  • In this episode, we’re hanging out in the salon lounge while Britton’s hair color processes. It’s a fun, laid-back chat with some special guests: Lili, Maggie, and Jorja. We spill the tea on the salon’s big launch party, the recent renovations, and—surprise!—an upcoming salon name change.

Britton and I have grown so close over the years. I love having her in my chair and working on projects with her because she’s the ultimate girls' girl. And honestly, us girls—sorry, but we rule! We also dive into how much we enjoy collaborating with the amazing Ben Egelson.

We chat about why I'm always updating and changing things around the salon. I mean, let's be real—if salons stop evolving, people stop coming. I even brought in secret shoppers to keep things fresh and get some feedback that we share in this episode.

Britton, as one of my OG clients, shares her honest feedback on the podcast, especially on that awkward moment when clients stare during the shampoo! You won’t believe how many people do that instead of just closing their eyes. We get the team involved, too, sharing their own wild shampoo station stories.

Trust me, you don’t want to miss this one!

  • What a few weeks it's been! This episode we dive into the pre holiday shit show that is the salon with our favorite salon manager, Maggie!

We start off with the crazy ass week we had, including 2 bad reviews not are so wildly invalid we had to share. One of them my attorney is even involved, because you can have an opinion but you're not allowed to make shit up!

In all my years in hair the one thing that remains consistent, is the holidays bring out the worst in people receiving services.

And the best too! We have some of the absolute best clients, but this time of year the worst ones always find us, rotate back to us, or just suddenly become crazed. (or they ran out of salons to get kicked out of)

IDK what it is about Sept - Dec that makes folks so inhospitable, trust me we always investigate and try to grow and learn from each interaction - but there is always at least one person we have to ask to not come back.

This week is the precursor every year to the holidays. Two bad reviews from folks we haven't seen in 6 months or over a year. Then to add on top a cancelled concert, me backing out of an event, and people trying to start fights with me via text.

Join us, as me and Maggie dissect whats happening and brace for whats coming!

  • The theme this episode is how grumpy people are, especially on the internet; but real life too. And how the best I can do is monetize it, cause Sean is gonna be nice to you if he sees you out. And he always seems to see the biggest haters out and about. Todays hater he saw at the Hair Supply Store.

We also have out first sponsors! Links and codes below

Today's trauma is also brought to you by boomer dads on vacation; and boomer moms reading your diary. Navigating childhood trauma is f**king yucky, but I discovered a new limiting belief all because when I was a teen my mom read my diary; and then punished me for what was in it.

Spoiler alert, turns out it was normal teen stuff that I was lead to believe was actual psycho stuff haha

  • A little more about me, I was always the unwanted kid, but I was also always the aware kid. Words didn't often match the actions of adults around me, so here we are; with trust issues. Although, I am never wrong about a person.

We dive a little politically deep here too, because I actually enjoy a healthy discourse. But most people can't even name the 3 branches of government, thus rarely know what they are talking about outside of headlines. It's frustrating, but not as frustrating as that presidential debate. Oof

And as usual we take a mental health turn into my PTSD, reframing things to be more positive and tricking your brain into abundance aligned thinking rather than victim aligned.

Which brings us to peoples perspectives, espesh of other people, and heavily tattooed people like myself. From strangers to in laws it gets interesting here.

  • Ok it was only 3 weeks but it felt like forever. So here we are catching up

I did a ton of travel, and I stand by Midwest folks are the nicest folks, none of this 'southern hospitality' stuff. Which also leads to, what is Ohio? does the midwest claim them, does the north east? Where do they go?

Sean tried so hard to like Dune, so Chris would like him. He couldn't hack it though. And speaking of movies, I am DYING to see the new Inside Out movie, surprise its for adults. More so, adults in therapy haha

And finally, my favorite mental health discussion, personalities. I recently took an amazing course where we dove into business but first we dove into ourselves! I even shared a worksheet about my personality with my staff so they could get a better understanding of me, their ENTJ leader who has spent most of her life in Fight or Flight.

A great well rounded episode as far as I am concerned.

  • In this episode not only do we talk about salons and suites that try and poach employees, we play a video of one. No edits!

Now listen, it's gonna happen; but I am also gonna expose you when it gets a bit crazy. Cause lets be real, its good content lol

If you're bold enough to put yourself out there, make videos, and steal you gotta be ready to receive bold back, so no hate or shade just playing you all the facts!

Among other topics we also dive deep into Seans first anxiety attack, in his thirties! It was crazy but also refreshing as someone who has struggled with anxiety her whole life, attacks, and more for him to experience it and finally KNOW what its like how you basically feel like you're dying.

And for our side quest discussion, did you know serial killers are on the decline in the USA!? IDK if its all the true crime girlies out here finding the clues, or maybe they're just getting better?

This episode is one of my faves because it's such a mixed bag of nuts that we link all together for a great, fun episode.

  • First up, the latest drama with Diddy, who’s being raided, and how 50 Cent is absolutely loving it because he hates Diddy. We'll get into the whole Diddy/50 Cent beef because, while I might suck at general pop culture, I’m a pro at rap beefs. Call it a skill. Without my good friend Blake, I wouldn’t have a clue about the latest in Popular Culture, but I can give you the lowdown on rap feuds from Tupac and Biggie to Eminem and MGK.

I also don’t buy into cancel culture—it's so random who gets canceled and who doesn’t—but we'll chat about Justin Timberlake's recent antics and why he been canceled.

We’ll wrap it up with the Kansas City Chiefs’ kicker going full Handmaid’s Tale on female college graduates, proving he's completely out of touch, even though Travis Kelsey, his teammate, is dating the ultimate girl power icon. As a libertarian, people think I’m an anarchist honestly; I believe in freedom of speech, but remember, freedom of speech comes with consequences; and those aren’t free.

Plus, I’ll share what I’ve learned about fillers, even though I have lip filler—turns out there are some new studies about that. We’ll also briefly touch on the Kevin Spacey documentary, we choose Britney, Snoop Dogg and the evolution of celebs, celebrate the elite status of 90’s music, and reminisce about the albums we snuck listens to in the 90’s/early 2000’s that we definitely shouldn’t have.

This is a fun one, find more content on all other platforms; I am HARIZILLAA on every channels - except my burner account; that you will never know (diabolical laugh)

  • TW: suicide/mental health issues

Let's recap May; mental health awareness month. I never like to fall into these types of trends because May is also women's health care month, better sleep month, national walking month and so on.

Every month can be Mental Health Awareness Month if you really want it to be. For me, it always is. In this episode, I take you on a journey through one of my delightful burnouts. Thanks to plenty of therapy, I've learned it's just my brain lying to me in the name of what it thinks is "safety."

While navigating my own issues, some blasts from the past decided to make an appearance—cue the previous toxic employees. Yes, I said it: TOXIC! Haha.

Picture this: I'm minding my own business on social media, happily engaging with public hair pages, when suddenly, someone I fired years ago, yes, YEARS ago, pops up to tell everyone how terrible I am. After validating his feelings (insert sarcastic "awww"), "Veronica" from my past stories swoops in, claiming I prevented her from being fully booked. She never says exactly how, but generously offers that I can reach out—even though I'm blocked on all platforms. (Insert smiling eye roll here.) I only know about this drama through other people’s screenshots, which is just wonderful for my mental health. But hey, it is what it is, and the online booking system never lies—she's still not fully booked.

I have no idea what their obsession is or what stories they tell themselves, but I lay it all out, rename some characters, and share what's happening inside my head during all this chaos.

Oh, and we also chat about how Chris hates LinkedIn, the new Walmart has special edition Legos, and how getting a dog might be the best way to focus if you're struggling. They take up a lot of time in the best way possible.

So to whoever listens and clearly reports back, or to anyone listening hoping I don't talk shit about you, these are anecdotes, not shit talking. Shit talking implies gossip, and gossip is usually 'untrue' but I appreciate the plays and downloads.

Thus the holy Trinity of may is Mental Health, Story time, and Content Farming. Cause I can't make this content up!

  • As always, we covered a bunch of juicy topics, but the highlight of today's chat was my encounter with my very first hair salon Karen as a new salon owner!

And guess what? It wasn't a random client—it was an employee's mom! This all kicked off when the employee decided to leave the salon. The whole ordeal was WILD and, honestly, pretty weird.

So, the ex-employee is now a waitress. No shade to waitressing, but it stings when you invest in teaching someone how to build a career and make a good living, only for it to turn out my coaching is 'toxic' and for them not to be passionate about the industry anyway.

Emotions were definitely high. Plus, we spilled some tea about the person who stole from my salon and had the nerve to act like I was the villain for wanting my stuff back.

But that’s not all! We also dished about our favorite billionaires, celebrated some of our beloved Jewish friends, and I gushed over my obsession with Threads.

  • It's 420 twice a day every day, but here we celebrated with what we call salad, mixing the last bits of our stash to make one unique salad to smoke and then reminisce.

From old-school cartoons to a wild encounter with THCP, this episode is like a trip down memory lane on a sugar high, sprinkled with laughs. We reminisce about PBS, Nickelodeon, and Sesame Street, then dive into the crazy story of a THC-infused weekend gone wrong.

But the fun doesn't stop there. We also chat about the good old days of being unsupervised kids, teenage adventures with acid (not our adventures), and the everyday chaos of mom life. We even debate life choices made under the influence, sharing personal stories and lots of laughs.

Then we switch gears to talk movies, from classics like 'Pride and Prejudice' to epic tales like 'Troy'. We all agree that movies have a way of tugging at our heartstrings and shaping our views, leading to some lively debates. And we don't shy away from discussing sensitive topics, diving into our concerns about the content we consume. These detours into introspection make this episode a must-listen.

So buckle up for a rollercoaster of laughter, nostalgia, and deep thoughts. With funny stories, movie chats, and reflections on life's quirks, this episode is a wild journey you won't want to miss!

  • We're spilling the tea on what it's like to be head over heels in love and how to make it last. Plus, we're tackling the hairy subject of ethics in the hairdressing biz and what it really means when we call something 'toxic'. The final episode shortly dissecting whats left of this conversation, I promise.

But wait, there's more! Ever wondered about the struggles of running a business in the social media age? And don't even get us started on energy dynamics and terms like 'little dick energy'—yep, we're going there.

Oh, and get ready to feel all the feels as we talk about how our childhoods shape who we are today. From rebellious teenage years to accepting ourselves, it's a rollercoaster of emotions; and some trauma dumping and how we now cope in a healthy way.

And just when you thought it couldn't get any wilder, we're diving into conspiracy theories and societal norms. Mandela Effect, anyone?

Workplace culture is deeply examined in this episode, particularly the misunderstood concept of 'toxicity'. Understand the impact of terminologies, setting boundaries, and fostering effective communication for a healthier work environment.

And how the word TOXIC, is over used, diluted, and a cop out. Toxic people exist, yes. But stop using the word toxic as the excuse, maybe you were toxic to the space you were in... and you were projecting.

  • Get ready for some juicy debates about the Kardashians – you know, love 'em or hate 'em, they're everywhere. Plus, we've got this awesome story about a beauty student who's using social media to kickstart her business. It's all about how our online lives affect our real-world selves.

Then, we're delving into the messy world of online relationships versus offline ones. Trust us, it gets deep. We'll even share some personal stories about childhood bullying and how it shapes us today; and how people like to be passive aggressive with posts - but I want you to be aggressive. Tag me. Oh, is that too direct?

I never understand when people have some thing they wanna say, or something they believe in, but they won't stand by it. I'm built different. If I'm gonna be petty, it's gonna be direct. These same people making videos or talking shit about me have my number, use it babe, or tag me. It's just giving 'womb womb' energy.

It's not all serious stuff! We're also keeping things light with a few laughs about the ridiculousness of social media pressures and the funny side of online drama.

And let's not forget about the big questions – like, how real is our online persona, really? We're tackling the authenticity debate and even chatting about blocking people online when things get heated.

By the end of it all, we're promising to lay off the Kardashian talk for a bit and look towards a more authentic, considerate digital future. So, if you're up for some thought-provoking conversation mixed with a few laughs, tune in and join the ride!

  • So this episode is about Life Purpose, and how an industry podcast said employers MUST provide Gen Z with a purpose or they won't work for you... and I will not be providing purpose. Here's what AI thinks this episode is about:

So, picture this: we're diving deep into the behind-the-scenes of running a hair salon. We're not just talking about the basics here, but getting into all the juicy details, sharing insider stories and some real eye-opening industry insights.

But hey, it's not all serious business. We're also gonna take a moment to poke some fun at society's expectation that every workplace should be the center of our universe, especially when it comes to keeping Gen Z employees happy. Spoiler alert: it's not all about work!

And yeah, we'll sprinkle in some wisdom from cool folks like Simon Sinek, mixing it up with beach vibes, artsy stuff, and maybe even a dab of politics. But don't worry, we're keeping it chill and open-minded, because healthy debate is where it's at.

Wrapping it up, we'll talk about how society's pressure can sometimes make us lose sight of what really matters, swapping real purpose for something fake. It's a chat that'll make you think, challenge your views, and hopefully leave you feeling inspired to find your own path to fulfillment – whether it's in your job or just life in general.

We also take a deep dive into the dynamics of the Charleston hair scene, emphasizing the need for authenticity, direct communication, and a career-focused mindset for salon owners and workers alike.

  • Get ready to plunge into the multi-dimensional world of 'coolness,' psychedelics, and a shocking incident that terrorized a town. Welcome to an episode brimming with laughter, profound wisdom, and unexpected perspectives. This is the episode before I head to Tulum on a healing retreat, where I also documented my journey; but this one is to see if I change at all. Physically, tonally, or on the outside that is noticeable to anyone.

I have been on a mental health journey since 2020 doing IFS, EMDR, Psilocybin trials (micro and macro) and i have gotten to a place where I want to try more holistic and powerful healing so I signed up for a week in Tulum to be shot through the healing cannon as I call it

Moving away from the mainstream, we explore the disputed realm of plant medicines, culminating in a detailed discussion about psychedelics. Through captivating narratives, we illuminate the evolving viewpoints surrounding these natural yet potent medicines and how the research is piling up for mental health and natural medicines.

Our narratives take you on a winding journey that includes talks about the unease of being in the public eye, the adrenaline rush of suspenseful films, amidst other offbeat topics. Amidst the humor and depth, expect an uncensored exploration of divergent subjects.

In a significant tonal shift, we narrate a solemn yet horrifying incident—the notorious Chowchilla Kidnapping. We relive the truly chilling ordeal of a school bus full of children buried alive in a moving trailer, a crime that has had a lasting impact on the victims and the society . We closely examine the emotional aftermath and the existent societal ignorance towards emotional trauma.
