We’re back this week to tell ya about Bill Ranford — two time cup winner for the Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers, and and absolute beast in international play! He was a quality stand-up ‘tendy who always looked stellar on a hockey card and kept it clean between the pipes!
We also talk about co-host Tom’s newfound dental adventures as well as updates on the quest for Lord Stanley, who hoisted the first ever Walter cup awarded to the PWHL champions, and who’s set to face off for the Memorial Cup!
Plus on this week’s Pack-A-Day habit, we open up some 1991 – 91 Upper Deck High Series cards, and they’re some real beauties! -
Hey hey, it’s Monday and the boys are here with episode 29, it’s everyone’s favourite pallindrome — the OTTO! That’s right we talk all about this defensive stalwart who was top notch at the face-off dot, Bemidji State all-timer Joel Otto (not co-host Jared, in case you were wondering!)
Then we break down the predicted coaching hire for the Jet’s, Scott Arniel and start to wade through the Athletic’s Jets Off-Season fan poll.
Plus we open up packs of 1992 O‑Pee-Chee Premier cards on Pack-A-Day!

We’re back this week talking about offensively gifted defenseman, a great #28, Steve Duchesne! He may have kept his suitcase packed, but he put up a lot of points for a few teams, and seemed like a heckuva nice guy!
We also discuss the playoffs to date, as we wait for the 4th partner to join the final four dance on the eve of the Canucks-Oilers game 7. We do a quick recap of the PWHL and the World Hockey Championships…
Pack-A-Day this week is 1990 Score and we pull some real beauties!
-
Back at it tell you about a fine number 27 — the great Gilles Meloche! This mustachioed tendy patrolled the pipes for the likes of the California Golden Seals, Cleveland Barons and Minnesota North Stars, so you know he felt the sting of more than a few biscuits to the side of the head! He currently sits at 4th all-time in the Goalie loss leaders, where he’s got some pretty good company.
We also get caught up on Round Two playoff action, look at some head coaching vacancies and debut our brand new pack-a-day segment!
-
Back for another week to talk about game we all know and love, we’re here with episode 26 — The Milbury! The boys tell you all about rugged defenseman Mike Milbury, who was a bit of a shoe aficionado, then later a subpar GM with the Isles and a longtime commentator with some questionable hot takes!
We break down a predictable round one of the NHL playoffs — the teams you think would win won, and the won we wanted to win didn’t. But the Leafs lost again, and that’s okay!
And then we start to dissect what will happen with your Winnipeg Jets offseason — will Old Bones stay? Do any of the UFA’s make Winnipeg their home? And does Nik Ehlers take his drycleaning to a new city — we’ve got thoughts as always…
-
After last week’s live Pledge-O-Rama show, your favourite hosts are back and recording the show from comfortable confines. We break down the great career of one Mr. Joseph Nieuwendyk — this hall of famer won cups with 3(!!!) different teams, helped bring the gold back to Canada in the 2002 Olympics and proved to be an excellent two-way centreman.
Then we talk about the playoffs — first trying to dissect exactly what’s gone wrong for your Winnipeg Jets and then talking about some of our other favourite playoff highlights and stories.
No music today — instead we play you some of our favourite calls from the late, great Bob Cole. Truly Mr. Saturday Night, may he rest in peace.

Hello out there, we’re live on the air!
That’s right, the fellas are in the booth this week for Pledge-O-Rama 2024, raising some funds for this great campus & community radio station that we air on each week!
We’ll play some hockey card wars with some vintage junk wax, and we have the first edition of Talkin’ Trivia with some very special guests!
If ya like the show, be sure to throw some dough our way — head to the UMFM website to make your donation today!
-
The boys are back and all over the map with Season 6, Episode 24 The Federko, in honour of the pride of Foam Lake, SK — Mr. Bernie Federko! He played 1000 games on the nose, dished out a whole lotta apples, still leads the Blues in most major categories and was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his efforts!
Plus we talk about Salt Lake City’s new hockey team and what a long, strange trip it’s been to get them there and talk about all the playoff implications of a manic Monday in the NHL — 7 of the 8 games have some meaning to someone!
-
The fellas are fired up for this sweet episode that we’re calling The Nystrom — in honour of Bobby Nystrom, the blond bomber from Hinton, AB by way of Stockholm! All you need to see is that flowing mane and that big ol’ duster and you’ll know why Knuckles got the call today!
We also talk about Eastern conference playoff races and a couple of veteran squads that are finely rounding into form at the right time, plus NHL Ironmen and we give you a little Pledge-O-Rama preview — get those donations ready!
Oh yeah, great tunes too, but you already knew that! -
Recorded on Good Friday as the lads find themselves with a little time on their hands, this one’s been christened in honour (!?!?) of Claude Lemieux — one of the greatest agitators to ever play the game, and agitator’s a word that my grandma would’ve used to say a‑hole. He won 3 cups and the only friends he made along the way were probably his teammates…
Then we talk about the Jets who are struggling to say the least — at the time of recording, they’ve lost 5 straight and need to right the plane soon, lest they slip into one of those wildcard spots.
And finally we talk about all of the fans masquerading as empty seats around the league — it’s clearly not just a problem north of the border.
Plus great tunes from the latest rocketing up the UMFM charts!
-
We’re back talkin’ about a bonafide hockey legend — international superstar Peter Forsberg! The man known as Foppa, or Peter The Great, was an absolute force in international play and still holds the record for World Junior points — both career and in an individual tourney. Sadly his NHL career was hampered by injuries, but he was still part of two cup winning teams in Colorado, and was a key part of one of the league’s biggest trades ever!
Then we talk Jets — the boys had been hittin’ the snooze on their east coast swing and have dropped three in a row. Time for some home cooking and hopefully a return to form before they hit the home stretch.
And finally, fantasy playoffs are upon us — does Tommy’s squad squeak in or does his season long ‘tendy woes do him in — so much math!
This week’s tunes are a trio of absolute bangers — welcome to our listeners new and old! -
After a week away, the boys are back with Episode 20 — something we’re calling the Suter after Flames (and US Hockey) legend Gary Lee Suter — though his nephew Ryan wears the big two-oh as well! We find out that this Stanley Cup and Calder Trophy winner had a bit of nasty edge when dipping his toe in international waters, much to Tommy’s shock and dismay, but he repped the stars and stripes whenever called upon and is truly an American great!
We talk about our Jets who are rollin’ towards the playoffs with their new additions firing on all cylinders, and we recap the Garage League of Hockey finale — big shouts to this year’s champs The Spare Parts!
Call 1 – 800-Hockey-Talk if you have any leads, or would like to return, the Jagr bobbleheads — no questions asked!
-
The boys are back at it, with Season 6, Episode 19 — the Naslund! We tell you about Canucks legend, Swedish superstar Markus Naslund — one of the core members of the West Coast Express and a product of the mighty MoDo hockey machine.
Then, with the trade deadline fast approaching, we go coast to coast and tell you which Canadian teams are buying, selling, holding or folding.
And the Garage League playoffs kicked off over the weekend and we tell you who took a good first step towards hoisting the cup!
-
Back after a week away, the boys talk about “The Senator” — Habs legend Serge Savard! Not many folks, including your hosts, know he was the real originator of the Savardian spin-o-rama — but he also won 8 cups as a player and another 2 as a GM!
We also head down to the rink for the final weekend of Garage League action and we talk about the attendance crisis (?!?!) for your Winnipeg Jets.
All this, plus a trio of killer new tunes — keep yer stick on the ice!
-
Oh hey there hockey fans, how’s it going?
The fellas are back this weekend talkin’ about another beauty, the pride of Kelvington, SK — #17, Mr. Wendel Clark. He’s a real Leaf’s legend and certainly a charter member of the pro hockey moustache hall of fame!
Then they discuss the brouhaha between the Leafs and the Senators — empty net clappers, unnecessary crosschecks and the “code” — plus a compare and contrast to other suspensions this year.
And finally a breakdown and Jets comings and goings — getting back in the win column and looking forward to the upcoming slate of games.
Plus, some great music as always.…
*note, co-host Jared’s mic sounds a little subpar this week, so our apologies; co-host Tom sounds like a crisp winter’s day! #wayshegoes* -
The lads are back with episode 16, a real beauty named after a real beauty — the Tucker, as in Leaf’s legend Darcy Tucker. He had a tidy 940 plus game career, making his mark as a guy you hated to play against but loved having as a teammate!
We’ve got a quick rundown on the Jet’s newest addition, number 23, Sean Monahan who joins the squad after the All Star game weekend. We catch you up on all the comings and going from the T‑Dot, including an in depth discussion about the pros returning to the Olympics in 2026
-
We’re back after a week off with episode 15 — The Bobby Smith! The fellas tell you about this former North Star, Hab and Ottawa 67 who had a tidy little career, putting up almost a point per game during his 1000 plus game career! He was the first (???) Nova Scotia born player to go #1 overall, and it’s true that he once even beat the Great One in a scoring race by 10 points — nice job Robert!
Then we break down the recent developments in the horrible Team Canada scandal in connection with an investigation into an alleged sexual assault by several members of Canada’s 2018 world junior team.
And finally, the Winnipeg Jet’s recent swoon has gotta have fans feeling a little déjà vu — can Old Bones right the ship post-All Star Break?
-
It’s cold outside, but this week’s episode is red hot as the boys talk about a real beauty — Brendan Shanahan. Certainly one of the top 100 of all time, Shanny was a hard-nosed scorer for the Devils, Blues, Whalers, Red Wings and Rangers and repped his country a number of times, joining the elusive Triple Gold club and setting an (un)official record for Gordie Howe hattricks! Plus, he’s been the architect of the “Shanaplan”, trying to lead the Maple Leafs to glory for the past 10 years!
We also discuss this year’s allstar game — who’s in, who’s out and who’s fan base is stuffing the ballot box — some great throwback tunes this week too!
-
The boys are back at it with our first episode of 2024, something we’re calling the Cammalleri!
Of course we talk a little about the well travelled Mike Cammalleri, who played for 5 teams during his 900 game plus career, and then we talk about an off year for Canada at the WJHC. Then we catch up with your red hot Winnipeg Jets, who are on a historic heater, plus we go in depth on their late 2023 two game brouhaha with the Minnesota Wild. Plus co-host Tom plays some music favs from 2023!
-
On our last show before Christmas, the boys talk about a real beauty — Boston Bruins legend Wayne Cashman! We also give you a World Juniors tournament preview, letting you know who’s wearing the maple leaf this year and who are some other players to watch in this year’s holiday classic. And then in our our final segment we talk NHL contenders and pretenders — who looks good on paper and who actually has the juice to hoist the cup!
Plus, holiday songs for your listening enjoyment!
