours including her 2019 appointment as an Officer of the Order of Australia, 2020 Leading Philanthropist Award by Philanthropy Australia, an Honorary Doctorate from Monash University, induction into the Australia Property Hall of Fame, and a Centenary Medal. Carol has been a passionate advocate for gender equality and women in leadership, and as, she has catalysed a range of initiatives to grow the critical mass of women in politics, business and the media. 

     

    So it won’t surprise you to hear that Carol was also featured in the Broads on Boards Powerhouses chapter because, as you can tell, she is also, well a powerhouse! We’ll make sure we put a link to that episode, and the series, in the show notes.

    Kiki is on the boards of Go Gentle Australia / Cancer Chicks / Australian Online Giving Foundation. She has previously been on the boards of Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women's Shelter / Pandis. 

     

    Kiki is an experienced CEO and non-executive director. From 2016 until 2022 she was the CEO of the national charity Go Gentle Australia, which was instrumental in passing voluntary assisted dying laws in all six states in Australia.
